Delivery Specialist called but almost missed it ... I hung up at first!

You'll get an email from [email protected] (not a call) when they're ready for you to pick your options and begin the final stretch which they estimate at 4 weeks for everyone so far. After this part it's varied for different people, but you should get contacted via phone at some point, given your VIN number, and they'll work with you to schedule a pickup location and time. After finalizing your order the account page will ask you to supply all the other stuff they need like insurance, loan, trade-in and registration info.

For me, I got a call less than a week after the first email/finalizing options, and confirmed that I could pickup at Fremont and was available around the holidays. I initially missed this call but they left a voicemail and sent an email too, so I wouldn't worry about missing them. After that first call, I got a VIN the same day (which surprised even the guy I'd been talking to) and we spoke again to schedule delivery. In my case I think the stars aligned when it came to color choice, my schedule and my location. I'm set up to get my car next week.

OK, so I need more info. Can you explain the entire communications between you and Tesla?

I imagine from what I have seen that you get an email inviting you to configure and you get a call confirming your order but a few more details would be great:

Do you get an email or a phone call inviting you to configure?
Do you get your place in line depending on when you configure or do they need to confirm your reservation with you before they put you in the production queue?
When they call you, do they leave a voicemail if you miss the call? Do they email you to let you know to call back?
When do they schedule the pickup and do you get to choose where you get your car delivered?

-Randy
Configure is a email

Not clear how they work the queue other than what they have said publicly

Call not missed. Answered when they called back the second time...never went to voicemail

You have some say where you want to pick up the car but I would think there are limits

Thanks to this thread, I saw a 725 number pop up on my phone and immediately answered it.

He simply called to verify a few things and ask about my holiday plans and that they don't have a whole lot of information about the car, but wanted to reach out to make sure that the car could be available at any time over the next few weeks. Vague, but I appreciate the heads up.

Invite received and confirmed a week ago.

For some reason, my DS doesn’t want to talk to me. :(

After confirming on Dec 14th, kept refreshing My Tesla and finally got my VIN there (#1913) on the 22nd. Given that I had travel plans (out of the country with possibly no phone access) from today through early-afternoon on the 31st, have been kinda’ desperate to talk to my DS to arrange something for late on the 31st or atleast set a date in early-January.

Called their helpline on the 22nd to talk to a nice guy, Joey, who looked my account up using my email and found my DS to be Elizabeth for whom he said he left an email and an IM; he couldn’t give me her direct number. No callback from her. Tried again on the 23rd and talked to a rather curt guy, Brody, who seemed to be in a hurry to get off the phone; he claimed to have left a note for her again although he didn’t even ask for my email to look the account up?!!

Oh well; if she’s not going to reach out by email, will probably get back to her voicemails (hopefully!) in a week.

Not much has changed with Tesla on this whole delivery process in 5 years... this is my third time on the merry-go-round :sigh:

I'm so sorry to hear that. I have been very lucky to have had excellent communication with both of our Tesla orders and deliveries so far. My Ferrari, however, such bad service and communication from both Austin and San Diego centers. I can't wait to trade that thing in on the new Roadster next decade!
