Capturing a screenshot. Still a service only thing?

So we can save screenshots, but can't access them. Anyone found a way to direct these onto usb storage? Or any recommendations to get clear shots of the console screen for publishing articles? The refresh rate is killing the quality of my pics, not to mention the curved distortion of a close up shot. I'm no photographer though...
