Any Model S owners heading to Blacksburg this fall for Hokie football? I would love to drive mine down there, but the charging options don't look great.
You could always wait until the Nov 30 game and utilize the excellent facilities that UVA has installed in the central grounds garage
Seriously though, take a look at plug share, there are several public charging options in Blacksburg and many along the way. Looks like it's about 210 miles one way from Winchester. Do you have a 60 or 85 battery? I have done 210 miles in my 60 but on I-81 the higher speed would eat up range and you would want to plan a stop for lunch/dinner on the way down and back. If you're a VaTech alum, you should politely harass the school to put in chargers. Maybe pointing out the fact that UVA has a solar powered charger in their parking facility would inspire some friendly competition!
Isletime: Let me know how your journey went, and how charging in BBurg goes. I have a 55 mile or so longer drive than you (255 miles from my house to BBurg), so I would be very interested in how many kW you used on your trip.
Will do.

Regarding that same driving route, I live in Roanoke and travel to Haymarket frequently via I81 to 66. It is about 210 miles. Can that drive be made one way on a single 85 KW charge at I-81 speeds while battling the trucks? Can it be made in winter?
I want to buy a Model S but I have to make this drive every month so it is kind of a big deal to me and it is making me hold back.
