I don't have a clue. Only one car had white tape on the charger port and I think only two cars had a sticker above the QR code/vin sticker, stating charger ECU PN. EDIT: they were 4/16/22 and 4/15/22 builds. Vin 231XXX and 235XXX.

I am pretty confident that part is the Charger ECU.

Drove by my local Tesla lot, they did receive additional model Ys and a couple 3s. I noticed on a few of them an additional notice stating "Charger ECU PN" and one of them had white tape on the charge port door. I am guessing the rumor is true.

Tesla does not offer insurance in my state yet but even if they did, I would not buy insurance through them. I would not want my insurance provider knowing how I plan to drive my performance vehicle.
