Anyone received UWB (Ultra Wideband) phone key functionality on Refreshed MS?

Just curious what the OLDEST Model S and X that have this hardware are. I’m running FSD so my car doesn’t have a recent firmware that supports UWB, but it will eventually. The question is whether the hardware is there, or not. October 2021 build here.

    Renting a Y from Hertz?

I had that happen too a few years back, and all they had left was a stinkin Hummer ! Back to the original thread here, the CEO of Hertz was on CNBC, and said that the biggest reason was the diminished residual value of EVs. The whole business model of the rental car business is the margin...

    Wiki 2021+ Model S Refresh - Missing/Incomplete Software Features

I propose that Tesla have an app store, and additionally propose that X, formerly known as Twitter, be the first app made available. That could get the ball rolling.

    Wiki 2021+ Model S Refresh - Missing/Incomplete Software Features

I’m still waiting (and my Grandsons are angry) that the rear screen still can’t do video games. Then today I see today’s review of the updated Model 3 Highland at Motor Trend. “Sometime after the car goes on sale, Tesla will push an OTA update that allows gaming from the rear screen like you...

    Supercharger - Amarillo, TX - 9900 I-40

Clean bathrooms, a Denny‘s, a small travel store. Flying J could have a good recipe for a highway stop, just like Buc-eyes. Let’s hope these Ultium stations are more reliable than Electrify America. If so , I’d almost choose to eat inside at a Dennys vs fighting the mobs inside a Buc-ees.

    Supercharger - Amarillo, TX - 9900 I-40

On the way to the airport this evening, I noticed these at the Flying J on the same exit as the Bucc-EES. Looks like 4 fast CCS Ultium chargers. This widens the gap between Lubbocks anemic charging options and Amarillo.

    Supercharger - Amarillo, TX - 9900 I-40

I took this shot of the Bucc-ee's site 13 days ago. You can see a lot of the dirt work was already done. As far as Lubbock catching up, Lubbock will have 12 EV fast chargers compared to 48 for Amarillo. The available spots on Plugshare have been 2x - 4x more spots in Amarillo than in Lubbock...

Tesla Wall Connector control via Tesla App 4.23

I now do have it, as of last week. The minimum required App revision was bogus, it wasn't really pushed out until last week. I can see my Tesla Connector in the app, and it shows how much power is going to the car vs how much goes to the house.

    Supercharger - Lamar, CO

This is actually a nice stop. I went into the train station to look at their exhibits , and the people there were nice and friendly. I usually go down I25 returning to Texas but decided to do something different. The roads into Lamar are mostly narrow 2 lane , which is a pain when behind a...

Tesla officially launches Charge On Solar

Here in the non-ERCOT part of Texas, we have a choice of excess energy sent to grid being paid at $0.00 , or for consumer to pay $20 per month to Xcel Energy and be paid $0.017 per kilowatt hour. This is the most insane rate schedule in the USA. Thus this feature would be perfect for me, I can...

    Renting a Y from Hertz?

Tesla Wall Connector control via Tesla App 4.23

The Charge on Solar functionality is what I‘m really after. Unfortunately my Powerwalls are still on 23.12.2 and the 23.12.10 update is required. Updates for Powerwall don’t happen as predictably as for vehicles, so it could be a while before I can try this. Giving excess electricity to Xcel...

Anyone have a VHF/UHF transceiver in their car? If so, any RFI problems?

Nice. I have seen these on luggage racks, but not on a trunk lip mount. I'm a bit concerned that it has a significant amount of projection laterally that may snag on things to the right side of the car, or be attractive to vandals. Honestly, I know for a fact that I would eventually forget...

    Renting a Y from Hertz?

Hertz supplies a phone number to call in case of lockouts, run out of gas/energy, flat tire, etc. I've needed that once, and they had someone on the scene relatively quickly. I haven't needed it with a Hertz EV rental yet. Saw the Hertz CEO on CNBC a couple of months ago, and he said the...

    Renting a Y from Hertz?

I’ve rented from Hertz 3 times, in San Diego and Austin. Zero problems. Autopilot was not enabled, so I spent some time customizing the menu to my specs. I was able to pair my personal Tesla key to the car, which was a surprise. That effectively gave me 2 keys in case one was lost. I deleted...

Anyone have a VHF/UHF transceiver in their car? If so, any RFI problems?

I have used the Comet RS-270 on a previous car, and that worked well. It doesn't have the cable included, and I used it with an N mount triband antenna since it was the only mount that had an N option, since the actual mount and coax is purchased separately. I remember snagging my clothes on it...

Anyone have a VHF/UHF transceiver in their car? If so, any RFI problems?

I'm not sure the aluminum plate is really needed. I thought it might distribute the pressure forces from the mount more evenly along the lip, but you may be able to find other material that is thinner and allow you to get the mount on.

PowerWall Cold Start without Grid Power

For step 4, 'touch wires to 12 v power source', I am assuming that you used an automotive jump starter with a 12v cigarette lighter socket. How much power is needed to jumpstart via the pins? Is this power just signaling the gateway to start, or is it actually using that power to boot...

How far will current selling prices fall after Jan. 1 ?

Can you add a couple options , like $0 -$2k, and “they aren’t dropping in 2023” Also, linking any price drop to the rebates is a false correlation. Prices increase with rebates, and they fall when rebates expire.

How far will current selling prices fall after Jan. 1 ?

With the January 1 tax incentives starting, I don’t see Model 3 or Y prices falling quickly. They could actually go up further. Expect longer range for slightly more money , so that the average sales price continues to go up. Historically , the value of your car falls 15 - 20% the moment you...

    Mounting a Yaesu FTM-400XDR

I was using a Yaesu FT5D in the MS for a while. Having an external antenna makes a huge difference , even if using a HT. The MX and MS are aluminum sheet metal so a mag mount will not stick, and it’s not a good ground plane. An external antenna even without a normal ground plane under it will...
