Car chargers in Ocala becoming more prominent
A Tesla Model S is shown plugged into the Electric Car Charging Station on the Ocala Downtown Square in Ocala, Florida, on Friday, June 5, 2015. The charging station was installed by Pearson Nissan and the City of Ocala recently, but it is not in a reserved parking space specifically for electric vehicles. If a conventional, gas or diesel-powered car were in the regular/metered parking space, a person with an electric car would not be able to get a charge on their batteries.

Keith Mackey of Ocala has owned a Tesla model S for about 18 months. At first, he said, even a trip to Tampa might trigger “range anxiety” due to a lack of charging stations but that has changed.
“The drive to the Tampa airport is now a non-event because of the supercharger in Brandon. Likewise, a supercharger at the Turkey Lake Service plaza on the Turnpike makes spending a day in the Orlando area worry free. I’ve had the car to Northern New England on a vacation, using only superchargers for power, and had no difficulties or inconvenience,” Mackey said.
