When will there be a 400 mile Model X?

I'm sorry, I haven't been following the various subtle Tesla upgrades but that recent announcement about the Model S getting 400 miles of EPA range certainly caught my eye. My wife saw it too and now she wants to trade in our 2018 Model X for a new one, on the assumption that some future...

Anybody else having voice recognition issues since the last 2 updates?

Well often the text is perfectly recognized and displayed "Turn seat heater on", but nothing happens. And I find I have to hold the button down for a second or two after I finish speaking or it misses the last few words.

Anybody else having voice recognition issues since the last 2 updates?

A month or so ago Tesla released an update which seemed to really fix the voice recognition system. For a few days we were turning on seat heaters and showing/hiding the backup cam like nobody's business. Then something happened. Now nothing works. It either recognizes the command, shows the...

Tesla service and how they treat owners, really disappointed

Yikes, this is a pretty negative thread. These stories seem awful. My experience with the Tesla mobile service here in North Carolina was super. The tech was super knowledgeable and answered all kinds of questions I had. My previous service experience has been with Chevrolet (awful about...

Procedure for replacing a lost Tesla keyfob as of Sept. 2019

I recently lost my Model X keyfob so I tried to research on-line what to do. One place I found said you needed to buy a keyfob, then have it programmed by Tesla ($160). So I bought a used one off eBay. Well that information was not correct. Yes, it needs to be programmed by Tesla, but the cost...

Where is CANBUS connector in Model X?

I wanted to follow up on my original Nov. 2018 post. I recently lost my keyfob and ordered a new one from Tesla. The Ranger was coming by to fix a taillight filled with water and he also brought the keyfob and programmed it. The programming process involves removing this cubby and accessing the...

2nd Row Legroom measurements 5/6/7 seat configuration

The rear bench seat in the 5-seater version is fixed. It may tilt slightly (I can't recall), but it does not slide forward or back. Rear passengers have a ton of legroom. The bench seat is just average, comfort-wise. With the 6-seater version, remember you can't fold the middle row flat so cargo...

Chrome delete for MX in NJ

How is this chrome delete actually accomplished? Is it a wrap? I'm thinking if I ever get a Model Y I'll want the reverse, to make the door handles look chromed!

    Light off roading possible?

The Youtuber "Tesla Bjorn" did some expensive damage to his Model X by going down a rutted road in Norway. I think you're nuts to risk an expensive to buy & repair vehicle like this on an off-road adventure!

Model S/X deliveries drop off cliff, down 56%

It's hard for to grasp how Tesla could do a major update to the S/X with so much else on their plate. And do they even have enough 2170 cells for S/X/3/Y all at once? And then there's Tesla's stated goal of moving everybody into EV's. The 3 and the Y do that in spades, but I'm not sure the S & X...

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

Hi billionaiire, Sounds like you gave the competition every chance to sell you a car. Were there any especially prominent good or bad things about the gas cars? Those of us with EV's can't quite look at gas cars objectively any more. And soon you'll also be seeing those other cars as...

What exactly is included in the $2,000 Autopilot option?

So the price to add "Autopilot" to my six-month old Model X appears to be down to $2000. Can someone explain exactly what features that would give me? I gather it can do highway driving, and maintain the distance between me and the car ahead, like Adaptive Cruise Control, is that correct? That...

    Help! Frunk won't open

I don't know about the S, but on the X you can pop off a little plastic cover on the front lower right of the car in the black plastic area and access a couple of red ribbons. Pulling them down in the proper sequence will open the frunk. The little cover is used to hide the towbar attachment...

Does anyone else have this problem? With the seat upright and the headrest at maximum height, that lower tail of the headrest catches me in upper back and really hurts. Where is CANBUS connector in Model X?

There are a lot of videos on youtube showing how Model S owners simply drop down their little cubby box in the dashboard, and reach in to pull out a white CAN bus connector (presumably for Tesla techinicians). Model X service schedules

    Pulling the trigger! (Amazing community!)

I was only able to add a 30amp circuit at my house (100 amp sub-panel shared with heat pump!). That permits 24 amp continuous charging. Recurring Loud Creaking Noise in Front Suspension / Steering Column

    Tesla Model X A-pillar HELP

You need to watch "Rich Rebuilds" on YouTube. What you're trying to do is not easy. The salvage title may also cause you issues with Tesla software and charging (as it has for Rich). I think it will be a while before 3rd party parts are available for Teslas, if ever.

    An industrial David versus Goliath

I just finished reading George Woodbury's wonderful 1950 book "The Story of a Stanley Steamer". Tesla ride compared to a Stanley Steamer

I just finished George Woodbury's 1950 book "Story of Stanley Steamer" in which he restores and drives a 1917 Stanley Steamer. I found his description of the ride in a steamer uncannily familiar! Remember, steamers had no gearbox and were also silent, like our Teslas. From page 143-144: "The...

Pros and Cons of 5 Seater MX vs new 7 Seater?

I was under the impression that in the 6-seater, that middle row did not fold away but just slid up a little ways forward. So in the 5-seater it seems like you'd gain quite a bit of cargo area as the rearmost seats are placed way more forward than in the 6-seater. So you not only get the extra...

    Paint defects at delivery

Should I buy now or wait for 2019 Model X?

Well the classic response is that if you wait for the next best thing you'll never buy a Tesla because there's ALWAYS something newer in the pipeline. As for the Porsche Taycan and Jaguar I-Pace, I suspect they will be underwhelming unless you're a previous Porsche or Jaguar buyer. After all...
