One of the differences for this launch is that IFT-4 will jettison the hotfire ring. This does not mean that this will happen in future launches but SpaceX does want to see if the hotfire ring causes instability in the booster control for the landing process.

This is SpaceX. I can also see them starting with a landing pad for safety but later convert it to a launch and landing pad once they've reached current F9 safety levels.

There was a little extra drama because one of the chutes did not open. Personally, I think I would do one of these if it was a couple thousand, just to be above it all and see the curvature of the Earth. The zero G aspect can be gotten on the vomit comet.

There are some of the NROL/Space Force launches that can't be done by SpaceX because of the size of their fairing. SpaceX was supposed to increase the size of their fairing and set up a way to load payloads vertically. As far as I am aware. that hasn't happened.

Good question, and the answer is that I don't know. I'm sure there is some "objects in orbit" person that tracks all of them. I pretty sure there are only a few that will not eventually burn up in the atmosphere. I looked but couldn't find a list though.

I recommend this launch to watch. Lots of interesting visuals. The payload had to be very light since they used the shorter nozzle, had the boostback for RTLS, while pushing the orbit out to 518 km.
