    Is this not deceptive?

Of course they are. Tesla is a deceptive company.

Tesla mistake on Purchase agreement - How long to get refund?

3 months maybe, 6 months definitely.

Would you Purchase a model Y Again?

…and there you have it. Yet another person looking for someone or something else to blame for their own bad decision to purchase a new car at the height of a once in a generation bubble.

    .99% APR Financing Promotion (May 10 - May 31 2024)

I think big discounts or rate incentives on the Model 3 would be a bad omen… theoretically that car should still be “new” enough to not need them. If demand is flagging already, that’s a bad sign. 😐

Powerwall 3 calibration in process, what is this?

I suspect this has to do with the switch to LFP battery chemistry. LFP cell voltage curve is extremely flat from ~20-95% so capacity measurements might drift over time if the batteries aren't allowed to deeply discharge occasionally.

New owner supercharging first day without app

I sold my Model S privately late last year. When we met to hand over the keys I clicked "remove or transfer ownership" in the app, entered the email address of the buyer's Tesla account, and voila. They got an email in 30 seconds and were able to add the car to their account right there in the...

Regen Braking Decline Toward 100% Charge: Binary or Graduated?

Yes, it is gradually reduced as the battery gets closer to 100% as the pack’s max charging rate is reduced.

    On board Charger ?

More common in countries with 3-phase power (3x 230v @ 32a). I believe there were some Model S/X produced for foreign markets that had 22kw capable chargers, But I’m not 100% sure.

    Model Y Finance Issues.

Do you not get value from say Google search? Same is same. In any case the business model is quite clearly “viable”, these are some of the biggest companies in the world.

New owner supercharging first day without app

If the seller has access to the car via their own app, they can transfer it to you instantaneously. The multi-day thing is only if you have to send paperwork into Tesla to prove ownership (like when buying from a dealer who themselves don’t have app access to the car).

Enjoyed Model Y 3 years now, going to be out of warranty soon, and issues are starting to happen left and right. How is everyone else's experience?

Well sure, I mean most of what we’re talking about here is perspective and opinions. :) As for other opportunities available - of course. We all have to decide what we want to do with our money and how we want to spend it. Maybe we want a nice espresso machine instead of that sweet ultra red...

Picking out the best car has enabled me to find common issues

They’re just parked out in the open. From OP’s story, they did their inspections, found the car that passed the OCD litmus test, and then took that VIN into the sales location and said “I want this one”. They then provided the link to order it as an inventory car.

Enjoyed Model Y 3 years now, going to be out of warranty soon, and issues are starting to happen left and right. How is everyone else's experience?

Doesn’t change the fact that you’re presenting a false choice here to justify a personal risk tolerance. You’re gonna buy a battery/drive unit warranty from a third party on a brand new car that won’t take effect for 8 years or 100k+ miles? You clearly have a MUCH different risk tolerance than...

Enjoyed Model Y 3 years now, going to be out of warranty soon, and issues are starting to happen left and right. How is everyone else's experience?

False choice, one has nothing to do with the other. in your scenario, if it’s really a financial matter of one or the other, you’re still better off putting that wheel and paint money in a savings account and self insuring against issues. Also of note - Tesla’s extended service plans...

Picking out the best car has enabled me to find common issues

Mine has this for sure… didn’t notice it until I installed the roof rack. The entire roof panel is way over to one side, so far that it was difficult to get the rack mounts into the channel and under the glass at the mounting points. The other side is 3x as wide. 😂 Oh well… 🤷🏼‍♂️

    Model Y Finance Issues.

It’s a perfectly viable business plan - so viable it’s employed all over the place in the tech sector. Of course they’re using your data and making kickbacks from others by marketing cards/loans/services to you. Like most other “free” services, you are actually the product, not the customer -...

    ChargePoint home not as advertised

For the record, giving someone correct answers they don't like is not trolling. If your home's voltage was 240 instead of 238, you'd get the extra 150 watts. Unfortunately you can't control that. For your Tesla, yes, it was a waste of money, because your car can't accept any more power than...

Charging at Airbnb with Dryer Outlet During Colorado Road Trip

2022 MYP Tires after 68k miles

If you managed to get that many miles out of a set of tires on a Tesla, you should absolutely not mess with a good thing and stick with the same as a replacement. 68k miles is outrageous to the point of being almost unbelievable.

What do you think caused this electrical fire?

Technically it’s because like all NEMA 14-series outlets, it can be used for 120v OR 240v applications. One of the reasons they’re popular for RVs. Either hot to neutral will give you a complete 120v circuit. Hot to hot gives you 240v. This is the main difference between 14-series and...

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

    Slate style Tesla Roof?

They seem to be quietly giving up on the solar roof product entirely. I’d be terrified to spend that sort of money on a 30+ year investment with them right now.
  29. ucmndd

What do you think caused this electrical fire?

