    Opinions of the 75D

I get 233 miles of rated range on my March 2017 75D with 25k miles. Outside of the battery degradation, really enjoy the car.

    Far West Texas Charging

The write up from @eadsd has me wishing I stayed an extra night at Rio Grande Village and just slept in the car. It felt like a massive inconvenience to charge at the RV park for 8+ hours in the afternoon/evening just to get back to the Chisos lodge and Fort Stockton in the morning, and I...

    Far West Texas Charging

Thanks for posting. I just returned from Big Bend, and your post was helpful. I was coming in from Dallas with a Model S 75D, and I charged to 221 miles at Fort Stockton. Driving somewhat conservatively, I arrived at Chisos Lodge with 48 miles of range. While staying at the lodge, I was...

My car randomly turned itself on. WTF?

It’s weird that this thread was bumped for Homelink, but my 2017 S75D was charging very slowly tonight. I went down to the garage to take a look and the car was on and blasting the A/C with playing music. Very bizarre behavior. I’m on 2018.10.4

Power Coat my Wheels Grey or Black?

If you like the 19 inch grey ones, take a look at the Rial Lugano OE Cap in graphite silver. They were $199/wheel on Tire Rack, matched the OEM tires that came with the car, and I sold the slipstreams. They match the grey Tesla turbine wheels, so I purchased the grey caps at the service center...

Supercharger - Dallas, TX - The Hill

I don’t pretend to know what a supercharger buildout looks like, but if I had to guess, it’d be something like those pictures. It’d be awesome if this comes to fruition, as the 3-4 mph overnight charging I get in my garage occasionally comes up short if on the back of a long trip.

    New X75D or used S P85+

Based on your criteria, I think the S would be the play. I have AP2 on my uncorked ‘17 S75D, and I also have a short commute. The autopilot never gets used on the commute and only occasionally gets used on longer errands/trips. I may be in the minority, but it’s a little more of a party trick...

    Anyone Uncork a 60D (limited 75)?

It took just over 2 hours. They took it for a quick 1-2 mile test drive after uncorking and installing the latest software update (17.44). While the short trip home didn’t have too many opportunities to let her loose, HOLY SMOKES uncorking is noticeable. No regrets whatsoever on upgrading to...

    Anyone Uncork a 60D (limited 75)?

At the SC now for uncorking and rebadging to 75 (upgraded from 60 last week after they said I’d be eligible for uncorking). The estimate given was 2 hours.

    Uncorking official for most 75Ds!

The range alone was not worth $2,165 to me. It was probably worth $500 or $1,000 to me. The performance of uncorking may or may not have been enough on its own to justify the $2,165 to me. Key modifiers here being “to me.” When they told me this week I could be uncorked once I upgraded the...

    Can a 60D be uncorked?

Just got a call back and subsequent email from executive escalation. I was told if I upgrade from 60D to 75D that I WILL be eligible! Boom! Upgrading shortly.

    Can a 60D be uncorked?

Sounds like I need to keep pressing the issue. I was told no last Monday due to the fuse explanation, but all 60D models were being told no at that point. I will go through the escalation on the My Tesla page and see if I have any more luck. It’s a March 2017 build with VIN 185***

    Uncorking official for most 75Ds!

I’m being persistent. I was given the fuse explanation almost immediately after pushing back on incorrect information (“only cars ordered as 75D are eligible”). I just called and the guy said he’d open a concern inquiry or something like that to dig into it further. It sounded like he couldn’t...

75 and 75D variants increased performance from July 1st - software and hardware improvements?

Maybe I’m in denial, but I’m not convinced on the fuse explanation. I posted the Tesla fuse response I received in one of the other 75D threads, and it doesn’t make much sense when paired with the spreadsheet. It seems too arbitrary based on a part varying among a wide and narrow range of VINs...

    Can a 60D be uncorked?

I tend to agree with this line of reasoning. I was given the “fuse explanation” from Tesla, but that was after the same employee provided incorrect information saying “only a car ordered as a 75D could be uncorked.” My guess is all D cars with 75kwh battery can be uncorked and they are trying...

