Simple Tesla "Bumper" (for trailer hitch)

I have a hitch on our Model X. Worried about others pulling forward and "tapping" our car when parked (which already happened once, breaking a reflector), I first placed a piece of 2" x 2" x 8" wood into the hitch. IN ONE DAY, IT HAD A DENT! So, I designed a simple "bumper" of 2" x 2" steel...

Tesla USB entertainment issue Needs a fix

Thanks to everyone that reviewed. The consensus is that sw release 8.0 screwed up. I advised Tampa service, to whom I first took this problem

Tesla USB entertainment issue Needs a fix

I suggest that the Tesla entertainment system should display USB recordings (songs) in the same order that they appear on the copied original music source (for example, a CD). That is by Track number, not alphabetically and not randomly. This is presently not the case. I have a USB memory stick...

Tesla ruined the Grande Prix for me

I used to love to attend the St. Pete Grande Prix (this weekend) and marvel at those super-complex Indy Car engines and watch their super acceleration. Now, an off-the-showroom floor, stock Tesla out accelerates virtually all Indy cars (and also Formula 1 cars). And the elegant simplicity of...

    Teslarati = National Inquirer?

What a garbage article today: Father of girl in fatal Tesla crash says it would not have happened in another car. The driver had a blood alcohol level 2.5 times the limit, her father blames Tesla and Teslarati print it??

    Acceleration Shudder

I, also, have this "clicking" or "shudder" problem under the very hardest acceleration. I just reported it to Roadside and the Tampa Service Center. It started within the past two months: 9200 miles or so.

Falcon Wing Door false obstacle detection

We have had intermittent false obstacle detection on our FWDs since delivery Feb 2. So far, service has not yet solved this. However, the problems are now found to be entirely HEAT related, specifically sun shining on the door (s). The heat increases sensor sensitivity until the touchcreen...

"Obstacle detected" - blocking acceleration - very dangerous!

When experiencing problems that may involve a sensor, I suggest making a note of TEMPERATURE, especially heat due to sunshine on a sensor or bank of sensors. Our Model X definitely has heat sensitive sensors on the FWDs and possibly on the bumbers. The sensors will show phantom objects when they...

    Window Tint recommendations - SoCal

We have had our Signature Red, tan seats Model X since February in the hot Florida sun. I find no reason whatsoever to tint any windows. The AC works great and cools very rapidly. Try your MX for awhile, then decide for yourself.

Manure Carrying Capacity of Model X?

This 2 ft x 5 ft platform holds 500 lbs, stores flat against our garage wall. Easy install and keeps all dirt (manure) out of the car.Got it on Amazon. We are very happy with it.

Model X Range Improvement Due to Drafting & Suspension Setting

Regarding the potential dangers of drafting a truck, note that at a TACC setting of #7 that the following distance is about 80 yards at 65 mph. "Do or don't" is up to each driver. Personally, I find 80 yards to be very comfortable and safe.
  14. GordonBremer

Model X Range Improvement Due to Drafting & Suspension Setting

Summary Results at 65 MPH: Drafting at any TACC setting (1-7) improved range 5%. (Difference between settings 1 & 7 was surprisingly and negligibly small.) Lowering suspension from LOW to VERY LOW improved range 4%. (These may not be additive.) For a fully-charged (250 mile) battery, drafting...

    Homelink and Liftmaster 8500

Back to localhost: see my comment above yours (Sunday, 6:55 PM). The Homelink slowly got worse and worse over weeks until I also added antenna. THAT DID NOT HELP. I finally cancelled both door settings and started over, programing both of our doors as I noted above. That did it. It worked better...

    Homelink and Liftmaster 8500

While some or most garage door openers provide as much a 3 minutes to complete the two way info exchange with the Model x, the newest Genies allow only 30 seconds. This requires TWO people to do the set up: one at the opener and the other in the car. They must coordinate and complete all steps...

