Ok, thanks to this group I just saved myself about $2600 on my 2020 Model 3 Perf! My passenger headlamp went out completely recently (no turn signals, daytime, or any other lights). Tesla quoted me just under $1700 to replace it...in looking closely at their quote it said it was a model number which represented the newer Matrix headlights. They clearly do not replace with reflector anymore. I asked about it and said, so I will have one matrix and one old one...that will look weird close-up and also strange if/when all the matrix features turn on. They said, yep, to replace both is $3300...lol
So I started digging and ended up here. Found a set of OEM (or so they appear) Matrix headlamps (BOTH) for $563 shipped from eBay. I picked a highly rated seller and it all seemed legit. I received them and they looked legit. Part numbers were 1514953-00-E and 1514952-00-E. I took them to a certified installer/repair place by me hoping I could just pay them to install them...they said they can't as they have to buy them OEM from Tesla directly...but they were JUST given the ability to program them. Rough estimate of $150-250 for them to program them.
So I messaged Tesla back asking for a rough cost to program them if I installed myself...quote came back at $97....SOLD! I spent about 3-4 hours replacing them (following a couple YouTube videos) and spent about an hour of that cleaning the radiator since I was in there. Took to Tesla and they had them programmed and out the door within an hour!
I will mention, plan ahead! If your Tesla SC is busy you will want to get that appointment first...I had to scramble and beg them to get me in as they were backed up a week and it sucks with no lights, turn signals, and sometimes FSD/auto pilot if it is too dark. Also, side note, Tesla messaging me said they wouldn't do it at first as they are selling them in North America yet....I was like WTF, you just told me in the quote you were putting them in my car, how are they not available yet...they were like...my bad, yep $97........so friggin weird.
Anyways, they are all in and it cost me just under $700 total for 2 matrix headlamps!
THANK YOU ALL!
