Same boat here. '14 S 60 with 47k miles. Charged yesterday to 100% for short road trip and only had 169 rated range. Had to drive more carefully on a menial 61-mile round trip (given some elevation change and ~40 degree F temps) than I have had to in the past.

I wasn't complaining, just observing. Media was treating this as a Tesla competitor, but when it's a quarter-million dollar Porsche, it's not a serious volume production vehicle.

Follow up, this wound up being a drive unit issue and was replaced under warranty.

Welp got my car back yesterday, they replaced the drive unit and it's quiet as a mouse now. No charge apart from original diag fee.

Can't speak for anyone else, but I brought mine in for this issue (and to catch up on recalls). They did the lube and torque stuff. Didn't help. When I brought it back they say they start with that as a default (and it may fix your issue). My tech today said they may have the "sound team"...

My '14 S60 is at the Costa Mesa service center with this very issue. Will let you know the outcome. Several test drives with techs to verify the noise. Not normal. And with only 44k on my odo, not something I want to live with for years to come. We'll see! Edit: interesting thing we found...

I'd strongly suggest having the electrical work done for home charging. One of the best things about owning this car is getting home, plugging in, and not ever having to worry about it.

Taycan is a complete validation of Tesla's business model circa 2013. I'm sure the interior will be very nice and it will handle well. Otherwise, it's technologically outdated. Some will buy it just because it's a Porsche, but there's only so many times you can go to that well.

I support the consensus, more recent the better. Have you test driven them before? If you are only going to have it for a couple years anyway, you could probably get a newer non-P -- these are still very quick cars.

You would also need tint, and make sure any kiddos you stick back there aren't overly susceptible to car sickness. Personally, I'd have a hard time sticking mine back there, reinforced bumper or not.
