Wild hair question.
So now that the chademo adapter is shipping. Is there a snowballs chance in hell that they engineered it to do 2 way? As in Nissan leaf to home? If it does, I will purchase one ASAP! My utility company decided that if I use EV rates that they are going to F)(*K me in...
Although I'm not positive - I believe that the coolant loops run in series with the current single charger. Would like some information regarding that if anyone knows. Also - I just swapped out the Nema 14-50 for a HPWC - there are a bunch of them brand new from Canada for 500$ ish on Ebay...
Put it on Plugshare.com (you should have the app anyway once you get an EV car. Then the people will come! :)
There isn't a better feeling than saving someone hiney when their dash says "charge now" LOL
I stopped and topped off here for a road trip south (there isn't a supercharger until Nephi) This is/was a great Idea for the owner of Pluralsight to have "dedicated Tesla parking" I spoke with a gentleman that worked for Pluralsight*(I was parked in the road charging and he asked if I wanted...
The Microcell option will not work. I have set up COUNTLESS mircocells for customers and myself. The microcell has to LOCK on GPS before it will attempt to initiate network functionality. Not to mention it has to be activated thru AT&T and attached to a customer account. This is to prevent...
It's not all about the speed - I am using a HPWC with single charger. It's just a nicer unit and then you always have the Mobile Charger "mobile" with you :) But I REALLY wish the dual charger upgrade wasn't so RIDICULOUS!
It's ALL about the voltage baby! Now, if I can just stumble upon a dual charger from Santa! LOL Maybe if it wasn't over 3000$ - Hey Elon - get reasonable with dual charger upgrades!!! $3600??? That box that is made in house CAN'T cost more than $350 to build!!! I know it's diamond season -...
Watch ebay for a good deal on a HPWC. I found one for 500$ from Canada, I have heard that they are giving them away close to free to a lot of people in Canada. Then you replace your 14-50 with a HPWC. You cannot "legally" hook up multiple 240v devices to one breaker. A small amount of...
I have to admit that I have pulled into a gas station and there was not a free spot to park and I wanted a hot chocolate. It was a huge gas station (Primm nevada) and there were a ton of gas pump spots open. I even had someone comment that my car was beautiful! I personally don't think anyone...
I have to admit I never anticipated the incredible response to this post. I am happy that it got some attention just for the simple fact that it is truly easy to misjudge your actual vs. rated mileage. It was never in any way to demean anyone- in fact I point out that I made the mistakes so if...
Well being an Ambassador is pretty far from how you represented yourself with your first comment. This is case in point of why personal conversation is BY FAR better than reading. It leaves little important things like inflection and tone of voice to the imagination of the reader. (some...
This is about as close to running out of gas in a plane as I have ever been!
Means exactly that! I have NEVER been close to running out of gas! LOL
Being a pilot means a lot - I was making a point that ANYONE can make a mistake! It was written as a warning to help others. Not to demean...
Also for the "nay sayers" here is the pic while I was charging of the last little run on the way to the supercharger. Here comes all the critics of my driving prior to the 100wMI - to which I say it's mountainous terrain!
Sorry about the lack of paragraphing - My PHD of English grandmother would have rolled over in her grave! I was emotionally drained after the trip. Thanks for all the comments. The funny thing is I have driven that stretch of road literally hundreds of times. Just not in an EV car.
Also...
I am sure it has been discussed. But I am a VERY tech savvy individual. I took the car to northern Utah. It normally resides in Vegas. I was trying to make fast time home and DIDN'T take into account how much the car and battery heater eats up your battery! I stopped at Nephi supercharger...
In life my simple rule of thumb is - Risk vs. Reward. This potential risk is NOT worth the reward. MOST commercial locations now use 3 phase 208. You will see a nice fire if you combine l1 l2 or l3 together! 30MiHr really isn't that slow. There are superchargers everywhere I need but San...
I was annoyed it took that long. I was actually calling NVenergy to see what the install date was and then I logged in and it shows it live. If I wasn't already charged for the night I would go right now. LOL Just remember - I got first on plug in (even though it was dead!) HAHA
If people think it's its truly open - I will take the drive!
I don't think it is tho...

I take it back - it shows live on supercharge.info! :) YEAH!!!!
I've heard that they are "looking" in San Diego right now...But it is seriously a mess for someone that doesn't live there. I almost regretted driving the Tesla down to San Diego - Mom in law is in an apartment! No charge option there. I don't have dual chargers. Yeah- I regretted it! Then...
My experience is the same as when you get home and connect. Even though my "start charging" time is 10:15 - it will use a few amps for a bit - get battery temps correct and if the interior electronics are on (I.e. someone in driver seat - this is huge btw - if you are trying to maximize your...
