    Cabin heat won't turn off

Resetting the Android Tesla app fixed it.

    Cabin heat won't turn off

Watch App for Tesla, but the behavior continued even after disabling remote access and changing my Tesla account password. Also, the device I use with that app (Apple Watch) is fully powered down.

    Cabin heat won't turn off

It seems to be related to the Android app. Having both an Android and iPhone in the car with key setup on both is triggering this behavior.

    Cabin heat won't turn off

Noticed a new quirk a day or two ago where cabin heat continuously turns itself on while driving. Initially solved it by forcing HVAC off through the app, but it came back. Turning the heat off via screen or app has the heat shut off for about 2 seconds before it comes back on by itself. I've...

    Park Assist Unavailable

Tesla found a loose connector on the AP computer. Any thoughts on where this is located in the Model 3?

    Park Assist Unavailable

I started getting this error a few days ago. Tesla claims the radar is the problem. There's something about firmware mismatch when I looked in service mode (full error code is GTW_w037_RADCversionMismatch ). I have a 2018 Model 3 that was upgraded from the 2.5 to the HW3 computer 6 weeks ago...

    Front-end Alignments - Pittsburgh area

I have not aligned the car yet. My tire shop recommended lower pressure as the center tread was gone all the way around. I now run 40 PSI instead of 44. I'm trying this for a few thousand miles and see what the wear is.

    Front-end Alignments - Pittsburgh area

Has anyone had luck finding someone that can do a proper front-end alignment? In my fleet, my Model 3 is the only car that steers straight, but the insides of my front tires are gone after 18,000 miles. I'm scared of the Wexford service center after a year of horror stories from 2 other owners...

Model X towing a Safari Condo A-2124 trailer

I’m looking at this same trailer, but thinking about using a Y as the tow vehicle. It meets the weight requirements, but I’m curious on rear view visibility given that the Y is narrower.

Turning AP off while maintaining TACC

I thought Automatic lane change, where the car decides to change lanes on its own, was an FSD feature. Basic AP lane change by putting on the turn signal should be a regular Autopilot feature as it’s been present since Auto-steer was released. Or, has this changed in newer cars? Newest Tesla...

All used Tesla’s losing FUSC when sold?

Well, so far so good. He got the app set up a while back and so far still has free unlimited Supercharging.
  12. P

All used Tesla’s losing FUSC when sold?

Wasn’t free and unlimited for life still in full effect in 2016? The first announcements of limitation that I remember came in 2017 before the Model 3 launch.
  13. P

All used Tesla’s losing FUSC when sold?

Anyone have experience buying a used Tesla outside of Tesla (private party or conventional dealer)? My friend just bought a used 2016 Tesla, which has Free unlimited Supercharging at the moment, but we’re seeing musings of that being revoked. While on the phone with Tesla to set up the app, they...

    Model 3 Handover Event -- July 28, 2017

It did beat it on price, though. Bolt starts at $37,995, so those extra 18 miles costs $3,000 if you look at pure range. I agree, though. Lots of info missing, but I guess we'll learn more from the 30(+) people getting cars tonight and once the site is updated. I would really hope that by "all...

    Model 3 Handover Event -- July 28, 2017

Ok. How do you watch the stream without reserving a car? Tesla's site finally changed but I can't get past a reserve page.

    Model 3 RC sightings

How often are 3s parked at the factory? Just curious on whether the factory or HQ would be a better spot to catch a 3.

"Handover party for first 30 customer Model 3's on (July) 28th!"

I think that was a hint at the April Fool's joke Elon made at the initial reveal. "We don't have the car here tonight", then brings out 3 of them.

    Model 3 RC sightings

Yes, but the A/C and visibility are unmatched in the fleet.

    Tesla Gigafactory

Thanks. Planning a road trip and just checking out what all can be seen.
  22. P

    Tesla Gigafactory

Glad to see the factory continuing to expand its footprint. Is there any public access to the Gigafactory, like a visitors center or something? I can't seem to find the answer elsewhere (searches only seem to bring up the grand opening).

$2.3 billion Icy Road Regenerative Braking Lawsuit

I don't know how Tesla and others handle it, but my Mitsubishi can sense even the slightest slip and reduce regen if necessary. I've come down some rather steep hills on some very bad roads using nothing but regen on a 2,500 lb. RWD EV. If regen became too strong for the traction available, it...

"Handover party for first 30 customer Model 3's on (July) 28th!"

Figured. Thanks. I knew it was a stretch, but it was an exciting thought as I might be in California at the time. There's a local guy that has early copies of both Model S and Model X. Guess I'll wait until next year to see a 3 in person. This is going to be a long month.

So, dumb question from a non-owner. How does one get invited to the handover party?

There aren't any numbers on the NZ Model 3 that I could see. It has AP2, though.

    Model 3 RC sightings

It looks identical to the RCs seen thus far. Panel fitment is still off, as the passenger door doesn't line up quite right. I still think there's more to be seen that hasn't been shown yet on the RCs. The front lights still look like there's detail missing. Besides all that, doesn't Elon...

Not only that, why/how would one buy an RC and not a production car?
  29. P

    Model 3 RC sightings

Yes and Yes. There is a thin light right above the camera on all 3 vehicles. Chronologically and technically speaking, the turn signal housing has a camera integrated into it. ;-).

