I will be taking a long road trip immediately upon delivery at the service center. Are they likely to have the battery fully charged at the time of pickup?
I did send them a text this morning, but I got a very generic response with a "we try to charge all cars as much as we are able to before delivery, but there are supercharges near by" - making me think my text went to California headquarters rather than to my delivery center. That's why I thought I'd try here for a less generic response. I think your "It depends" is likely the most accurate I can get.This actually is a "it depends" thing. Most of the delivery centers do not have superchargers at them, they have L2 chargers. I would not "expect" a fully (meaning 80%+) charged battery, and it definitely wont be charged past 90%.
I would suggest asking your delivery specialist (via text) when you are scheduled for your delivery, if they can have the car charged as much as possible for your pickup. Otherwise, you should expect it to be charged somewhere between 50% and 90%, with it being random from car to car where in between that they are depending on how they had to move cars around that day.
Map out chargers in the surrounding area, or, even better, plan your trip with a site like abetterrouteplanner, assuming you start with 70% or so battery and see where it suggests you make your first stop, then do that.

You can reply to that email and ask them to charge it up for you.
I found that dealing with the delivery center was a more responsive and positive attitude than the virtual S/A's over text.
My showroom location is at the supercharger location so it was delivered at 100%
They're doing it right in CA. That's the ideal charge level.I've had five deliveries in CA and they were charged between 50 - 60%. So, be prepared. Like what was suggested, map your charging stations now.
