    Intermittent Wiper Failure

You can open a service request for problems with software updates. Since there's an open recall, everyone should be getting an update, FSD or not, meaning getting this fixed would be a zero dollar item. Just be aware that if you go to the current software rev you'll have the 'intermittent in...

Which refresh? My 2017 is post-nosecone and it's doing it.

    Intermittent Wiper Failure

As mentioned earlier in this thread, when you go to Park it switches from auto to intermittent with the current software. If you want to use auto, turn the wipers off before you go to Park, as it will also keep wiping even if you open the door. That's a bug which was squashed back in 2015 or...

    Intermittent Wiper Failure

Sounds like you have the same issue several of us have mentioned in the thread: they turn in to intermittent wipers when the car is in park.

    Intermittent Wiper Failure

Mine has been fixed since 2023.44.30.4 with the caveat that even on 2023.44.30.8 it still runs the dumb intermittent wipers if you have the intermittent setting on while the car is in Park. Autowipers work fine, and regular intermittent wipers work fine if you disable the auto.

    Intermittent Wiper Failure

Auto wiper is working well for me, except when in Park. It's easy enough to switch when needed. I already had the habit from my other cars with auto wipers, because I hate spare swipes.

    U-Joint Problems

I was mixed up by the comment before mine. It was the NHTSA.
  8. D

    Intermittent Wiper Failure

I finally confirmed on my car that the wipers switch from auto wipe to intermittent wipe mode when the car goes in to park. I had the wipers off during the update. It's a very weird bug, and the .6 update did not fix it. At least the workaround ('turn off the wipers') is easy enough.
  9. D

    Intermittent Wiper Failure

I wonder: did you have the wipers in one of the auto positions during the software upgrade? It's not impossible that there's some absurd bug related to that.
  10. D

    U-Joint Problems

What drove me to file a NHTSB report was that the failure on my car was so immediate. It went from fine to nearly undriveable in a few turns.
  11. D

    Intermittent Wiper Failure

I have a 2017 as well. I'll check to see if it's doing the same.
  12. D

    Intermittent Wiper Failure

That's super weird. Have you tried the obvious reboots? It should be the other way around: wiping in drive or reverse, not wiping in park.
  13. D

    Intermittent Wiper Failure

Is it set to auto? I've noticed the same thing on various versions. It's solved by not turning on the auto wipers until you actually need wipers. I'll have to check on the washer. Didn't try it.
  14. D

    Intermittent Wiper Failure

It came to my car last night. The update brought back both the auto wipers and the manual intermittent mode when the auto wipers are disabled in the menu. It's frustrating that the feature went away, of course. At least it came back, and there's a resolution on the horizon for everyone.
  15. D

    Intermittent Wiper Failure

Very nice. I'm looking forward to the update then.
  16. D

    Intermittent Wiper Failure

If I were going to have a lawsuit shaped concern over this, it would be that a feature on the window sticker was taken away by a software update. The window sticker text is: 'Speed Sensitive Rain Detecting Variable Intermittent Wipers' They are not speed sensitive, rain detecting, or...
  17. D

    Intermittent Wiper Failure

I've tried the button dances, a power down, and a full service mode software reinstall. Nothing has changed: the intermittent wipers still don't work. There hasn't been enough rain since I discovered the problem to do a genuine try of the auto wipers, but there was a little bit yesterday and...
  18. D

    Intermittent Wiper Failure

Make that 2023.27.7. Read the FSD version not the software version.
  19. D

    Intermittent Wiper Failure

Add me as one more who is having this problem on a 2017 X running 11.4.7.3. Auto wipers were working up until yesterday. Now there are no auto and no intermittent settings, and of course the rain is the perfect amount to need the high intermittent setting.

Service says $22k for new battery on 2012 Model S

The battery heating symbol does only show up if it's really cold. Slightly too cool for optimum speeds doesn't give you any indication in the UI.

Whats the largest Power Inverter you can use in a Tesla?

If you're running a reasonably sized inverter (i.e. not running a house) the battery ends up being there mostly to buffer the fraction of a second sudden increases in load and sudden decreases in load without anything breaking.

Popping sound when supercharging at 250kWh

That's still relatively cold in battery terms. Target temperature for Supercharging is 50C/122F. If you pack starts at 90F it will warm up significantly as part of charging. If you've been driving on the highway for an hour it's already at target unless it's very cold out, so there's a lot less...
  23. D

Popping sound when supercharging at 250kWh

Is that because you're starting out cold, whereas with other ones you've been driving for longer so you start with a warmer battery?
  24. D

If you fast charge, Tesla will permanently throttle charging

I'm amazed it keeps as good of a curve as it does given that being broken. During SC sessions on my car it's pretty common for the chiller to be running flat out around the 30-60% range in hot weather. Nowadays I've seen rates as high as 161kW around 25% SOC.
  25. D

If you fast charge, Tesla will permanently throttle charging

This doesn't appear to be all packs. Someone on the first page of that thread mentions they have blown well past that limit and seen no throttling. I've seen other mentions of v3 pack owners having no issue, and my v3 pack actually charges at a significantly higher rate than it did when new. So...

Whats the largest Power Inverter you can use in a Tesla?

The DC-DC has about 2kW of excess capacity. You can peak higher because there's a battery pack there as well, just not for long.

Aha, that's why the word 'POST' is there. Makes sense.

