Cybertruck at Refinery Groundbreaking Gear Frame

Agree - But I bet many CT buyers will have never owned a truck or SUV. The design will get more buyers into the non-sedan market.

Is it crazy to go with the 21" Arachnids in the Chicago area?

Still no issues for me - arachnids are holding up just fine.

Thoughts on Yoke from Plaid owner

I've had my Plaid for 10 months now, just did my first long(ish) distance road trip from Chicago to Northern WI. My opinion about the yoke did not change: It works great and at no point did I regret not having a wheel. Side note, My 2 cars prior to the Plaid were both Mercedes S Classes...and...

Is it crazy to go with the 21" Arachnids in the Chicago area?

I'm waiting for someone to make a set of all-season tires that will work on the 21" Arachnids...hopefully soon. Won't be "max" performance in either summer or winter, but will meet my needs fine and avoid the cost and hassle of wheel swapping.

MS "has a lot more road noise than the model 3"

Having gone from a M3P to a MSPlaid I can confirm that the MS is significantly quieter than the M3. Not even close.

Is it crazy to go with the 21" Arachnids in the Chicago area?

I'm in Chicago and plan on staying with my 21" Arachnids. I drove 35k Chicago area miles on my 2019 M3P with the OEM 20" wheels, no issues at all.

    Plaid Yoke Turn Signals

I like the update - auto signal off has worked 100% of the time for me when changing lanes and I no longer accidentally activate the signal buttons during normal driving.
  8. SVL77

    The Yoke Experience

The latest update already made a big yoke functionality improvement - eliminates the inadvertent turn signal when just touching the signal button. Now you have to give it a push (with tactile feedback) to activate then it stops when the lane change or turn is complete. Good stuff.

    The Yoke Experience

Have had my Plaid for 2 weeks now...and I'm 95% acclimated to the yoke. The process has formed a theory in my mind: The car is so uniquely powerful, it's prudent that the primary driver touchpoint requires some attention and mindfulness. It is a visual and tactile reminder that unless you are...

Keeping it in Plaid mode all the time... any issues?

I've had my Plaid for 5 days...had a Model 3P before, always kept that car in chill mode for daily driving as it felt jumpy and high-strung in sport. In the Plaid, I notice zero difference in low-speed driving between chill and plaid modes. WIll likely just keep it in plaid all the time so that...

good weekend sport car that complement well with model 3 owners

I prefer my weekend fun car to be the polar opposite of my Model 3...loud, thirsty, smokey, manual, and rowdy. That's why I have this:

Looking for some straight answers on Model 3 Performance Tires

I was in the exact position as the OP 2 years ago, put all-season Michelins on the OEM 20 in wheels, and have been just fine driving every day through 2 Chicago winters. No pothole damage or death slides as others predicted in this forum at the time.

How much snow can it handle ?

This is my second Chicago winter with P3D+. Immediately after purchase, I replaced the OEM tires with Michelin all seasons on the stock 20" rims. I commute 50 miles each day (mix of expressway and side streets) and have yet to encounter anything it can't handle. I find it pretty impressive...

Considering Selling my F-150 Raptor for Model 3 Performance

I'm 6'3, 290, and am comfortable in my Model 3 performance. However, I do sometimes bang my head / hips / legs on various parts while entering and exiting the car. The seat is good but it won't feel as big and sturdy as your Raptor. FWIW - When I bought my Tesla I was deciding between it, a...

Did anyone come from bigger size sedan to Tesla Model 3?

I'm late to the party as you have already ordered...but I came out of a Mercedes S Class into my M3P. Can't really compare the cars as they are so very different - other than the fact that both make me smile. Hopefully you'll have the same experience.

Full Self Driving: To Get It or Not to Get It?

I have EAP and on the rare occasion I use it I find myself annoyed by the decisions the car is making regarding lane changes - generally way too timid in Chicago expressway driving (yes, I have it set in Mad Max mode). There's no way I get along with FSD, so if faced with a choice of range v FSD...

Fun day at the drag strip...

