    Ditch the extra key fob

Yes this is with my model S. I am surprised that the UI on this point is not the same with both the S and X. Perhaps try setting the profile yet again and maybe even a display reboot?

    Ditch the extra key fob

Ive noticed that our model S gets confused with auto present and unlocking if both my wife and I are approaching the car and we each have a fob on us. Oh, and I've created a driver profile that I call "garage" which I select after parking it. On my garage profile I disabled auto present and...

Someone hit my parked tesla...looking for advice

Not sure what part of OC you are in but perhaps Oceanside is a bit out of the way for you? There are two Tesla certified shops in OC, European (55Fwy and Dyer Road) and Spectrum (Irvine Spectrum area). The Tesla costa mesa SC recommends either but seems to prefer the long standing reputation of...

[R+T] Electric Torque Is No Replacement for a High-Revving Engine

OP just choose a product that best fits your needs while others choose their best fit. Enjoy your choice and allow others the same courtesy. No need to bash peeps that have different needs or perspectives than your own.

For Sale 2012 P85 37k miles. Stunning Charcoal Paint Charcoal 21" wheels. Like new. $68,995

All of these detailed constructive replies of why the asking price is too high reminds of why I personally think its best for me to lease these cars.

    Tesla Model 3 0-60

Some of the drivers (as heard on the numerous YouTube vids) and I am pretty sure Elon himself, have said that the acceleration of the reveal cars exceeded that of the production base model TM3 and was slower than the production performance model. Hence, the reveal cars fell somewhere in between...

Who pre-ordered before the car was seen?

so awesome to see all this, what a great testimony to what TeZla has accomplished in such a short period! We own a MS and it was no-brainer to reserve site unseen. Couldn't get away from work so I did it online about 30min prior to the reveal. Hoping the current ownership, CA locale, and my...

Tesla dent repair: Paintless dent extraction

I didn't comparison shop so I don't really know about the pricing. I figured no matter what it would exceed my deductible so may as well go for the best shop I could. It was $13,000! To replace one rear quarter panel and paint blend the adjacent panels. It literally looks like it never happened...

Tesla dent repair: Paintless dent extraction

When looking for a shop I called costa mesa SC and they said either Spectrum or European (off dyer road and 55) were certified. They said spectrum was newly certified and European was their long-term gold standard. I went with Euro but they are very very busy, took me 5 weeks to just get an appt...

    "Blind Spot Detection is disappointing"

I've tried this idea too and I agree it works great for slower speeds but for me, at higher traveling speeds, it seems that approaching cars can quickly gobble up the area you just visually cleared before you can change lanes. The focal zone for the camera is necessarily short range as it is...

    "Blind Spot Detection is disappointing"

I agree that lane change assist is lacking. I've had Lexus and Mercedes in the past and these worked much better. I've resorted to placing those PepBoys fish eye stick-ons, butnow I am going to see about re-adjusting mirror location based upon what I've seen on this thread - perhaps its time to...

Tesla dent repair: Paintless dent extraction

ditto ditto. At the Irvine Spectrum someone back into our Model S (did not leave a note) and left a golf ball size dent in rear quarter panel (?tow ball on a large truck?). $13,000 and 8 weeks later European motor made it as good as new. I was out a $1000 for the deductible, wish I had known...

    Tow mode for Car wash?

haha good point, perhaps you're right. i thought the OP meant one of those drop it off, walk along and watch it through hazy windows, pick it up on the other side setups

    Tow mode for Car wash?

If you put into N doesnt it automatically pop into P as soon as you open the door? Seems like tow mode is the only option. But I agree, Im leary about putting my MS through a conveyor wash

    2016 Model S Refresh Mega-thread

I love the front refresh! With the classic nose I preferred the darker color cars to help down play the contrasting pseudo-grill. But now with the new nose, I personally like the higher contrasting lighter/brighter exterior colors now.