    Model 3 RC sightings

Final front (and possibly rear) bumper covers, specs, price, front and rear trunks, final interior, user interface, features and options, and first deliveries. With the Model S, we pretty much knew what the final car looked like, but they still made some tweaks for the production version. The...

    Canceled my Model 3 Reservation

(Don't own a Tesla, don't have a Model 3 reservation, but I do own an EV) My EV is an absolute thrill to drive. Acceleration and cruising is so smooth and quiet. The car effortlessly and instantly responds without over-reacting, and is at home on the highway just as it is in the city or...

    Model 3 Mule Sightings

What I meant by reveal 1 was that, other than color and some minor subtleties, The current test cars don't appear to be much different than what was unveiled in 2016. This is a considerable departure from how the model S was handled.
  33. P

    Model 3 Mule Sightings

From what I remember, the MS alpha was significantly different from the prototype, but from alpha to production not much changed on the exterior. The most notable changes from alpha to production were the tail lights and nosecone. The interior changed with the beta release, and as far as I know...

Model 3 Door Handles - Here is how they actually work

Correct. The door handle lever action is totally mechanical and actuated by your finger, and it appears to have a dampened spring return. The motor you hear is the power latch inside the door, the same as used in the S, X, and Roadster to release the door. Perhaps Tesla could study the seal...

Concerns about Tesla to non-Tesla charging adapters

True. It's the SC access that people want, not so much the HPWC. Ultimately, the standard charging network needs standardized and built out. I've been thinking a lot about this lately, and I would say that standardizing on ChargePoint's equipment would be a great start. There are currently at...

Concerns about Tesla to non-Tesla charging adapters

Well, the Model S J1772 adapter costs $95, enabling SC used to be $2,500. Although, at this point, Tesla would be making 3 different adapters (J1772, SAE Combo, CHAdeMO). So, make the CHAdeMO/CCS adapters $3,500 each, with the J1772 costing $1,000. What price point did you have in mind?
  37. P

Concerns about Tesla to non-Tesla charging adapters

It shouldn't be up to the automakers to install a charging network outside of their dealerships/stores. This is the same as it is entirely 3rd parties that provide the fuelling network for gasoline, diesel, CNG, and Propane. Why is Mitsubishi being lazy? Great question. I don't know why they...

Concerns about Tesla to non-Tesla charging adapters

As a driver of one (actually two) of these "crappy" short-range EVs, it seems to me that short-range EVs so far have collectively outsold the Model S. It also seems that a 300-mile, or even a 200-mile EV is overkill for what the majority of drivers need every day. Also, these EVs don't need...

    Model 3 Supercharging Capable Discussion

Since I haven't seen anyone bring it up, why not find a happy middle ground between pay per use and one-time activation fee with pre-paid monthly subscription? Now, you buy the car without the fee baked in, but you can activate Supercharging whenever you'd like. For example, when one plans to...

"Refreshed" Model S front end vs mock-ups of Model 3 front end!

Having washed a Model X, the moustache is difficult to dry out. If the hood formed the top of the opening, it would be easier, but it doesn't. I don't think it's needed for Bio defense, either, as I don't recall seeing any openings in the back of the slot. Also, wouldn't the car try to minimize...

    Front End... Hmmmmmm

Judging by the height of the front compared to the Model S behind it, I would say the shark-nose front end is for regulation compliance. I knew the 3 was smaller, but I didn't think by that much. My i-MiEV would look like an SUV next to the 3.
  42. P

    Front End... Hmmmmmm

    Perfect!
  43. P

    Front End... Hmmmmmm

That's an excellent comparison. They could blend the lines a bit and make that front end work better. Lower the side creases, then curve it up to where the center crease is, making it one continuous line. Just a recommendation. I would gladly take the car as is. Plus, this is probably one of...

Bolt has FWD and Model 3 does not.

I don't know how the i3 handles regen when a wheel slips, but my Mitsubishi i-MiEV does really good. Even though it is RWD with 45/55 weight, the car understeers most of the time. The only way to get the car to oversteer is to be in a turn and either floor it or pull the e-brake. As soon as a...

    The model 3 door handles

I'm right handed, but it totally depends on which side of the car I'm on. On the left hand side of the car (US Driver side), I use my left hand to open the door. On the passenger side, I use my right hand to open the door, in both cases so that I swing the door away from me. If I use my right...

Plan: Off grid solar with a Model S battery pack at the heart

Does the property-line utility legislation cover rotary converters? You'd have a monster electric motor in your basement that runs an underground driveshaft, spinning a generator in your neighbor's basement. Or, wireless power transmission (if they have the technology for that much of a gap)? I...

Plan: Off grid solar with a Model S battery pack at the heart

Going off-grid has been one of my main goals for a while now. I'm halfway there in that I generate enough kWhs over a year to cover my usage, though at night I'm still putting electrons moved by a combo of coal and nat. gas in my car's battery. While outages are less common now than they were...

Plan: Off grid solar with a Model S battery pack at the heart

After finally reaching the end of this thread, I must say that I am very impressed with your personal power plant. Although I'm still having a hard time fathoming your energy consumption, it seems that your system is pretty well sized. I'm currently grid-tied with no batteries with a...