Michelin 20" OEM in 2019, Michelin 20" All Season in 2020. Reaction times were .172 and .140 for 2020 (similar in 2019).

Fun day at the drag strip...

I have a 2018 M3P that I took to the drag strip back in May 2019, then again this weekend. I was curious to see what impact time, miles (15k), updates, and switching from summer to all-season tires might have on the times. Far from scientific controls as the temperature was in the 40's last year...

Should I get a key fob

Have had my M3P for almost a year, use iPhone as key while carrying key card in wallet as backup. Have enjoyed a 100% success rate with this, never needing or wanting the fob. In fact, when I drive other cars carrying around a fob now feels like a hassle. So spoiled.

    Winter tires....All (No) Season?

FWIW - I'm in the middle of a Chicago winter running 20 inch Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ All Seasons on my P3D+ with stock performance rims. My daily 50-mile round trip commute includes snow, ice, rain, potholes, salt residue, fluctuating temps, high speeds, lows speeds, etc, and I can attest...

I need some convincing re: M3 Performance

You and I have a lot in common...old-school ICE, long history of driving great cars, and in Chicago. When I decided to trade my S63 AMG this past April, I was considering 3 options: Jeep Trackhawk, Ford Raptor, M3P. I test drove them all and ended up going with the M3P. 8 months later...I love...

Need suggestions for all season tire and wheel setup for model 3 performance model?

Yep. Now I gotta go hop in my neutered P3 to run some errands...just wish it still accelerated and handles better than 95% of the cars on the road. Oh wait, it does.

Need suggestions for all season tire and wheel setup for model 3 performance model?

I went with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ all-seasons mounted on the factory 20 in rim. Little to no difference in sound and ride, sidewall appears to be slightly taller but could be an illusion. Have had 1 snowfall so far, handled it great. Pic shows new tires mounted.

What tires come on the Tesla 3 Performance? Confusion searching answer

Pic of the foam in 20 inch Michelin OEM tires. I replaced with 20 inch Michelin all seasons without foam, little to no difference in sound and ride.

    M3P 20" All Seasons - ON

Both considered and done. Had to do the Winter/Summer Tire Shuffle on my last daily driver (AMG S63) as no all-season tire was available. I've run Michelin all-season tires on two other cars (S550 4-Matic, Jaguar XJ8) and found that when combined with AWD they are more than capable of handling...

    M3P 20" All Seasons - ON

Hi All - There's been plenty of discussion on how to manage winter weather in a M3P. I chose to replace the OEM Michelin's with 235/35ZR20 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ All Season Tires. A few hundred miles in and I can confirm that there is very little difference in sound and ride between OEM...

P3D+ owners, do you like to drive in "Sport" or "Comfort" mode?

Always drive it in Chill with Comfort steering. Sport makes the car feel very high strung and is less relaxing to drive. I came from a Mercedes S63 so I suppose its all in your perspective.

To you, what are the small, lesser known things that make the Model 3 just brilliant?

Thought of another one today...noticed it the first time I sat in A M3: The center rearview mirror. Perfectly shaped to match the view out the rear window and no-bezel design is beautiful.
  42. SVL77

To you, what are the small, lesser known things that make the Model 3 just brilliant?

For me, its the feel of the steering wheel. It's size, shape, and subtle contours fit my hands perfectly - and has a nice quality feel as well. Such irony in the fact that while I tout the steering wheel I don't use it much. :)

    Cellphone mount for model 3

I've tried a number of mounts but the best for my needs is the WeatherTeck Cupfone. It does not require a magnet on your phone, works with any case, holds very steady, and fits well in the M3 cupholder. Plus, I can easily take it out and put it in the center console for a clean look while not...

Mercedes E Class to Model 3 - any impressions?

I traded in a 2015 Mercedes S Class (S63 AMG). In my humble opinion, the Mercedes has the edge in quality based primarily on three things: panel gaps, seat frame sturdiness, and road/wind noise. However, I do feel like the M3 is an overall high-quality vehicle based on it's price point.
