4680’s could go into the 3 effectively dropping the price 15-20% by getting the tax credit back. That would make a difference

Do I have to buy and carry extra charger in the car for long trips?

I ALWAYS carry the Tesla Mobile connector with me and quality 15’ extension cord. My son, my In-laws and many hotels/VRBO’s do not have chargers but nearly everyone has 120v outlets. At 50 miles a night it is not great, but often just enough to make the trip worry free. PS I also carry the...

    Tesla in crisis?

As with many people I was quite disappointed in the Q1 P&D numbers. So, it got me to thinking how could Tesla increase demand other than dropping prices. I am looking at low-cost options. As we have found dropping prices hurts margins, tarnishes Tesla’s “luxury” image and hurts us owners by...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I have and early 2018 with Enhanced Autopilot, not FSD. I have not gotten the free month trial at V11.1 (2024.8.9). Can I really upgrade to FSD for $2000 now as the app says or will I need to come in for a computer and camera upgrade that I hear could be $1500 more? With no people to talk to...

    Still don’t have FSD trial.

I have an early 2018, and no FSD trial yet. Do I need to upgrade to hardware 3.0 or better first and is so what is the cost for the camera and computer upgrades? Thank you

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

No sound logic and this is what Hyundai did to break into the U.S. Market with their 100,000 mile warranty. Another low cost thing I wish they would add is V2H by adding a few 120v or even a 240v outlet so one could power home essentials if the grid were down. Add value for little cost.

There are a lot that could be cut from a Model 3 starting with size as it is still on the large size for most sedans. Think Corolla or Civic. Then basic audio, no rear screen no rear seat heaters. Possibly cloth seats. Smaller tires steel rims….. the biggest advantage I see is getting a car...

Does a battery ever have a positive ROI with net metering

True with net metering there is little to no ROI with batteries. And typically the round trip efficiency is worse than the stated efficiency. Often as low as 80%. If you want or need backup or can arbitrage time of use that helps. But ROI no with net metering.

Powerwall 3 set to 45% backup reserve, at 43% now

The SAME normal variation applies. Do you weigh the same every morning?

Powerwall 3 set to 45% backup reserve, at 43% now

All numbers vary. On a drive the range and watt/mile will change. When you charge bot the numbers will change. The changes you are reporting are well withing expected variability.

Same here. Nor sure if they are late or if our legacy cars do not support FSD.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Very predictable in my opinion as the price for a Model 3 effectively jumped 15%-20% with the loss of the Federal Tax Credit. I wish Tesla would pull out all stops to make the Model 3 qualify again,

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I am all for Tesla selling a cheaper car. But they have very few models so make an economy one. No need to cheapen the 3 or the Y. Or maybe offer a lower trim model 3 or Y, I am OK with that as well.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Possibly, but do they use any US made cells for PowerWalls or MegaPacks? If so can they redesign so Model 3 is prioritized? If I recall the main Panasonic production is in Nevada and Tesla can prioritize space and equipment for Panasonic. While Tesla may be doing all that is possible they...

I have heard from MANY friends over the last year that while they will consider an EV they will not consider a Tesla. I rarely heard that in the past and NEVER at this intensity. It is not worth arguing about. I believe plug-in hybrids like the Volt, and Toyota Primes are a gateway for many people. They also allow for towing far better than the Tesla options for that small segment of the market that does tow. To me the goal is to reduce gasoline use, not get everyone...

WRONG, here is a link to one study, "On average, owners of the Nissan Leaf battery-electric car cover 629 miles a month, while those who drive the Chevrolet Volt range-extended electric car go 60 percent further, logging 1,012 miles." The second link found that 82% of the Volt's total miles...

Yes a PHEV can be quite similar to an EV. In a study back in 2018 they compared the Chevy Volt to the Nissan Leaf and surprise the average Volt drove more all electric miles than the Leaf. We personally have a Model 3 and we had a Volt and now a RAV4 Prime, because trying to tow our camper...

    Israel/Hamas conflict

You are correct here, and think if the Chinese were to arm the Cherokee to the teeth to enable that, similar to how we arm Israel. One difference the Cherokee were driven out some 300 years ago. The Palestinians this generation so the wounds are much fresher. And even if you were to go back...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

For me towing is the weak link with Tesla especially with their back in charging. 250 miles of interstate range drops to 125 when towing. Then you need to often unhitch to charge. So any tow over 100 miles we elect to take the RAV4 Prime. Just a log easier on a long trip especially if you...

I disagree, as I think Tesla has superior products and now the other EV owners will see that clearly each and every time they charge. Climate Change Denial

The biggest challenge I believe with rising temperatures is sea level rise. We built our society, our cities and ports to accommodate a sea level that has been relatively static for nearly 10,000 year. Whenever CO2 levels were over 1000ppm there was virtually no ice caps. No ice caps and sea...

Is it illegal to speed to the speed limit from the traffic lights when the signal turns green?

In Tennessee racing to the next light can and has been called by cops. And if you press it and try to go to court saying you were accelerating “safely” versus the cop saying you were accelerating recklessly. I would not want those odds if I were not the cop.
