2020.40.4 vs 2020.40.8???

I just compared the release notes and there seems to be no difference for the model 3...?? Is the only difference the range increase for the model Y? Why are we getting this update.....

Usually when there's a point release with no release note changes it's bug fixes.

Note Green has suggested .8 and .8.10 (the FSD beta) have the same underlying code, so possibly it's also putting some behind the scenes stuff in place for that.

Difference I noticed is my car went from 293 stated miles at max charge to 290.

What I've noticed so far in this update...

All three phantom braking locations that I drive through on a regular basis are fixed. Completely.

The AP doesn't slow down nearly as much through certain curves as it used to.

AP can be engaged on sections of road that it would previously refuse to engage on.

This last one is highly subjective, but to *me* and in my particular car, lane keeping is much better; there is much less lane wandering than before.

Speed Limit signs that the car previously wouldn't recognize now show up.

I hate to post subjective stuff, so take those thoughts with the proverbial grain of salt.

My wife has started to call our Tesla "The Other Woman." Yeah, I might be spending just a tad too much time with my car.
