50AMP Ext. Cord Management

I recently purchased a 50 foot NEMA 14-50 extension cord and its a beast to deal with when not in use... it sits in my driveway like a sore thumb.

I am reaching out to the forum for advise on how to best store coil the massive cable.

How thick is the cable and how much does the whole 50 foot piece weigh?

You can use garden hose storage so long as you unroll it before use. To manually coil it lay it in a figure eight, like rope is stored on the decks of ships.

That's why I built a cable that has no neutral wire and as made of rubber that stays flexible when it's cold. It's not much harder than a normal extension cord to handle, other than it's heavier.

I bought one of those 50' beasts too! I have used it at a rental property I own (to get from the kitchen stove outlet down to the garage and out to the driveway) and at a friends summer lake house for the same purpose.

Mine just stays coiled up at the bottom of my frunk (I have an older RWD car with the big frunk).