    Dirty Windshield

    1. We had very minor overspray on our MX Signature windshield when new. It was only noticable when looking into the setting sun. Service suggested scraping the windshield with a razor blade, which I did with Windex as a lubricant. Solved the problem 100%. 2. Then, thoroughly cleaned the...

Miami, FL - Window Tinting Recommendations

We have a Model X Signature, red with tan seats. We find no need whatsever for window tinting. Even sitting in midday sun, the car cools off immediately. The AC works great, keeping the car at 72 degrees with the fan running at #4.

Optimum Supercharger driving speed -- for Model X

Back to Systemcrashed: I would like to see some data on the range increase due to drafting, especially drafting large trucks. On a recent 3000 mile trip, I noticed a signifcant improvement when following trucks, but our route was too hilly to take meaningful data. My guess on improvement was...

Optimum Supercharger driving speed -- for Model X

For the Model S, the post Optimum Supercharger driving speed gives excellent information about the optimum Model S vehicle speed to minimize total time between destinations, including driving time and charging time. Is anyone aware of this type of info for Model X?

Will Tesla Acquisition of Solar City Expand Availability to More States?

I am in the same situation as Skotty. I hope that under the Tesla umbrella that solar energy will have a very high priority to get into other states, like Florida. That will likely require new and different business models on a state by state basis. I look forward to visiting our Tampa Tesla...

Tesla owners' AP reports should be useful: how to be effective?

I suggest that reports from many owners on their experiences with cruise control and auto-steering would have a large, positive impact against the negative and naive views expressed in the press, by Consumer Reports, etc. I, for one, am totally convinced that engaging AP makes the combination...

2nd row seat won't tilt when easy access engaged (half the time)

Funny, but I never had this tilt issue until yesterday evening. We had five people in the MX. The one in the third row could not get out on the right side because the second row right seat would not tilt. Could not check it out at that time. This morning, it worked fine. There were no...

Summon / auto park in garage questions

Do you have wall, bush or other obstruction on one side of the door opening, but not on the other side? Teslas have/had difficulties in such a case. I documented this on the Model X forum and also brought is to Tesla's attention. Search the Model X forum for my user name: gordonbremer.

    Tampa International Plaza location

Unfortunately, there is no Model X in the International Mall showroom. The MX is too heavy to meet mall restrictions. There is an MX available in the parking garage. Hopefully, the Tesla staff will overcome this: perhaps having an MX on the atrium floor on the lower level?

J.D Powers & RDA Surveys are Problematic for Tesla Owners

The very first survey question in both surveys cannot be answered for Teslas, and leaving it blank stops the survey. Thus, a Tesla owner's views cannot be taken into account. I advised both surveys, but no response, yet. The question asks "is the transmission manual or automatic?" No telling...

    Supercharger - Green Bay, WI

I agree that a Supercharger is definitely needed in the Appleton/Green Bay area. I want to travel from Florida to Appleton to stay with family, and it appears problematic save for one of your club members who has offered a HPWC at a home. A Supercharger on the west side of Green Bay (near...

    Summons close call Model X

Responding to Uncgolf: I have had the exact same problem with our Sig MX and advised Tampa service what I believe is causing this problem. Tesla is aware of my theory. I believe the problem is that the summons sensors/software are getting confused by the bush to the left of the garage opening...

    Wrong Way Warnings

Wrong way traffic crash deaths are common place here in the Tampa Bay area. Since Tesla accurately reads speed limit signs, it should be straight forward to read wrong way and related signs. When such a sign is sensed, the car could take several actions. It could sound and flash internal...

Tracking and reporting of reservations, orders, and deliveries

My Delivery Specialist has seemed quite thorough in checking with the factory when answering my questions. The latest: "... it’s our intention to build and deliver Signature Model X’s by the end of the year." I am VIN 00429. Sounds like all Sigs (that get configured) will be delivered in 2015.
