Tesla Model S Headlight repair DIY. Where to get parts in Australia?

Now that it's Monday and I've been able to hear back from Tesla on the app, they have revised the estimate to $240 parts and labour. Not worth the DIY effort to avoid that price, so as long as there are no surprises I think my brief exploration into the world of headlight replacement is over.

Tesla Model S Headlight repair DIY. Where to get parts in Australia?

The left headlight on my 2014 Model S has started to play up. It goes out a couple of minutes after starting the car. I booked it in for service but Tesla have quoted $1700, presumably to just replace the entire headlight assembly. From my reading it sounds like this should be a pretty simple...

Model S limited to 16A charging with new Wallbox charger

Tesla confirmed that this was the issue today. They are going to perform the 'upgrade' free of charge but I will have to wait a couple of weeks for parts to arrive.

Model S limited to 16A charging with new Wallbox charger

I don’t. I’m really just driving back and forth to this 32A charger. The house it’s at only has a 40A power connection anyway so I’m definitely not getting higher than 32A without having some trenches dug.

Model S limited to 16A charging with new Wallbox charger

Thanks for that information. I did confirm that the charger provides 32A with somebody elses car. So I need to get Tesla to fix this with hardware. Very annoying. The more I think about it the more annoyed I am in fact. Tesla really should have treated this as a recall. Somebody could get stuck...

Model S limited to 16A charging with new Wallbox charger

I’ve just installed a new (single phase) Wallbox Pulsar Plus at my holiday house. It seems to have been correctly installed and is set to 32A internally. However, when I plug my car in (2014 P85 Model S) it will only charge at 16A (The car reports 16A as the max available. ie the display reads...

Model S Door handle DIY kits in Australia

One of my 2014 Model S door handles has stopped presenting. I previously had one repaired under warranty but I'm not too keen on the price of an out-of-warranty repair. There are various DIY kits available from the US which I would be very capable of installing myself. Given I probably will...

Door handle not responding to pulling

There is a lot of info about door handle issues, but I haven't quite seen this one. I have a 2014 Model S P85, not sure what gen door handles. The right rear door handle presents normally when I approach/unlock the car. A month or two ago it started to need a lot of force when pulling it to get...

Michelin Pilot Sport 4 suitable for Model S P85?

Just a follow up to this. I got the 19" PS4s on my car about a month ago. The Tesla service centre basically said they don't recommend them but so far they have been fantastic (I presume they just haven't been formally tested by Tesla on the vehicle so they won't make a recommendation). They're...

Michelin Pilot Sport 4 suitable for Model S P85?

Hi all, I have a 2014 Model S P85 that need new tyres. I have had Michelin PS3 tyres previously and fairly happy with them. I notice that the PS4 tyres are now available in the correct size (245/45 R19 102Y). Does anyone have any experience with these for the Model S? I know they are popular on...

    Model S hail resistant?

So my aging Model S was parked outside in the hailstorm that went through Melbourne on the weekend. Not much I could do about that once it started. Anyone bought a "raven" Model S in Australia?

I've got to take issue with this sorry. Time is not part of the definition of energy and is irrelevant for measurements of energy. Energy is measured in Joules and power is measured in Watts. They are related by time where 1 Watt is equal to the expenditure of 1 Joule of energy over 1 second (1...

Did I experience a feature regression that got fixed in a software update?

I have a 2014 P85 in Australia. I was recently on a long winter drive to the snow. About 30 minutes into the drive my heating failed. Not a lot of fun but I decided to press on. I had to stop to supercharge at one of the new dual-cable superchargers (Euroa) and my car would not supercharge. This...

Hi all. Does anyone know of somewhere in Melbourne to get a towbar installed on a 2014 Model S? I don’t want to tow anything. Just carry a couple of extra bikes in addition to the two I’m carrying on the roof. The service centre didn’t seem to have any idea. Cheers in advance.

    Spotify on version 9

I too have been getting pretty annoyed about Spotify on my Model S lately. I thought it got a bit better after V9 for a few days, but then turned into a real mess. Insurance. It is that time of the year again.

A quick look online and I can get cover with RACV with agreed value of $110,000 (probably too high) and $2000 excess for $1712. Unless InsureMyTesla respond to my polite inquiry with a substantial reduction in premium, I think I'm about to go through a relationship breakup. I should say that...

Been a while since I've posted here. I just looked at my invoice for this year's premiums with InsureMyTesla. In 2016 I paid $2196 ($1000 excess). In 2017 I paid $2470 (a bit of a jump but not enough to warrant going shopping). This year they want $3897! I will certainly be going shopping. I...

Current recommendations for 19" tires for P85

Thanks for the advice given here. I just went with another set of PS3s. the PS4s don't seem to come in the right size (at least not in Australia) and the Potenza S-04 don't appear to be available here at all. Maybe the PS4s will be available here by the time I have chewed up this set!

Hi all, I have a 3.5 year old P85 Model S due for a new set of tires. Loan car disappointment

I have returned the C200 and am back in my Model S once again. So much nicer! I really have become a car snob since receiving my Model S. Anyway, I was told that it is still standard to offer Tesla loan cars, but on this occasion they simply didn't have enough to hand hence the Mercedes.

    Loan car disappointment

So I dropped off my Model S at the Richmond service centre today to get a few issues resolved, and instead of the traditional Model S loan car, I was given a Mercedes C200. 19" tyre suggestions for P85

I had my car at the service centre last week and was told that my rear tires are close to needing replacement. A bit disappointing that I've only gotten 13000 km out of them. Electric vehicle incentives in Australia compared to rest of the world

I have wondered whether Tesla shouldn't get the US embassy to make an approach to the Australian government regarding LCT on Tesla vehicles. It seems to be against the spirit of the FTA. When the US says jump Australian politicians usually say 'How High?'.

Electric vehicle incentives in Australia compared to rest of the world

Well you'll be happy to know that import duty is one of the few taxes you won't have to pay on a Tesla. Thanks to the US-Aus FTA there is no import duty on cars brought in from the US. Doesn't really make up for all the other taxes though.
