I just had 14-50 plug installed in my garage by "Accurate Electric" of Issaquah. it was done very professionally with good work. highly recommended, if you are in this area.
it was about 30ft run in total. From the main panel, he went up above celling (~5ft), another 20ft above celling going side way, 5ft down from celling to the plug. I have 2 supporting poles and the box is attached to one of those pole. He did ask me if I wanted a plastic vs metal box and I've opted for a metal box. Pipe coming down is a plastic one. He also had to move/re-arrange my breakers to make a space for 50A breaker.
their cost is somewhat fixed and I could have it installed right next to the main panel. In that case, it would have been $364 instead of $ 775. & don't forget sales tax + trip fee ($59) on top of those.

someone should pull up the RCW but a brief reading I did a month ago was that electrical work to support charging is also exempt. So, if your 14-50 is solely for the purposes of charging your car, it should be exempt.
Thanks. It's 1.c "infrastructure". As long as you can show that primary usage of the 14-50 is for an EV, you should be exempt from the tax. Not sure exactly how you do that with the average electrician.

You should be good to go. This has worked for many NEMA 14-50 installations. The installer simply needs to keep the form on file. He has no interest in collecting the tax.
