Wiki Selling TSLA Options - Be the House

I think there are several (many?) of us in a similar situation. I was doing just great making weekly beer money selling OTM CCs. But I wrote 5x -162.50 for last Friday before earnings, which I rolled out to 4x -170.00 for 5/24/2024. At this point, I'm going to watch and hope we have a...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I am not an accountant but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express so cam chime in here. The matching principle in accounting calls for revenue and COGS to be recognized in the same period. So just like revenue is deferred until it meets the rev rec standards to be recognized as revenue and sits on...

It's great to see the SP up over $30 from earlier in the week. My brokerage balances look much better. But you know what's the best thing about yesterday and today? Not seeing the trolls/shorts/FUDsters on this forum! (Not that I see their initial posts since I have most of them on ignore, but...

You think we're going to see QoQ decline in sales? I can see (likely) YoY declines, but I would be very surprised to see Q2 have less deliveries than Q1. I shudder to think what that would do to the SP.

Long form conversation with Jason Cammisa discussing his experience with the new Ludicrous M3. He LOVES it. His overall opinion is this is now the best performance sedan in its class on the market, easily beating the BMW M3, Mercedes and Audis. The Japanese vehicles in this class aren't even...

I'm very curious about today's earnings call, specifically for this reason. This may put to the test the notion that Elon doesn't care about the short-term stock price at all. In general, I'm sure he doesn't. But for the next couple of months? If the compensation vote is really in the bag...

I hope you're right. I definitely agree that the board expects the vote to go their way. Otherwise, putting this proposal up for vote would be complete fiduciary malfeasance. I just don't know how tight the vote is going to be. They mentioned 4 out of top 10 institutional investors have...

I think this is ok to post, even though politics plays a big role in this episode (I promise to not get political). Autoline interviews Mike Murphy, who was previously a GOP operative/pollster, but now is a EV evangelist. He discusses the role politics plays in EVs and provides some...

No new info in Tom Nash's latest video that we here don't already know. But it reiterates the long term HODL thesis perfectly. He is very excited to be buying TSLA right now, as he sees the current negative sentiment as a great indicator of it being a great time to be buying right now. Dan Ives...

Aunt Cathie purchased another 80K shares today. She's bought a lot in the last week. Has she released her new price target? I don't recall seeing it. In any case, she is still clearly very optimistic about long term price appreciation. The spring feels like it's getting wound pretty tight. I...

I think you're right. That's certainly the case for us. I waited to reserve, expecting to buy one in 2025 or 2026. If TSLA is trading at $400, I would absolutely order one now. But no way can I justify it with TSLA <$200.

One key difference between FSD and other things such as anti-lock brakes, back up cameras, seat belts, etc. is the difficulty in implementing the solutions. All the former were easily and quickly replicated by other companies shortly after they were introduced. Not too difficult to design a...

This would be great. I would vote in favor in a heartbeat. However, this idea was discussed back when the judge's decision first came out. One potential problem is that it's not certain it would pass. There are many more shares controlled by institutions today than there were back in 2018...

I would hesitate getting too caught up in quarter over quarter comparisons, especially Q1 v Q4. As we here all know (or at least we all SHOULD know), Q4 is always the strongest quarter of the year, and Q1 is always the weakest. One has to wonder whether you are being obtuse or purposely...

I'm surprised the MMs are letting TSLA rise today. With such low volume, I would assume they could walk this back down to $200 pretty easily. And we know they have an incentive to do so. Any of you day traders selling cc200 expiring today?

Theoretically, yes. However, one must segregate the 2018 compensation plan from a new going-forward plan. Yes, they will work out a new plan, hopefully one with similar types of operational and market cap milestones. But there is the issue of getting shareholder approval for past...

Fair enough. But for more context, the actual question Kimbal was reponding to was something along the lines of 'how long before the steering wheel is removed,' to which Kimbal answered '5 years?'. He followed that up by saying robotaxi could be delivered sooner. But you wouldn't get that...

I didn't see today's price action coming. Are you sure about this? Because I don’t think this is correct. When a manufacturer sells a vehicle to a dealer, full ownership transfers to the dealer and the OEM recognizes revenue. It’s true that the OEM can and often does offer incentives to...

Yep, completely agree. Until there is a change in the narrative that causes some FOMO and much greater trading volume, TSLA is at the mercy of Wally's whims. I don't see earnings report/call changing that in a significant manner. It's going to take time for this ship to get turned around...
