3kw and 7kw charging

My 2018 Tesla S is not charging on 3kw or 7kw at home. I can charge my sons Tesla S at my house with no issues. I can also charge my Tesla at work at 7kw with no issues.
I have tried different cables, switched my home charger with my work charger and made no difference.
When I try to charge at home, it starts to prepare (flashing green) to charge and disconnects, tries again, disconnects, tries a 3rd time and then the red light comes on.
No issue with Tesla superchargers or any other high kw charger
Any ideas ?

Ideas? Generally speaking, it sounds like the car's AC power converter has failed so it can DC charge, but not AC charge. I would have hoped for an error message. Perhaps going into Service mode would show an issue.

Your son's home charger is also ~7kW and charges fine? Are you able to test your cable at your son's house? But if your car charges normally at your son's house and work, there must be something with your outlet. Have you had electrician come by?

Based on your profile, I'm assuming you're in the UK? Is the charger you have at home 3 phase or single phase? And likewise is the one at work 3 phase or single phase?

I'm wondering if one of the phases within your car's inverter went out.

It doesnt work at my sons house and Ive checked the cables, still no joy

In UK, yes thats correct. Assume if its the inverter, its a Tesla fix ?

After you get that red light then get into the car and bring up the service menu (instructions here). You should see all recent and active alerts in the opened service section. When succeeded post the codes here.

If it works on AC anywhere, then the car's onboard inverter sounds good. Start looking at charger settings. This is really weird as you have chargers that work on another car, and your car works on another charger. There is no pattern.

Inverter is built into the car, correct. So maybe worth bringing your car and the cable to Tesla for service check. Good luck.