My extended Tesla Model S test drive

Great post OP! I too come from a list of PDK P cars and German high end sedans (mostly AMGs) and I agree about the interior deficits but I'm loving my Model S nonetheless and I'm not looking back. We all know there will never be any perfect car (just try putting your C4s and S4 through such an...

RWD Model 3 acceleration vs <$40k entry luxury sedans

Rolling start stats, for example 5-60, attempt to give a more real-world indication of a car's day to day functional ability to accelerate. You can be rolling along at most any speed and choose to floor it (either for fun, to facilitate a passing maneuver, or as a defensive evasive action) and...

Keyfob in locked trunk - setting to avoid?

Yes, you can disable the auto lock feature. Then you will just use the fob to lock the car since it doesnt have the touch the door handle to lock function.

How To Leave Car On W/Passengers?

As stated above, I usually use the door ajar method or just tell the front passenger to tap the screen after I exit.

Post Initial Problems with the Model X

What I've done for my MS, is I have an "exit" profile setting (where the seat is moved back and steering wheel is moved upward), this enables me to get out of and into the car more easily. On the "exit" setting I've also deselected "auto lock" and "auto present". This allows me to walk about the...

Poll: How do you feel about Grill-less front end styling?

I like the snub shark-like nose it presently has. The rounded renderings I've so far remind me too much of a Porsche.
  27. FranKim

How will you refer to your Model 3?

I'll likely call it "TeZLa" With the appropriate Elon style emphasis upon the "Z" sound

RWD Model 3 acceleration vs <$40k entry luxury sedans

Great point! And then there's the issue of transmission shift times. Even the super quick and slick double clutch Porsche PDK transmission cannot compare with the utter lack of shift points in a single speed EV.

RWD Model 3 acceleration vs <$40k entry luxury sedans

I've owned and driven multiple quick cars, Normally aspirated, twin turbos, and supercharged (mostly porsches and AMGs) and I am still amazed every time I accelerate in our Model S. Independent of actual 0-60 times, there is something seat-of-the-pants about smooth, quiet, linear, instant torque...

    Tesla website updated again?

To me there's no way to really know. Removing the word "capable" just makes it all the more vague.
  31. FranKim

    Where's the charge port?

Great point. Given the known ability for the model 3 to supercharge and the already in place supercharger network, the charging port will "have to" be in the same location as the MS and MX. The supercharger cables are very short and there is no leeway whatsoever.
  32. FranKim

    Rear End... Hmmmmmm

I like it. Actually its one of the few cars Ive seen that looks good from every angle.
  33. FranKim

    Where's the charge port?

I once saw a MS with twin faux tailpipes, perhaps it was the prototype dual charger?

What is your true Model 3 budget?

    totally agree
  35. FranKim

What is your true Model 3 budget?

For me it depends upon the value of the options. At this point, with the limited information we have, I am at a budget of $60-$70k. I am planning on leasing.
  36. FranKim

A coupe does sound intriguing! It would likely look amazing !!

POLL: Model 3 Options, what will you spend your money on?

I agree. I don't have a compelling breakdown to offer but using the BMW 3 series range as a rough guide paying $60k plus for a fully optioned Model 3 does not seem far fetched to me.
  39. FranKim

POLL: Model 3 Options, what will you spend your money on?

Wish List: "Adjustable" levels of regen braking. We have both a MS and a BEV i3 and I love the strong regen on the i3. My daily commute is 20 miles one way and I can often get to work without ever touching the brake pedal in the i3. (Unless someone cuts me off in traffic haha). The MS gives a...

    The model 3 door handles

Good point about the production challenges. I read that too, about the early prototype, I was thinking that was just a theory though, idk.
  44. FranKim

    The model 3 door handles

I'm wondering if the differing door handles seen at the reveal (with the matte car being unique) is related to options/upgrades? In some ways the matte car seemed to be more optioned than the others given the matte paint and the carbon/magnesium appearing wheels. Perhaps the "upgraded" door...
