Hmmm, well a sodium battery is a real thing with active research ongoing. Broadbit has been working on this since at least 2012. Anyone speak Slovakian? They are actively looking for investors, and maybe they haven't thought of sending Tesla a sample cell.

General Electric has been making Sodium ion batteries for years. They have a largish plant that had been set-up to make them for locomotives and fixed storage, but have recently been scaling it back. I'm not sure of the reasons.