    Uncorking official for most 75Ds!

What I was saying is I thought I would be ineligible because I had a 60D and had not upgraded to the 75D. The service manager said that assumption was incorrect, and the reason my VIN wasn’t eligible was because of the variant of the 75 battery in my car. Apparently some 75kwh batteries had one...

    Uncorking official for most 75Ds!

That’s how I read the communication. He said my VIN was not eligible, but the reason for not being eligible was NOT because it was a 60D. The reason it was not on the list was the 75 battery variant I have (March 2017). Additional info: “It is not the capacity of the battery itself that limits...

Additional info from Tesla Service email...take it for what it’s worth: “In the past, there were 2 variants of the 75kWh battery pack, while it is true that some 60kWh vehicles were equipped with software limited 75kWh battery packs, there's also another component, similar to a larger fuse...

I am assuming I’m not eligible since I have a 60D. I don’t want to pay the $2k to upgrade only to find out I’m still not eligible. I’m not sure how “the list” gets refreshed or whether it’s phased in to ease service center volume. In other words, the range is not enough by itself for me to...

I had my drivers seat replaced (tan leather). It was a little loose at delivery in March 2017 and got progressively worse. Different driver and passenger seats?

As finicky as it might sound, the seats are my biggest complaint on this car. My 2/2017 build has worse quality but same/similar color as my father in law's 11/2016 build. His seats are smoother, softer, and more tightly fitted to the seat, while mine are coarser and quickly developed...

You mentioned wanting to stay as much OEM as possible, but I get tons of compliments on my Rial Lugano OE cap wheels in graphite silver. They match the grey turbines, and you can buy the Tesla caps at the SC for $5/piece. For about $960 between shipping and installation, I was in new wheels...

Documenting CPO in Tennessee - new MS owner

Just my opinion, but you won't miss AP if you never had it in the first place. You stated your #1 was power/acceleration, and these cars don't disappoint (and I say that as a 60D driver). I've owned mine for about 2.5 months, and my AP2 usage has been minimal. It's not that I haven't been able...

I noticed something similar on mine with Hüper Optik 30%. I had a few tiny bubbles on the rear hatch, but many larger ones on the side windows. It's been about 4 weeks, and most bubbles have dissipated. The hatch is completely clear while the side windows are almost there.

I have the same issue. I activate summon on AP2 using the key fob. Pretty narrow clearance on each side in the garage. It executes perfectly about 1/3 of the time. The other 2/3 is some combo of needing to back up and straighten up the car or just needing to restart summon on the fob. Same...

I need reassurance I am making the right decision on a Model S

I can't speak for others, but money doesn't grow on trees in my neighborhood, yet there's little chance my 2017 Model S makes it to year 10, much less 15. I will echo what others have said that it's very difficult to justify financially. That doesn't mean go blow money on what you want and...

Should I order online or through OA?

From a compensation standpoint, I think you're tied to that OA no matter where you place the order. Just make sure to use someone's referral code/link for the $1k off. Need advice on recurrent rotor problems with 2014 Model S

I have not had your experience, but I would keep pushing Tesla. I highly doubt it's possible to ruin rotors on 4 weeks of driving, even if you were trying (which you clearly weren't). 75 price cut and 60 upgrade follows!!

It sounds like I may be in the minority here, but I have a small amount of regret after taking delivery last month and seeing the 75D version of my 60D with glass roof being the same price. I guess I'm not in any hurry to spend another $2k for something I'd rarely use/need, and I don't quite...

    Anti-glare film on Glass roof?

Agree with this completely. I really like the all glass roof, but I wish it weren't as dark and reflective on the inside (tan seats in mine). If someone ever tries this out, I'd be interested to see the results. It's much more of a passenger feature, so my motivation is limited.

    Show off your aftermarket wheels.

I went with the Rial Lugano OE Cap in graphite silver. Since it's on a 60D, I wanted to maintain the range of a 19" wheel and not fret over any minor pothole like I would with a 21" wheel. I like the look of the OEM grey turbines, and I'm happy with the look of similar 19s. I bought the grey...
