Any cons at all today when upgrading from HW2.5 to HW3.0?

I seem to remember when they first started offering it, some folks were unhappy with the forced change to using Tesla Vision and deprecating the radar.

Is there anyone that has made this upgrade and been unhappy with it for any reason?

I want to do the upgrade so that I can try FSD Beta, currently I have EAP, but would like to hear of any current negative experiences before I schedule the upgrade.

Other than the cost, there are many upsides including seeing full FSD visualization. I upgraded from HW2 to HW3 in my MX a couple of years ago.

I personally feel autopilot got worse after “upgrade” 2.5 to 3. Slower response to acceleration and slow downs in traffic.

I dont know what that is. I drive pedal to the metal.

I believe the transition to Tesla Vision happens even with HW2.5, so that’s not a factor. I didn’t see any issues when I upgraded both of our Teslas to HW3 a few years ago.

That's incorrect. HW2.5 remains on pre-vision software. HW2.5 probably not powerful enough run vision.

Also, are you still overall glad that you did the update to HW3.0 - or would you have not done it given then chance to decide again?

HW2 cars keep radar, HW3 is forced to vision only. I’d personally keep HW2.5 if it were me

Not if they want to use FSD Beta. Vision only Beta is much better in all aspects than anything on HW1 or 2/2.5.

I can't say the same for AP or TACC. I don't use AP and have TACC disabled.
