Master Thread: Definitive 14-50 NEMA Outlet Guide

The highest possible because that is the most efficient due to the fixed overhead consumed by the vehicle when it is awake. https://www.teslaownersonline.com/threads/charging-amps.32633/post-406342

Master Thread: Definitive 14-50 NEMA Outlet Guide

Ah HA... Just as I suspected/feared - that is the cheap and inappropriate RESIDENTIAL-grade Hubbell receptacle (RR450F) (actually, it's an RR450FW, which is the white version). It is NOT the recommended and appropriate INDUSTRIAL-grade Hubbell receptacle (9450A). Get that hazard out of the...

Master Thread: Definitive 14-50 NEMA Outlet Guide

That was my very first thought. 1. What model of Hubbell NEMA 14-50 receptacle did your electrician install? They make two different versions - 9450A and RR450F. The 9450A has that number molded into the receptacle itself. If there is no number, it is the RR450F. Only the 9450A is suitable for...

Thoughts on current available 40amp mobile charging units

Lectron ended up replacing two of these 40-amp chargers under warranty. Each time, they would work fine for about three months until the plugs started overheating causing the charging current to drop to 16 amps. Recently, the third one failed in the same manner. Lectron wanted to replace it with...

My 2024 Quicksilver Model Y is here

I'll bite if it rolls around as the standard, free color, but I'm not sure I could bring myself to pay $2,000 extra for it.

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

Wasn't EA "forced" to install an EV charging network as punishment for cheating? When I got in trouble as a child and was forced to do something I didn't want to do as punishment, I'd do it, but it would be a half-assed job. :)

    Supercharger - Tyler, TX

The saving grace for now is that Lindale has the older V2 chargers, which do not support non-Tesla vehicles.

My 2024 Quicksilver Model Y is here

Haha! The fangs were just a fun thing for Halloween…that kinda grew on me…so I left them. They started out as vinyl stickers my mom made then I made 3D printed versions. I rarely drive the car - 10K miles in 4.5 years and even less so after buying a Tesla a year ago.

Can the Tesla charging cable be used in the rain?

Again, it's not that extension cords won't work - they certainly will. The issue is that if/when something does go wrong with the receptacle or the plug end of the extension cord, the EVSE won't know to cut back on charging current in an attempt to avoid a fire. This can happen regardless of the...

Can the Tesla charging cable be used in the rain?

One difference is that you're not mowing continuously for 8 hours while everyone is asleep.
  13. zroger73

Can the Tesla charging cable be used in the rain?

If you have a receptacle that overheats due to a defect, wear, or lose wire, for example, heat will transfer into the plug on the Mobile Connector where one of the temperature sensors is located so that the charging current can be reduced. If this happens while an extension cord is being used...
  14. zroger73

Can the Tesla charging cable be used in the rain?

Also, the Mobile Connector would be unable to detect an overheat condition at the receptacle (which is where an overheat condition is most likely to occur) if an extension cord is used because extension cords don't have temperature sensors.

My 2024 Quicksilver Model Y is here

I haven't seen Quicksilver in person yet, but I suspect it's like the Soul Red Crystal Metallic on my Miata. Sitting in the garage or on a cloudy day or at night, it look like an ordinary "dark red metallic". In direct sunlight, it transforms into something completely different.

I saw a Reddit(?) post recently that suggested that the Quicksilver here in the US didn't look the same as the Quicksilver in Berlin.

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

If multiple, redundant safety interlocks in both the vehicle and supply equipment failed, 400 or 800 volts DC could backfeed into the AC supply resulting in damage to other devices connected to the grid and/or fire. The chances of this happening are greater than zero, but not much - for all...

Unauthorized Tesla pending credit card transaction for Full Self-Driving(?)

Disregard. This was my premium connectivity renewal. It's hard to believe it's been a year already! It would have been nice of Tesla to send some type of notification or receipt so I would have known what this was before filing a dispute.

Unauthorized Tesla pending credit card transaction for Full Self-Driving(?)

Yesterday at 6:59 PM CDT, Tesla charged $107.17 to my credit card without my knowledge or authorization. This is exactly the amount of Full Self-Driving ($99 + 8.25% sales tax). The charge is currently pending, but immediately disputed the charges with my credit card issuer. I do not currently...

Time to change a basic Supercharging design?

If it was the former, the thief would have taken the cables. If it was the latter, the vandal would have left the cables on-site.

$89 Tera Level 2 Charger on Amazon

Which one of the four? If it is the one in the wall plug adapter, just replace it for $35 or $45.

I believe in order to get paid, they have to actually install the equipment and maintain it in working order for a minimum of 5 years.

I'm going to guess that a year from now, nobody will care about this event and there will be many more fast chargers to use even if they don't have TESLA printed on them. :)

Francis Energy is planning to install 8 charging stations in Kilgore, Texas, for example, with 4 CCS and 4 NACS connectors using NEVI funds. It will be interesting to see if these will be listed.

As much as I enjoy driving sometimes, most of the time I'd rather be driven to my destination. The 20-minute drive to work every morning is the same as it has been for years. There happens to be NEMA 14-50 receptacles at a local trail that I exercise at every day after work. There are also a few other free-to-me charging locations within walking distance of places I eat and shop around town. If I see a penny on the ground, I'm going to pick it up. :)

What's a "road trip"? Just kidding. :) I rarely travel farther than 100 miles from home in one day. When I do, I use DC fast chargers. The last time I used a Supercharger was last November.

In 12 years, Teslas has opened 6,345 Supercharger sites around the world - an average of 1.5 per day. Does it really take 500 people to find 1 or 2 locations, pull 1 or 2 permits, and schedule 1 or 2 contractors to do the work?

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

Tesla gave the industry a better connector regardless of the brand of equipment it is used on. They could never install another Supercharger and other EVs would still benefit. Who cares what brand name appears on the charging equipment as long as it dispenses electricity into the vehicle? Do...

    Supercharger - Tyler, TX

On the flip side, GM Energy Network is installing chargers 5 miles west of this location in Tyler and Francis Energy is installing chargers 10 miles east of this location in Kilgore along I-20. The GM chargers will require a CCS-to-NACS adapter. Half of the Francis chargers will have NACS...

I am one-year Tesla owner, not an investor, don't know Musk personally, and very rarely rely on public chargers. From the outside, it's funny seeing such strong overreactions to Tesla's decisions. I am surprised more people don't realize that Musk is more robot than human when it comes to...
