I have the sticker and I put it behind the rearview mirror next to the dashcam.Where do you put it? It would be annoying to have a clunky box obstruct the amazing windshield.
You can do the same with an X. Unless you don't mount a front plate. Is that what you are assuming?Anyone in the Bay Area with a FastTrak pass? Where do you put them in your Model X? With my previous car, I had the external transponder attached to the front plates.
Yes, in CA, the front plates are optional and I was thinking of skipping them unless I had to.You can do the same with an X. Unless you don't mount a front plate. Is that what you are assuming?

I had moved my previous car here from out of state, so it had front plates already.
Thank you for posting Ross. I just saw your comment and am encouraged with your report. The lower right and left corners are acceptable mounting locations as well. I prefer the rear view mirror area for ease of access to the 1, 2, 3 occupant switch and to hear the beep tone to verify that the transponder is working. In CA: I place my FastTrak on the dash in front of the driver and a few inches away from the windshield. Works fine. Then I put it away in the center console.

I brought that subject up with OCTA today in Santa Ana when I picked up my ZEV no monthly fee transponder. They said I should check the Metro website. I have heard about the 3 occupant switch for EVs when driving Metro ExpressLanes on the 10 and 110 freeways, but I couldn't find anything on the web site earlier today. The unit should be set to 3 at all times (for an electric vehicle).
Unfortunately not. FasTrak transponders are required on Metro ExpressLanes. And for free EV ExpressLanes use, mounted CAV stickers and the transponder set to "3" must be used....Does having a registered plate work on express lanes?
Both the Florida Sunpass and California FasTrak use RFID at 915 MHz. The Sunpass works through the windshield in Florida.I called Tesla Motors today, and technical support said the coating on the Model X front windshield won't allow the California FasTrak to work.
I think you are right! Both the Florida Sunpass and California FasTrak use RFID at 915 MHz. The Sunpass works through the windshield in Florida.
I would bet that Tesla technical support does not have the latest information on the X windshield specs and may be assuming that it is just like the S.
