    Tesla Fremont Gen 3 Production

I'm perplexed at how Fremont can maintain the current model 3 rate and also build a lot of model Y. I'm curious what people assume is the facilities total capacity in 2021. If the expectation is for a high number of total cars what changes will Tesla make to achieve a great increase in capacity...

Is Tesla making progress in improving battery energy density?

A 30% improvement in energy density over the model 3 solves all the roadster and semi battery issues. The 30% improvement of the batteries in the model 3 over the original model S is somewhat less than expected improvement over 5 years. Jumping another 30% in three years would still leave very...

    Model 3 Screen Extender

I may be the last to notice, but Tesla obviously designed the smartphone charging location to extended the 15" screen. Especially a larger smartphone can act like another window in the car UI. So apps like Waze or music can easily be used off the phone instead of the primary screen.

    Aluminum Panels?

On delivery day one blogger claimed the door panels were aluminum based on a magnet test. This surprised me, and seemed to be pretty big news. But I've seen no discussion on this topic. Is he wrong about aluminum, or is it not important to most people? The weight of the car is fantastic. But...

Have we seen Daytime Running Lights?

I'm confused as to which lights are on during the day. The most extensive video has the tail lights on and two pair of front lights. I love the front of the car, but I'm confused about what is going on. Do they have the fog lights on in videos?

Tesla Priority Parking at Whole Foods

The EV charging stations at the Whole Foods I frequent is nothing more than parking spaces for the model S and X. Anyone else notice this issue? I have literally never seen a Tesla owner even pretend to be charging by plugging the car in. I wonder how this plays out as EVs become more popular...

    Powerwall 2 and Tesla's Strategy

I'm putting this post in the investor section because I want to focus on Tesla's strategy. Examining that strategy will require discussing the technology. Some thoughts: 1) The pricing suggests that Tesla intends to sell a whole lot of this model to achieve economies of scale, or just a few. It...

China demands actual EVs from Germany instead of press releases

"Under a system proposed by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, 8% of new cars sales would have to be electric as early as 2018. By 2020, that would grow to 12%." "According to SZ, BMW sold 379 000 cars to China this year, but just 1204 of them were electric." German vice...

Does the M3 Intro kill M/X sales increase?

This issue was brought up in another thread, and it raises an important question. I believe the pending X release stalled potential S buyers. How does Tesla avoid a major trend of "waiting for the 3 to decide"? Showing a car the looks like the Bolt wouldn't affect S/X sales, but that would not...

    Autonomous Car Risk to TSLA

No, not a Mod S driving into a school yard and chasing down screaming children. But rather the risk that it seems certain that Tesla won't be the first to have an autonomous car used by civilians.
