Tail Light Retrofit- AMBER turn signal

Glad to see all the love for amber turn signals, but I still recommend tapping the side repeater signals for immediate response to the rear tail turn signals. It's for sure a lot more work than the plug-and-play adaptor, but it'll make all the difference for when you need to let others behind...

Tail Light Retrofit- AMBER turn signal

Do they lag behind by a blink compared to the front signal and side repeaters? Starts blinking one cycle late when starting to signal, and keeps on blinking one extra cycle when stopping the signal?
  6. S

Tail Light Retrofit- AMBER turn signal

When brakes are applied, your circuit inherently has to miss the first blink to figure out it actually wants to start signaling. Unless you tap the side repeaters, you simply don't have sufficient information until BRAKE stays high AND TURN goes low; then you know signaling is happening...

Martian Wheels MW03 - New discussion thread

@MODEL+ Hi Danny, If you have them on hand, can you help check and see which MW03 color is closest to the shade of the factory Tesla center caps? All the websites say they're compatible with the factory Tesla center caps, but don't advise on which color actually matches. Thanks!

    New Taillights coming?

Hm yeah. If they're in Made in China Model 3, then very likely will appear on US models soon. Seems like China gets all the new features first.😅
  9. S

    New Taillights coming?

I haven't seen any actually. All the new ones with black trim still have the original tail lights. Will have to see if the newest variants with the new door trim also changes out the tail lights to the global style?

Glovebox USB port. Is it 2.0 or 3.0?

Yeah, that's where it came from. Just fact checking it further. The schematics show it as a USB 3.0 port on the computer side, but if the Harness wiring and/or the Port on the glovebox itself only has the traditional USB D+/D-/Power/GND pins without the 3.0 SuperSpeed TX/RX +/- pins, then it is...

Glovebox USB port. Is it 2.0 or 3.0?

The Tesla USB stick is USB 3.0, but nobody seems to have posted pictures of the port. Can someone with a model year 2021 take a well-lit close up photo of the USB port inside the glove box? Is it 4 pins for USB 2.0, or is it 9 pins for USB 3.0? Thanks!

EAP was removed [ car purchased third party ]

All good points. So one solution could be that Tesla should make themselves available to verify a car's upgrade configuration(public-facing VIN checker page or request by email to avoid scrapers), to have everything black and white before cars exchange hands. Similar to how Apple had the iCloud...

EAP was removed [ car purchased third party ]

Good point. Innocent until proven guilty right? Tesla should show proof beyond a reasonable doubt that it was added to the car under-the-tables, then it is probably ok to remote-remove it from the car. Just because there's no records of it being purchased doesn't mean it wasn't part of some...

Audi VW Wiper Blade Set Bosch - 8V1998002A | FCP Euro FCP Euro has lifetime free replacement. Buy once, and just keep replacing forever. Seems expensive considering shipping+tax vs other wipers, but it will breakeven after you replace twice. Compared to the same wipers elsewhere, probably...

    European Spec Aspheric Mirrors

As long as your current mirrors have the wire harness, it is easy. Just buy it when you're on a holiday outside of NA, or find a friend outside of NA. If your current mirrors don't have dimming (don't have the wire harness for dimming routed into mirror housing), you'll have to disassemble more...

Venting - Model 3 should come with the lift pucks

Hey, at least that shop is knowledgeable about Teslas and didn't just put your car on the lift anyway and risk damaging/scratching it. (Google around for many examples of bad incidents.) I'd actually be happy to know that I found a shop that knows about the pucks and knows how to use them.

No more auto-dimming mirrors on Model 3?

Yea I know what EC means. I was pointing more towards the BLACK. Wondering if it meant chrome delete, or if the electrochromic material is now a black tint vs a blueish tint.
  23. S

    Performance Waiting Room

Hi, recent owners with auto dimming mirrors, can you check and see when it dims, is it a blueish-tint, or is it now a black-tint? Example of blue-ish tint from Google images: EPC showed briefly yesterday an EC - BLACK mirror config. Wondering if that is related to this new resurgence of...

