This speaks very poorly of Tesla's planning and decision making processes.
There is a post over on the TM forums saying they were told this is a result of supply problems. They're doing it because they'd rather offer front seats only than no next gen seats at all.
Just like they've always been, right? With the auto-lowering, with the fob window opening, with the A vs. B battery packs, with adding autopilot hardware, with... you get my point.
Love the car. Banging my head against the wall in frustration about some of their communications antics...

Even if the reason is supply issues then they're still making a total mess of it.
For example the UK design studio has also switched back to showing standard rear seats, but if I ordered a P85D in the UK today the delivery date is October 2015 so any current supply issue is irrelevant to my order.