There is no such thing as a 14-50 receptacle that is NOT intended for use at 240 volts. If you see a receptacle marked 125/250v, that means 125 volts hot to ground, and 250 volts hot to hot - i.e. typical split-phase North American power.

    .99% APR Financing Promotion (May 10 - May 31 2024)

I’m just referring to the straight ~10% end of quarter inventory car discounts that Tesla has had on Model Y for the past 3 quarters. A discount off MSRP vs. a rate buy down.

Mountain and Winter Supercharging Issues (CA SR108 SC desert)

Sonora should make 108 a non-issue and is under construction. Looks like it should be open any day now. Arnold addressed SR-4. 88 is covered with Jackson. 120 has Groveland. 140 to 120 has Mariposa and El Portal. 41 to 120 has Oakhurst and Fish Camp. Bridgeport or Lee Vining would be...

    .99% APR Financing Promotion (May 10 - May 31 2024)

Like I said, if you value a low interest rate and don’t mind the risk, this promotion is for you. Act now supplies are limited. Me, I’d take a $5k cash discount over $6500 in possible interest savings over 5 years pretty much every time. I see essentially zero risk that incentives get lower...

Model Y OEM Roof Rack - Whistling

<checks paperwork> My Model 3, Model S, Chrysler Pacifica PHEV, and my 2013 Chevy Volt. None of them exhibited this issue, nowhere near it. No, but thank you for the mansplaining about how noise works. Super helpful. 👍🏻

    .99% APR Financing Promotion (May 10 - May 31 2024)

I made essentially this same post on the first page of the thread. It was pointed out to me, and I tend to agree, that those are very rosy best case numbers. The great majority of buyers are purchasing MYLRs and eligible for the tax credit, so most are financing something more like $45k all...

    .99% APR Financing Promotion (May 10 - May 31 2024)

Curious why you say that? In my opinion a straight up cash discount of equivalent value like they have been offering for the past few quarters would pretty much always be the most favorable option. The money is in your pocket at that point and you maintain all the flexibility down the road to...

Model Y OEM Roof Rack - Whistling

Just put the OEM rack on our 2024 MY, super disappointed at how loud and whistly they are! I’ve had a rack on almost every car I’ve owned for the past ~20 years so I thought I had a good idea what to expect… these just seem to be bad design. For $500 and being made by Yakima I expected more...

    2017 Model S 75 RWD vs 75D AWD

Would you Purchase a model Y Again?

Only if they could somehow do it via magic without adding more cost to the car. Apartment dwellers as a group are far more sensitive to cost than range. EVs need to be cheaper and faster charging to go after that population, not longer range. New battery tech may enable all of those things...

    Model Y 5G wifi

Pro-tip - keep your car and other IOT devices OFF your 5GHz network. They don't need the speed/bandwidth. 2.4GHz propagates better over long distances. Reducing congestion from crappy IOT devices on your 5GHz network means the devices that can actually benefit from higher bandwidth will have...

Anyone know what Tesla has been doing with the Phoenix radar so far in HW4 vehicles

Yes, that was the original claim, along with also being able to see better than a human in heavy fog, yadda yadda. At this point I believe all of those claims and features have fallen by the wayside. I can say for certain my radar-disabled cars severely reduce their speed or disengage...

    2017 Model S 75 RWD vs 75D AWD

That’s the bit of critical info! Alternatively, if you can get access to the car’s option codes, you are looking for “DU01”, which indicates the higher performance drive unit. “DU00” is the original 5.5 second 0-60 variant.
  46. ucmndd

    2017 Model S 75 RWD vs 75D AWD

To be clear here - I believe the RWD performance numbers you’re quoting are the “pre July” numbers, while the 75D numbers are the “uncorked” figures - so a bit apples to oranges. The great majority of 75 RWD cars produced were pre-July 2017 thus the lower figures are accurate for most of the fleet.
  47. ucmndd

    2017 Model S 75 RWD vs 75D AWD

There are two different 75/75D specs - knowing which one you’re looking at is critical. Originally the 75 RWD was released with an advertised 0-60 time of 5.5 seconds. The original spec 75D had a 0-60 of 5.2 seconds. In July 2017, Tesla announced that new 75Ds produced from that date onward...

    Model Y Finance Issues.

The person you were working with was very likely fired in Elon’s rage housecleaning. I take it you haven’t received anything in the mail from a partner bank? Any new loans listed on your credit report? I financed two cars through Tesla in the past 6 months, both of them were funded by Chase...

    Austin or Freemont

While that may have been true for a hot minute when Austin was cranking out the “Model Y AWD” trim with the 4680 structural pack, I don’t believe that’s the case for any current Model Y on offer. There are no consequential differences between cars produced at the two factories. No, unless you...
