“Service Unavailable” error message within Upgrades tab in dash

Yeah, I’m having this issue now. Not sure if this is system wide or what. I just picked up my car from service today after they replaced my the computer.

    Model 3 crazy vampire drain

Is your car out in the cold? Cause that will do it. My car will lose 2-3 miles per day if kept in a 70 degree garage. 8 miles if it's 40-50 and raining, I'm sure it will be about 10 when it's 30 degrees. That is all considered normal.
  3. U

    Model 3 crazy vampire drain

I know for me at least, I lose 20-22 miles per day regardless of state of charge and temperature. But something is definitely very wrong with mine. It has been the same way across 6 different firmwares, all the way from the cold in March to the heat of July. Indoors or outdoors.. from 100% down...

    Model 3 crazy vampire drain

Ya, that's more loss than typical. If you have shared your credentials with any service I recommend changing your password to invalidate any previous API Tokens. If you have not, then the only thing left is to verify that Cabin Overheat Protection is off. If it is, and you are only checking...

    Model 3 crazy vampire drain

PS: If you get this figured out, please let me know. Maybe then I could tell my service center to try something to get it fixed. Or if your service center is able to resolve it, maybe just tell me which one it is, and I can have my SC call them. I'll do the same.
  6. U

    Model 3 crazy vampire drain

Ya, my car was losing the same even at those low miles. I'd reach out to your service center.
  7. U

    Model 3 crazy vampire drain

Ya, that is definitely excessive. To better diagnose your issue, can you make sure you aren't using any third party services at all (anywhere where you logged in with your Tesla Account outside of the Tesla site or the release phone app). If you have logged in anywhere, please change your Tesla...

    Model 3 crazy vampire drain

The interval for sleep was not released by Tesla. There are lots of factors though. Has to do with your battery temp and stuff, so it depends on if you were just driving or not, the ambient temperature, etc. So sometimes it might go to sleep after 10 minutes, other times it can take 45 minutes...
  9. U

    Model 3 crazy vampire drain

Ya, the apps constantly wake the car, and every time the car wakes it drains a significant amount. So once you collect your numbers following your methodology, I would recommend checking after 12 hours (more similar to what most people here have done), and multiplying that number by 2. Or...
  10. U

    Model 3 crazy vampire drain

I recommend NOT checking every 2 hours... wait as long as possible before checking. Check only when you need to use the car. Just keep track of how much times goes by. If you keep checking every 2 hours, you will wake the car every 2 hours, so you will have more drain that you would typically...

Ya, I have a loaner, but I miss AP2. They are pretty certain it's not the battery.

    Model 3 crazy vampire drain

87 days now.... Close to a quarter of a year. Originally went in for Vampire Drain, bad AC, and some cosmetic QA stuff. Everything has been fixed except for the vampire drain. They're still not sure what's wrong with it.
  13. U

    Model 3 crazy vampire drain

Please please report back what you hear or if they fix anything. My car has been at the service center for 80 days straight, can't figure out what's causing it.
  14. U

    Model 3 crazy vampire drain

I guess I’m saying if you want a real idea of your drain, or if you are having issues, change your Tesla password to disable Teslogs, and see if that changes anything.
  15. U

    Model 3 crazy vampire drain

If you are using your Tesla credentials anywhere or using the API anywhere, changed your Tesla password (which will revoke your API token), and see how your drain is at that’s point. There are a ton of people that lose 14-16 miles per day if they use any third party apps/services that pull data...

    Model 3 crazy vampire drain

Are you using any third party apps that use the API? Like TeslaFi or Tezlab? Is the car indoors or outside? What’s the ambient temperature?
  17. U

    Model 3 crazy vampire drain

Yes I am aware, I was just clarifying to someone else. They specifically mentioned that they frequently check the app. So if you open the app every 1-1.5 hours, you will keep your car awake all day. But the app on its own is just fine, but if you want to keep checking on the car, then at least...

    Model 3 crazy vampire drain

Do not open the app, that will drain your battery, instead use the widget to check the status without opening the app. Also, I deleted the app from my phone completely and it didn’t make a difference.

    Model 3 crazy vampire drain

They replaced the 12v, it was good for 1 day, then started having the same issues again.
  20. U

    Model 3 crazy vampire drain

Looks like you gained mileage?? Lol, man I wish I had that. Are you still using Tezlab?
  21. U

    Model 3 crazy vampire drain

Well, a lot of the US has been having a heatwave, so it’s possible your car is waking up to cool the battery down? That’s what I thought, they finally tried changing it on Monday and it stayed asleep for 24 hours and was good. (Lost 2 miles of for the first time in 2 months). Then it woke up...

