Looks like ARENA has announced (maybe co-incidentally the same day as the EV Strategy announcement?) a new funding round for EV infrastructure: Driving the Nation towards cheaper and cleaner transport
There is $70 million available to support two similar areas: "Innovation in public charging" and "Innovation in management of charging"
Guidelines are here: https://arena.gov.au/assets/2023/04/driving-the-nation-2023-focus-areas.pdf

Quick version:
- They are looking to support "Demonstration of innovative business models, technologies and solutions that address a barrier to the deployment or use of BEV charging infrastructure", "Trials and pilots that reduce the cost of deployment or address technical, regulatory or commercial barriers to deployment" and "Trials and pilots that facilitate integration of BEV charging with the grid".
- They should include "A novel technical, regulatory or commercial aspect to be tested via a demonstration" and "Demonstration of a technically and commercially viable pathway for future projects to be able to deploy similar charging infrastructure"
- They specifically will NOT consider projects that "Have limited replicability, without a pathway for commercial deployment beyond the Project" or "predominately scale up or deploy established business models already tested in Australia". Biofuel, hydrogen and hybrid projects are also off the list.
