Tesla's Supercharger Team was recently laid off. We discuss what this means for the company on today's TMC Podcast streaming live at 1PM PDT. You can watch on X or on YouTube where you can participate in the live chat.
Hi Guys,
taking a longshot in the dark here... I am looking for Mountain Pass Performance Comfort adjustable coilover kit for the RWD setup. I missed out on a few last spring on account of having other projects...
Ready-ish now for the suspension upgrade.
I am located in Montreal, Canada...
Summer 2018 Model 3 LR RWD EAP "Premium-interior" here. Too anxious / topped budget to wait for the AWD that was coming in the fall.
Agreed upon price was the price I was happy with. Liked-spec was about 5-7 grand less 1 year later.
Don't fret about it and enjoy the the car.
EV-induced...
The knowledge bombs dropped in this thread is truth. I have done many road trips and it still amazes me how great / easy it is now.
I once barely had time to go pee and back and was almost into "idle fee" zone!
Glad you had a safe trip.
Why not? Who cares what other people think. As long as the bore / offset / etc fit. Only thing is to make sure to compare apples to apples.
Titan-7 are forged. The TSS (niiiiiccceee) are flow-formed
QC Brother here... I normally EAP at 120km/h
Montreal-Sherbrooke (Aut 10) : easy peasy - I have EAPed in pouring / blinding rain at night and all it took was going 90 km/h.
Montreal-Quebec City (Aut 20) : nothing to it.
I don't think rain is an issue anymore (if you are willing to drop...
I have the Topfit ones for S/X. Love the extra look it gives.
Was an easy install for me. Brake pedal cover has to be removed but the accelerator goes on top of old one.
The brake pedal is slightly wider then OEM.
All that said - I understand your point of view.
Performance car - might as well use every ounces available.
As long as this is an "informed decision" (I like the french expression "connaissance de cause") and the owner is okay with faster battery degradation, why not?
Personally - I don't...
After a hopeful start to 49.12 - I am seeing the same lacking regen.
100 km/h liftoff get the same huge bite followed by no barely any regen.
80km/h : same
I'll echo this and say my daily is at 80% because I love having full regen available.
90% : you get about 20 miles "slight" limited regen.
I would charge to 85% if there were an easy way to set it at that SOC.
It depends... The range / battery in the main UI represent range @ rated power usage. I would guesstimate 65mph at around 65-70F. Anything more than that and it overestimates range.
AC cost almost nothing. Cabin Heating cost some. Cold weather cost battery range.
The "projected" mile in...
I have just received the taptes wireless charger. Here is a quick look with a Google Pixel 3 XL with their "Version 2" (matte look-updated grip)
1- Charging speed
Folks talk about charging speed and such. I am more in the camp of "top off/fast enough" than "I need 20 000x speed". My phone...
Just received software update. I was eating take-home Korean fried-chicken at my parents and haven't read update logs.
However, seems like Navigate on Autopilot (NoA) has come to Canada!
Right in time for holiday trips!
Can't wait if Tesla improved regen issue. Somewhat better with 48.12...
+1 on the Tuxmat. Showed it to my friend. He immediately bought some for his Giulia. He went to the dealer for a tire swap... and sales advisor immediately ordered some for her Quadrifoglio...
I like 'em because they go up really high, the rear is one-piece and it cleans up very surprisingly...
I found that piece way early in ownership in my garage. I put it in a pill vial.
Did not know what it was for until I found the TMC forums couple months ago... Glad I kept it all that time!
Mystery solved thru the forums!
RE: TACC /EAP
EAP works pretty good in most weather.
Rain : I drove in the pouring rain, the kind you almost can't see through. I wanted to test EAP limits and I "only" had to reduce EAP speed to 55-60mph vs my usual 75mph.
Snow roads : It ping pongs when it can't see the left or rightside...
Have not tried Apple Maps, but it could not be any easier on Google Maps.
You search destination as per usual and the "share" icon has the Tesla logo (it might be buried the first time you use it).
You just click that and the destination will be "pre-loaded" on the Tesla navigation UI. Very...
@Xenoilphobe I am going to nickname you "FedEx" because you always deliver ;)
My reply was tongue-in-cheek but i appreciate the breakdown!
I am also not going to drop "that" much money on rims and I love the 18s (coming from 15 and 16s!)
My goal was to drop some rotational and unsprung...
It is hit and (mostly) miss for me also.
Like other posters said, it will only work in empty space between two cars. If there is two or more spaces, EAP is like "park it yourself bro" :)
The time it worked for a parallel spot was awesome (1 time).
It does crazy stuff like coleAK where it...
HAHAHA
I feel for @coleAK ... I drove a highway that was partly covered with snow squalls and EAP had trouble finding the road to give me the "blue" light.
This highway (Autoroute 10) is well traveled and easy but sometimes EAP could not find the road...
And... sometimes I feel guilty for using EAP because I am not actively driving this beautiful machine ;)
But nothing beats EAPing home after a night shift!
@Electroman
All due respect - my math skills are a bit off/lacking to demonstrate the sheer magnitude of 10-15 times better. 2 times is a half reduction 10 times is a log difference. (Life science here with a nerd math side).
10 times is a 90% *reduction* in events.
2016 canadian stats...
All snark aside... I have seen a lowering of efficiency with the colder temps. As early as 10oC (50oF).
It is takes easily 10-20% - if not 30-40% - more energy right now. Multiple stops really kills range because the battery cools down and must reheat again.
Also, I am not sure how the EPA...
These threads should be renamed to "man (re)discovers laws of physics" ...
Y'all forgot physics 101? Air resistance is proportional to square of speed? :)
And... I'll add two cents to this...
My cousin (non owner) convinced me to get Autopilot on account of it being a marquee feature of Tesla. I hesitated and caved not knowing what it could be. I am so glad I did.
One word : I ain't going back. It is worth it's weight in gold and I would...
Can't find the primary article / stats regarding EAP / Tesla safety, this article picks up on this information.
Tesla Proclaims Autopilot 7× Safer Than Humans In New Quarterly Safety Report | CleanTechnica
Basically, Tesla / highway safety measures the number of incident/accident per mile...
They can reverse engineer all they want... Battery cost is the "nerf de la guerre" - loosely translated to crux of the matter...
I don't think anyone is close to Tesla in battery cost.
Definitely have it checked. My service technician said they are looking into a fix. He told me to carry a lock de-icer product if I wanted to. The port is designed to let whatever liquid flow thru and I could use de-icer safely in the port.
The manual release cable for the supercharger cable (a plastic latch actually) is located in trunk. To reach it
1- Open trunk
2- Left side - above the little well (on top)
3- There is a sort of opening / cutout in the carpet fabric
4- Reach in : you will feel a cable with triangle rubber tab...
