Best as any of us can tell the Groveland supercharger is being delayed by bureacracy in awarding the charging location to Tesla, not due to Tesla dragging their feet.

We did it in a 90D two weeks ago, and didn't run into any issues. With an 85D it'd probably be worth topping off in Groveland while you get lunch, just for peace of mind.

It'd definitely be really nice and convenient to have a supercharger in Groveland, but even with a 60 it's still possible to get to Yosemite and Mammoth today. With a 85/90 you can breeze through, and with a 60 you can pay $5 at the Groveland Hotel and use their 80A destination charger for an hour.

That being said it was super easy to visit Yosemite and Mammoth from the Bay Area, using the Manteca and Mammoth Superchargers.

We drove through last weekend and can confirm no work has been performed. Appears to be stalled in the permitting process.

Did you find any difference in strain with the screen between day mode and night mode? The latter seems to be much less intense.

Yes it's ok, Elon has stated regular use is fine for those without home charging options. However a 14-50 would be much more convenient.

I wouldn't go that far, if a supercharger is convenient, go ahead and use it. I live near two of the busiest Superchargers in the world, and there's plenty of free spaces during off hours.

Elon has said its fine for owners with no access to home charging to use Superchargers on a regular basis. No tangible negative impact on the battery.

Most DS's seem to be woefully ignorant about most things Tesla.

1) There's no supercharger in Palo Alto 2) No letters have been sent out since last year, when Tesla found that doing so was a PR fiasco 3) Elon Musk has publicly stated that using local superchargers on a regular basis is fine if you don't have access to home charging (condo/apartment dwellers)

Given the amount of time I spend far away from service centers on road trips, I'm particularly relieved I didn't got for an X, though I'd love to add one to the stable in a few years when they work out the biggest issues.

Everyday I'm more thankful I went with an S instead of an X. The X will be an awesome car...someday, but right now it seems to be a $100,000 beta product with owners being used as Guinea pigs.

No, not at all, I was just responding to someone who was dubious that the HPWC was a necessary accessory for some people.

Nearly every Tesla owner I know either takes their UMC with them in the car, or bought an extra for their garage. At the new price point, the HPWC costs *less* than an extra UMC. Almost universally, the nearly catastrophic charging issues (house almost burned down, etc) have been plug issues...

The charging rate is a small part of the puzzle. The HPWC is a lot more practical and convenient as it's ready to go (vs fishing the UMC out of your trunk and/or dealing with cables all over the place), and it seems to far less prone to melting down vs quality and socket issues with the UMC...

Same here. Confirmed pre-refresh, VIN around 4/15. Got pushed from May/June to June/July. DS is a broken record saying "beginning of june".

Hmm...seems like most Tesla owners have had to take their car into the service center a number of times, so not sure there's much benefit here. My last car, a ford, was only in the shop 3 times in 3 years, all for recalls or yearly service.