    Model 3 crazy vampire drain

They gave me a Model S loaner after I begged for one 2 weeks later. But it has AP1, AP2 is better now. Also I actually greatly prefer the Model 3 to the Model S. The handling is way better and it feels more open inside. The S feels more like a muscle car.

    Model 3 crazy vampire drain

The car has been at the service center since April 24th. (that was the second time it was there). Originally went in on April 11, and it was there for a week. Got it back for a few days and then it went back in, has been there for 72 days now (as of 7/5/18). Ya, it's nuts! I only got to really...

Poll for Model 3 owners: Vampire drain rates?

My car will be empty in 15 days, not even 60 days, it freaking sucks and Tesla is just telling me that this is normal and to wait for firmware! Ya at this point, it's the summer and I can't road trip in the vehicle. Not unless I get to my destination with enough battery for the stay AND making...

    Model 3 crazy vampire drain

That doesn't work for me. The car pops out of sleep on its own all the time, often once an hour. I'm certain something is very WRONG with my car.

Are any of you guys still experiencing the crazy vampire drain? I’m still losing 20 miles per day with the car garages and idle, and I’m not using any API services like TezLab. Please let’s me know if you are also having the same problem or if your issues have been resolved. Again, please only...

    Model 3 crazy vampire drain

I meant the native tesla app, just in case it was waking my car. I don't use any third party apps.

    Model 3 crazy vampire drain

I deleted the app altogether and it still didn’t help.
  31. U

    Model 3 crazy vampire drain

I had tried this solution before, didn’t work for me. I even deleted the app altogether at one point and didn’t help.
  32. U

@Randy Spencer As I suspected the apps are clearly affecting the results. Sadly I lose 20 miles without any apps... :(

Poll for Model 3 owners: Vampire drain rates?

@Randy Spencer Hey Randy, out of curiosity, did you ever take your car into service? My issues started after going to service for another issue, and I’m wondering if they put my car on some list that’s constantly waking the car to pull logs, and no maybe that opened ticket might be causing the...

I would recommend completely disabling TeslaFi at least temporarily to better diagnose your issues.
  39. U

Poll for Model 3 owners: Vampire drain rates?

@P=VI Crap, that's no good. I'm losing 20 miles a day as well. Though if you are checking hourly, it sounds like might be waking it too, which will cause more drain. I would check every 12 hours to see how much you lose over that time. Also, I'm assuming you aren't registered to any apps that...

Poll for Model 3 owners: Vampire drain rates?

I’m just wondering what we can do? How long do we just wait in this “firmware” fix? At what point does Tesla say “ok something is clearly wrong, we need to replace something on your car to fix this.” I still don’t have any kind of timeline.
  42. U

Poll for Model 3 owners: Vampire drain rates?

I’m on 2018.14.13 and losing 18-22 miles per day :( Service Center says that it’s just a software issue and have to wait until its patched.

Oh sorry, had not noticed that.
  44. U

Poll for Model 3 owners: Vampire drain rates?

No I really wanted to know how much your drain was. Wasn’t being passive aggressive, just wanted to know where you were at with the drain to feel the way you do. If I was losing 1-3 miles per day I would not be bothered AT ALL.
  45. U

Poll for Model 3 owners: Vampire drain rates?

@Candleflame Do you own a Model 3? If so, how much drain are you getting? Also we aren't arguing with how much energy all model 3s should lose. If Dell comes out with a laptop that last 2 hours before it dies, then you know what you are buying.... The issue comes when 10,000 laptops are sold...

Poll for Model 3 owners: Vampire drain rates?

They’ve had the car for over a week now. My AC compressor is bad, so waiting I parts to come in to replace it. I’ve had an ICE loaner, and they don’t know when the parts are coming in. I asked service about this over a month ago, and again when I dropped it off last week, they keep saying “this...

So to fully test this, to make sure my app then shut the problem (Bluetooth or even just constantly polling the car), I deleted the app of my phone last night and reinstalled it 24 hours later. I don’t use any API based apps either. Lost 20 miles in 24 hours. Temp has been around 75-85 degrees...

Poll for Model 3 owners: Vampire drain rates?

I'm not using any APIs Randy, I just check it between drives... usually about once every 12 hours - 24 hours. I'm losing anywhere from 18-22 miles per day, so I'm way way off the curve.
  49. U

Poll for Model 3 owners: Vampire drain rates?

Ya, my Tesla is currently less fuel efficient than my BMW! :( And technically the less I drive it, the more I’m spending on electricity without even offsetting it by distance traveled.
