Dows is only marginally closer in mileage than Shelby to OC is... Not only that, but youd likely take highway 20, which is higher speed limit, more battery drain... There is no good option right now without sioux city
No, but you should be able to plug in to 110v overnight (if you are staying) and get about 4mph charge... so if you get a good 12 hours, maybe 50 miles. Given shelby to OC (by 2 lane) is 60mph you may be ok.
Also, im certain a car dealer in town has a charger you could use if you asked nicely.
Yep, they are terrible. Hopefully everyone who uses it will raise the concern inside the store. :)
btw, even the pull in front stall has its bumper too far, so you scrap the front of your car in able to reach the car with the cable :)
Charged their twice today. 8 stalls, 1 pull in front way.
Biggest problem (and i told the owner of the restaurant) was that they put up parking bumpers between the car and the charger. So when you back in you literally have to hit them with your tires to make the cord reach your car. Kind of...
I get why its "needed" but not before other options. Same reason Bethany MO was so crucial (barely got there with my S85, and in the cold its hard with my LR 3). Sioux city just badly needs one. Im sure its coming... all good :) Ill definitely use this one in shelby. More than Council bluffs.
thank you guys... never really understood this charger anyway. If you are going to omaha, there is one there.. if you are going to sioux falls you can barely make it from omaha there anyway. This charger should have been put in Sioux City first. THEN maybe this one later. as a tesla owner...
Yeah< i dont think I can get from there to Orange city and back anyway... Just have to rent something unfortunately... Summer I would have made it work.
Im strongly considering cancelling my reservation. I am a current S owner as well.
1. Charging speed - 80% of my charging is at SC because i use it for work, traveling in my 2 state patch). That speed is a big deal.
2. Size - model s is so much bigger cargo wise. Not sure i need it, but man...
ahh just saw the new SC map... VERY VERY nice for me. Sioux City, Shelby, Bethany, Another Des MOines, Dows. Basically the couple needed badly are Sioux City, Dows (clear lake/Mason city area), and Bethany on the way to KC).
Very very nice
According to the SC map of 2017 Sioux city is getting an SC at some point. I really want one there (as its part of my sales territory).
Id also really want one In Lamoni (iowa/MO border along i-35) a S60 could not make that trip from Des mOInes to KC (nearest service center) without driving 55...
So I did get behind a big rig yesterday for a few miles and noticed next to no difference in energy burn. Plus its boring :)
So i did continually look at the screen to gauge whether or not i would make it home. I do like how the screen updates, given your current burn rate.
So for example...
So Ive only been a model s owner for a couple weeks (already put on 2400 miles , work, blah) but today was the first time i encountered REAL wind. Holy schmoses.
So heading north out of des moines today I made it to my destination with 120 miles of range left. Heading home later in the day I...
I just bought my Model S 85 for well under its value 1. because it was a great deal and 2. because I can get an earlier model 3 (if i decide i want one).
I put on a TON of highway miles, autppilot would be a god send for me.. i just couldnt justify 100k. so ill either get a fairly maxed 3, or...
i didnt mean text.. i meant test.... for instance, once it comes back from being on loan (could be ALL 100 miles, you never know). they will run it through the process.. first the inspection, and fix anything wrong with it... of course if they find an issue they will have to drive it to make...
Well there is a chance it was on loan when you placed ur order, meaning it had that many miles to come home potentially. plus to be in CPO order they will fix it up, text drive it, fix, test drive etc.
I wouldnt be at all concerned about 100 miles
I tell you what... i just spent 2 hours trying to fish from my mic panel to the drivers side (to hook to obd2 or whatever its called). I only have the rear run so far... it is nearly impossible to get something through there. Im about to freaking give up...
I ended up ordering some parts to make the connection for the front left connection... Ive set up the front camera to the cig lighter for now (works great) so i can at least have it when i drive.
So does anyone have any idea how much it draws in park mode at night in your garage for 10 hours...
Im not sure if my car came with it or not, or the previous owner lost it, but I need to get a tow bar asap in case of emergency...
Since im a new owner, would it be bidden anywhere im not aware of? I always thought it was in the charging cable bag :)
If its not hidden, i need one... anyone?
i just bought plain white, a model s 2014 85mwh. I actually wanted red, ordered a red CPO, but bought a white one locally from a dude. I liked the red much better, but the white is really growing on me. ive had it a couple weeks. at night, or when its overcast or dark, its amazing..
Im happy...
yes, because 90% of teslas market comes from people that excel during a stock market crash...if you are paying 75-100k for a car, id hope you are in a position to ride out a crash. If the market crashes, i will buy buy buy buy buy, and come out the other end with enough to buy 5 teslas...
So I was just at the sc this tuesday and the loaner i had definitely had a whine to it. Mine does not.. Mine is 100% whisper quiet, I can not here a single noise from it. Not sure if thats unique or the norm, but i hear nothing.
There was a video out yesterday (or pics actually) that showed the production model (first run) and shows the screen not embedded... If by embedded you mean in to the dash like the Model S... Thats a big deal to me. It wont make me cancel, but I wish they would put it in to the dash, it looks...
So Can someone explain the drilling option a bit more for the rear? Obviously its a small hole and its hidden behind a panel... Probably the easiest way to run the wire correct?
thank you
Ok.. so now that i have my car, im not sure where to get my blackvue installed.. Im in des moines iowa, and i dont see any blackvue installers come up on google.
Im a pretty untrusting person with car stereos.. Ive had too many screwed up..
What would one recommend i do?
thanks
Was probably looking for $250 + shipping (so probably in the $300 range). I have a buddy buying a model 3 (early res) that will get it for $200 if you dont want it... Truly no big deal if you dont.
thanks
Vharl.. i have one... It was one sold with the 2014 cars ($1500 option). It has the longer cable (i can measure if you want, but like 20-24') its used, a few scratches, but in perfect working order.
So how does it handle ipods or iphones? I dont have my car yet, so I dont know. If it indexes well on an ipod, than that seems like a fairly easy (and modestly cheap fix, considering we all spent 50-150k on a car). just buy an older cheap ipod shuffle or something.
or is there a reason that...
i just got mine in the mail today...
its kinda funny i dont even have my car yet, but i have the wall charger installed in the garage and a blackvue waiting as well haha.
well, if they dont get on the same page with this used (non cpo) then its a deal breaker.. no way in hell im taking the risk without the option for the extended warranty :)
Can anyone possibly explain how the communication can be 100% different from different depts within tesla?
So i just emailed the service and support division last night, and got the response that NOPE< NO WAY can you transfer a warranty once its been through a dealer.
Yet 2 different service...
I really think as long as I can guarantee the option of adding the 4 year extended warranty on to this car, and they allow me to take it to service center for a routine look over, then this is a no brainer. same cost, similar upgrades, 25K fewer miles.
I placed my deposit like a week ago today... mine is through its 200 pt inspection, and now at final prep (paint etc). Im betting end of the week or next week. im pushing them pretty hard :) although now i have this local dealer tesla i found that doesnt need a damm thing done to it...
so the service center (2 of them) has checked the vin and said as long as its under the existing 4 year 50 that it will be good to go to extend it.
I have that email in writing from the service center guy... will that hold up? haha
whoa.. hold the phone... in typical Store/Corporate communication there may be a chance...
So I just heard from the Dealer and he said the owner called the store closest to us, and they informed him that once I become the owner, I can then purchase the extended warranty.
So now we have two...