    New Taillights coming?

I guess they're calling it Global :) Listed side by side with the old style, so older cars will still have replacement parts.
  27. S

    New Taillights coming?

Yeah I think I'm on the fence in terms of preference, maybe slightly leaning more towards the orignal EU style. (But maybe because of all the effort I spent to get it and then get it working properly:p)
  28. S

    New Taillights coming?

I'm not sure if they were able to convince Tesla to update their config. That would be the ideal method. (I tried asking my service center to modify the config for me, but they were clueless.) I converted my NA Model 3 to EU tail lights using a hardware mod. Check out my instructions: WTB Model...

    New Taillights coming?

Wiring should be the same regardless if it were EU spec or NewStyle. Just don't forget the resistor, otherwise it will think the "combo" turn+brake lights are disconnected and the front/side blinkers will blink super fast. Nope. The tail lights are "dumb" lights. Each element is driven by...
  30. S

    New Taillights coming?

That's still the old part number that 3 and Y shared with the big red bar. I think epc will be updated sooner or later to include the new part number for the big yellow bar. When that shows up, you can go buy it and put it into any Model 3, but the lights won't work properly. I've played around...

WTB Model 3 Euro tail lights

According to epc.tesla.com, Model 3 and Model Y use the same tail light part numbers, so they're exactly the same. With that rumored change coming, not sure if it'll be implemented across 3 and Y, or if it is fake news :P
  32. S

WTB Model 3 Euro tail lights

Yep. I did exactly that. But you might want to hold off a little. Something new/different might be coming and the retrofit to that might be different. But if you still want the original EU-style tail lights: You'll need two really long wires to run from each side repeater, through the frunk...

Model 3 new USB C center console data hub from model Y?

Are you getting a new "tub" so that the hole matches with the port? Or are you leaving it as a TypeC port peeking out a TypeA rectangle hole?
  34. S

Model 3 new USB C center console data hub from model Y?

What's wrong with the PT548? Looks like they'll mate looking at pictures. The gap between the last two pins away from the L are closer together, just like the hub. That can't be coincidence. :)
  35. S

Model 3 new USB C center console data hub from model Y?

#5 Splice/T-Tap out 12V from before cig port and make your own L-plug into the new hubs. (Need to find the mating connector part number and buy from Mouser.) They don't monitor that 12V unless it is a hard short. Should be more than capable to power the hubs, front and rear. Now question is...

Your helpful guide to the Tesla Model 3 parking brake

No, I have experimented with this many times well before this thread. It is not a delay thing. No, I literally said feel it and don't apply pressure on the pedal. Just go test it out on your car if you don't trust my feets. :p You can look at the pedal and see it move down if you want to...

Your helpful guide to the Tesla Model 3 parking brake

I think the "manual" parking brake is a further level than the "automatic" parking brake when you shift into P. Lightly place your feet on the brake pedal, don't apply any force at all, just feel it. Shift into P with a quick push on the stalk button. Nothing happens on the pedal. Hold the...

    Auto dimming mirrors

epc shows a variant called NEC. I'm guessing means non-electrochromic? Interesting to note that the whole assembly also has an NEC variant. Two possibilities: The connector might not be there anymore. Or maybe the connector is still dangling in there unused, but the ASSY refers to the whole...

US and European side mirrors compatibility

I got it just for kicks, bragging rights, and to make it just it a tiny little bit cleaner. I definitely could have spent the $90 better elsewhere, maybe on half a share of TSLA back then. There is no practical point at all. Someone said it might be illegal too.

P3D+ Flexing noise over diagonal speed bumps?

I hear the window seals make some sound when turning out of a sloped driveway or get over speed bumps at an angle. Sounds just like that final moment when the glass slips into the seals when rolling the windows up. So yeah there's probably some body flex going on. Not too concerned about it, yet.

It will accomplish the main intent. I got the passenger's side too just for the heck of it, and to have it without the warning text. www.tesla.com/findus/list I wasn't as upfront straightforward as that. I just kept it ambiguous, and said I just want the parts, will self-install. Left it up to...
