2022 Q2 production Model 3 missing matrix headlights?

Thought I would break this out into its own thread instead of buried in the LR Waiting Room since this is a pretty big change and applies to other trims too not just LR.

Maybe we can gather more data points to pin down the date/VIN range for the change and see if anyone has any more info (eg if it’s a permanent change or just temporary).

So far it seems like 4/23 to 4/25-ish production date was the cutoff with approximately VIN of 241xxx

Good idea, since IMO this is way bigger news then whether or not the mobile charger is included. Dont know if it is kosher to link to Reddit here, so appologies if it is not- thread going on this new news there. As I mentioned in the waiting room, I emailed my store and will let you know what I hear back. Orderd my M3LR on 3/4, so getting close, and for me the upgraded matrix lights was one of the main reasons I placed the order. I have a medical condition which has degraded my night vision, and so having good quality headlights is a must have for me. I researched a ton specifcally regarding the headlights prior to placing my order. Would be a bummer if they removed them or went to the Model Y ‘model’ of only having them on the Performance. I would have to upgrade if that was the case, which is a bummer as i dont really want any of the other ’features’ that you get with the Performance model. . ..

I dont mind this being broken out (imo thats the right decision actually), and I also dont mind a link to corroborating information on another site. We dont allow "active redirection of TMC members to another site for views, etc" but whether something actually is redirection or not is handled case by case.

Thanks @E90alex I think that's the right decision to separate it from the waiting room. I can actually visit the new car lot again tomorrow (only 5 min drive from home) to collect more data. From what I see today, the 3 cars with old headlights are:

VIN 237xxx manufacture date 04/25
VIN 241xxx manufacture date 04/27
VIN 242xxx manufacture date 04/26 (one day after the previous car with higher VIN? hmm)

The ones with new headlight
VIN 2400xx manufacture date 04/22
VIN 2405xx manufacture date 04/23

All the perf model have the new headlight up to 04/28.

I am just reading about it now. Would not be happy if ours doesn’t come with them. So 241xxx+ is presumed to be without matrix lights? Ours is 236xxx. Is it safe to say it will likely come with matrix lights?

I wonder what happens if they come without it? Can we deny delivery and say make one with the matrix headlight because thats how we placed our order…with the headlights in mind. I mean if they’re promising mobile connectors on orders before 4/17….why would they ship cars without the headlights?? Genuinely considering denying delivery if the matrix’s arent on there when we ordered them with it….anybody else have any news or thoughts? Thanks.

Model Y always had the old lights except for Performance.

But more Model 3 with the old lights is not a good sign.

I should be receiving my M3LR EOM and am fully expecting the "New" headlights. Hopefully enough attention gets drawn to this before my car is built and they come back

That is absolutely bullshit! I hope they make the damn thing retrofit possible. How are you gonna deliver cars withour a key update part just to make deliveries on time?! Oh yea the supply is short so now we’re actually gonna remove the headlights, power trunk, ryzen chip and dual pane glass, but here ya go (obviously an exaggeration)…but still.

Is it just me because id rather wait another month and get the substantially better headlights or are people not giving a crap? Just my two cents…