Barstow is an EASY trip in the 85. Top off charge or close to it in Vegas and anything short of a 20MPH head wind and you can drive 75+ Just watch your power consumption up the stateline hill. I've done the trip 4x in the last 2 months. Easy mode - don't even sweat it. But I am still annoyed...
The main transformer for Primm is going to be located on the front concrete pedestal to the east of the wood fencing. At last look for me personally it wasn't there. This site has been ready for wire and the main transformer for almost 2 weeks. That's pretty much all that is left. That and...
I can tell you that I had a driver contact me from Plugshare - He showed up to my house with zero on the dash and said he had been driving 2 miles approx after zero - 2 things need to be discussed. First off - It is the WORST thing that you can do to the battery to drain it completely. Second...
I'm mad that Rancho Cucamonga won but - we should be next! :) Between these 2 new ones - life in an 85 is going to be MUCH easier now. If we could get something in northern utah slc or ogden and san diego and then benson arizona. I would not even have anything to complain about! LOL No cost...
I would have definitely lost the over/under bet on the 15th. Sad that it has been "ready" for power for so long and we all just wait...No more trips to the border until it' confirmed "testing"
It's almost comical that I didn't look before I drove - but I drove to Primm last evening with a little bit less battery than I should have. To find that they are missing my favorite green box. :( It sucks to drive the speed limit! Not so patiently waiting any more :(
That was my first lesson with the car also - we picked it up in Portland and drove to Venice and then Final to Vegas - I didn't completely understand - so being cautious I was stopping at almost all and topping off. TOOK FOREVER! Lesson learned.
I guess you are right. I am just jealous that I don't have 480! I am going to go look at the superchargers in Vegas today. I remember that the supercharger box says it will take 480. I bet you are right. The efficiency of starting with 480 is dramatically better! I can't remember if it's...
I got the technical data from the foreman the other day - I forget we are all nerds and you will all appreciate it. 200 amps per supercharger - 1.2K Amps service getting installed! Pretty cool actually! I am pretty sure that it is 3 phase 208V *not positive on that one though! (I guess it's...
I'm leaving in 45 to go check it out - I got a nice email from tesla supercharger dept saying thanks for offering to help test - but they have it all under control and will be sending an email as soon as it is open to the public
Here is the progress pic from yesterday. Basically everything is in place but the MAIN UTILITY TRANSFORMER...This is becoming a normal thing for me...LOL
Made comments on Rancho Cucamonga page for it already - Primm update is;
i'm the first one plugged in - pics to follow! BUT! It's not live until tomorrow evening is what a worker dude came by and told me. Although it looks perfect - there isn't a main transformer from NVENERGY yet. So maybe...
Utilities are scheduled for next wed. With testing and so forth probably next Friday...obviously not "official" but talked to Job main foreman. Beautiful site! 12 is a strong number! I got a good in progress pic - will upload tonight.

I personally recommend changing your charge settings to reflect KW hrs instead of Mi/hr KWhr is INSTANT and not averaged out during the charge. You can get instant specifics and monitor things MUCH better. You can see if you are getting your 120-130kw on a single charger in seconds - assuming...
Has anyone heard anything of recent? I will be driving thru north today. Headed back home. Also going to be driving past the rancho cucamonga "in construction" site as well. I am a Tesla nerd so I will have to stop at both. I will get pics if anything has changed. LOL
Any new news? I am driving thru there today. Would be super cool to catch on opening day! Also driving by Primm as well. Has anyone heard anything in regards to either??
Everyone is complaining about how many superchargers are in California - I will tell you one huge void. Its called San Diego - We traveled to my mother in laws - she lives in an apartment. We don't have dual chargers in our s85. What a pain in the A__ that trip was. I was never so happy to...
As an interesting tidbit - I have found that you can call Tesla and find out the "health" of the individual superchargers. Its usually in a % from 80-100% they will tell you which one to use. I try not to bother them all the time with this - but when I am road tripping I always call.
I just stopped by on my way down south to San Diego. It's seriously done - Minus one huge green thing we like to call a transformer and a utility connection. It's seriously a shame to see this site go up so quickly and now we start the hurry up and wait process dealing with Nevada Energy...
That is some great 2 day process! When I was there 2 days ago- nothing was placed other than charging stalls. I am still predicting the 15th ish :)
Thanks for sharing!
CR Moorehead
I was just at the Primm location last night (just craving a little drive time in the tesla from las vegas) It looks about 7-10 days away depending on the speed of the install and configuration. All the underground work is done. The trenching to the utilities is done - all of the concrete...