    Supercharger - Ashland, OR (LIVE 1 Sep 2023, 24 V3 stalls)

Something interesting about those nameplates: the AC input is 350 vs 387kVA but the DC output remains 250kW. I wonder if it's actually a labeling change rather than a hardware change.
  29. D

Whats the largest Power Inverter you can use in a Tesla?

That is an elegantly simple circuit. It also prevents sending all the power through DC-DC twice and turning some of it in to heat. The only power which heads through that conversion is your 240V. And I agree, it's quite likely that 100W charging will be plenty as that's 2kWh a day or so which...

Whats the largest Power Inverter you can use in a Tesla?

That's where I'm going. If you want a 5kWh setup you're right, the $/kWh shifts to the DIY setup. It's just the small parts that get you if you're rolling your own at lower kWh capacity. The crossover point IMO looks to be around 2kWh as there's a few good looking 1-2 kWh units available. Also...
  31. D

Whats the largest Power Inverter you can use in a Tesla?

I'm not even sure they could as paying extra, once you consider your effort for the integration. The units I suggested are the same cost as your inverter and include basically everything needed.
  32. D

Whats the largest Power Inverter you can use in a Tesla?

They are in Finland. 230V is a single phase and will be necessary to run all the equipment in the trailer. I was thinking of something more like the Ecoflow Delta 2, or the Bluetti AC200MAX. A battery, charger, and inverter all rolled in to one, without having to do any the integration work or...
  33. D

Whats the largest Power Inverter you can use in a Tesla?

Pin 9 and Pin 10 can both separately provide power, probably something like 10A. That's not a trivial amount of power either. It's around 130W, so in use 24x7 you could pull over 3kWh out. If I were going to do this I'd probably get one of those 'solar generator' units which is an all-in-one...

    Bench Seat Handle Rattle

What support told you they would not fix this? Unless there's been some massive change recently they will fix this. There's even a category in the app for noises when you're scheduling a service request. Schedule it up, be polite but firm, they should fix it. It's pretty common for manufacturers...

Supercharger - Cle Elum, WA (LIVE Dec 2018, 12 V2 stalls)

Nothing look cut up. The plug 100% looked like wear, not a cut.

Supercharger - Cle Elum, WA (LIVE Dec 2018, 12 V2 stalls)

This is now the first SC stop I've been to where the cable is frayed open at the plug. Considered changing to a different stall as it was wide open, but went ahead and it worked fine - just a little sketchy looking. Also found a Sawzall blade on the ground nearby, which didn't appear to be...

MCU 1 restarted on its own

The overcurrent bugs are a current software bug, there's a few other threads here about it. Apparently you can ignore them. That's why they are only visible in service mode.

    2018 Model x 75d battery range 12% reduction after 30k miles

Maybe. If it hasn't been charged to 100% in a while it may just be reading totally wrong. Try charging it to 100% and then driving it down below 20% a couple of times. When the battery spends all of its time in the 40-80% range, it will eventually lose precise tracking on the battery state of...

MCU 1 restarted on its own

Those don't look related to the reboot. There's a watchdog on all versions of the MCU which reboots it if the software crashes. If it's happening often you may have a hardware fault. Otherwise rare crashes of the software are a fact of life. The AP computer can also crash, and when it does AP...

Popping sound when supercharging at 250kWh

Both are fine. Charge to 100% whenever you need it, just don't leave the pack at that SOC. Also don't leave it near 0%. Supercharge whenever you need to, avoid it when lower speed charging meets your needs. Don't worry about the popping sounds, they're caused by surprisingly small changes in the...

FS: OEM 12V Battery - Tesla Model X

I personally wouldn't put a LiFePO4 in the older cars. The only ones out there are not treated well by the car. You can buy the AtlasBX battery and replace it yourself, it's not an awful job. The easiest/quickest is just to have Tesla mobile do it, and given the high price of the correct battery...

News for Model X owners with the dreaded shudder

If it shudders under moderate to heavy acceleration, particularly around 35 mph, it very well could be the half shaft issue. However it could also be a leveling sensor problem, given the extra load.

News for Model X owners with the dreaded shudder

How the heck did that happen? Mine has been great on tires, currently 7/32 left on the second set and they are wearing great. I've never had it aligned apart from Tesla doing the one year check.
  45. D

News for Model X owners with the dreaded shudder

My tires have been wearing evenly so I don't have any camber concerns. And I don't want the vehicle to be lower, I bought an X partly because of the ride height. So I'll get another couple of years of smooth riding, then ask myself if I care enough about it staying smooth to spend the money...

News for Model X owners with the dreaded shudder

I'm 20k miles post TSB repair and it's gone from glassy smooth to ever so slightly shuddery. I'll be keeping an eye on it since I have two years of the ESP left, and probably try to advocate for a repeat run at a fix right before the service plan is up. This is a silly design fault but it is...

Trade out of warranty model x for model y?

That was last year right? I know values were up but that's absurd. I figure they'd give me about $38k for my 2017 at this point, based on a couple other dealer quotes.

    Supercharger - Ashland, OR (LIVE 1 Sep 2023, 24 V3 stalls)

Generally I agree, though it looks like they could have managed a couple of pull-through spots if they could have gotten an agreement in place to connect to the adjacent lot.

Navigate on Autopilot is Useless (2018.42.3)

North of here there has been some very long term road construction. There is a section of road where it's been restriped twice due to a lane shift, each time getting ground down before new stripes were applied. My AP2 car has handled it well since early 2018. AP1 cars will happy charge ahead...
