Depending on when exactly your car was made, it has 1.0 or 2.0 (2.0 came out in August 2016, with the eight cameras). August 2017 added the faster CPU for 2.5.
Next year 3.0 should add the next version. But none of this really matters if you purchasing a new car.

Right now it’s 2.5 I heard by next year will be 3.0 and 10x faster processor that is problem with hardware verses software if mother board can’t except newer hardware the newer software may not work due to the limitations of

I know exactly what you are going through, wish I could give you better advice. There will be always a better Tesla after time, if you can afford the wait , the time and cost of upgrades to be on pare with the upgrades it’s hard to say.
I'm looking at some "inventory" cars and though they are all represented as "2018 new", some are much newer than others by 6-9 months2.5
But none of this really matters if you purchasing a new car.
