I know at Apple we don't make items with serial numbers that have words or other "of interest" characteristics.

Wasn't aware that Apple only had the 4 digit SN's.
(BTW - is this considered a NDA infraction for those at Apple?)

I preface this with "I hope I am wrong":
If I was on a jury and I was being told that the production rate has ramped up, and the only evidence the solicitor was presenting me was what I see and read in all these various Model 3 threads (here, Model 3 Owners, Reddit, etc), I would not be convinced "beyond reasonable doubt".
To me, "ramped up" is, at a minimum, 500 units a day (14,000 a month).
I see no evidence of any rate over 500 units a week (2,150 a month).
YMMV.
The parking lot at the delivery center is by definition, for cars that are waiting for delivery... Anyone know where Tesla is parking the cash after they deliver the cars? I'll go there 1st thing in the morning and take picsGotta wonder why they're all just sitting, rather than having been delivered and converted to cash for Tesla. Something's amiss.

Model S never consistently did more than 2,000 a week (biggest US month was Dec 2016 when they did under 6,000 and X was under 4,000). I'd consider anything over 8,000 a month of Model 3 ramped up.
Here is global delivery graphed, with 25,000 being a good quarter (about 8,333 per month at best) Tesla: vehicle deliveries by quarter 2017 | Statistic
If they can do >8,000 a month of Model 3 and still do 8,000 a month of S and X I'd be very happy with that. That would mean they doubled total car production in less than a year (on the way to a 200,000 car year).
If it got to 14,000 a month of Model 3 it'd be leaving S/X combined in the dust. That'd be record breaking not ramped up. We'd be on the way to tripling the prior years production (well over 250,000 cars a year at a 14,000 per month rate of Model 3 plus 8,000 a month rate of S/X).
And before someone talks about 5,000 a week run rate goals, remember that is 5,000 before downtime (holidays, maintenance, upgrades, what ifs). Even if they get the line doing 5,000 a week, it won't do that 52 weeks straight.
What if, and I know this is crazy, they ship out cars, and other cars come and replace them in the lot.Gotta wonder why they're all just sitting, rather than having been delivered and converted to cash for Tesla. Something's amiss.
I spotted VIN 2556 yesterday at the Fremont Delivery Center. I was told by a Tesla person that I was free to walk around the parking lot and look at the cars but no pictures "because these are customer cars".
does it work also here on TMC?
Current highest known registered VIN with NHTSA is still #3840: Model 3 VINs (@Model3VINs) | Twitter
At this rate I would imagine they need to register a new block of VINs with NHTSA within a week or two. It will be interesting to see how large of a block of VINs they end up registering.
Is there going to be a big M3 delivery party for 120 non-employee customers? Why else stock them up?
Why do I get the feeling of being a stalker looking at 120 M3s?
Can someone at FDC take a new video into the high factory window to compare to the clip about a month ago...would be interesting to see if the line is running any faster now.
I saw VIN #2000 at the Fremont delivery center today. Also #64 at the Kato Rd. SC. There were a total of at least 124 Model 3s parked outside of the delivery center. Fifteen of them had VINs of 2000 or above. The highest was the aforementioned #2556. There were eight Model 3s parked outside the Kato Rd. SC.Anyone seen any round VIN numbers? 1000? 2000? or famous VINs 1066 1138 1776 1812 1984 2001 2020 4096 ??
