    Just kill it off already

Agree to disagree. I think he was a useful rich idiot who came in at the right time. Someone else would have done the same without him. I do think the industry would have moved towards a technology that makes for better cars. Like they were already doing before the model S released.

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

The 82kWh models were always 315 to my knowledge. The earlier ones were less

    Just kill it off already

That doesn’t mean someone else wouldn’t have filled the same role. Also doesn’t mean another existing company wouldn’t have gone in that direction. Perhaps we’d be further ahead without a moron like Musk at the helm.

Plaid 21” rear tire woes - factory defect?

Yep, the stock alignment may not be ideal, but pretty much every other wheel/tire combo on these cars shows normal wear. The 21” Michelins appear to be particularly sensitive. I’m also not a big fan of reducing camber on a performance car.

Plaid 21” rear tire woes - factory defect?

Do you have any examples of a Palladium S showing this issue on any other tire? I can say on my factory alignment with 20” all seasons on my plaid, the wear is completely even 11k miles in. And I do drive it pretty hard.

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

I’ve driven 2022s and 23s. Both had awful body control even on smooth roads. The dampers being the worst part.
  7. terranx

    Just kill it off already

I disagree. The big road block was battery tech. Tesla jumped in when lithium hit the right price / power density. Others would have made the same connection.

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

I do wish they let the steering weight feel get heavier than it is, but I can look past that when evaluating a car’s dynamics. The Y is actually IMO one of the worst cars I’ve ever driven from a dynamics standpoint. Suspension never feels settled. The 3 felt pretty good until you started to push...

    Just kill it off already

EVs would have still ultimately been developed even if he hadn’t funded Tesla specifically. The industry was heading that way.

    Just kill it off already

I have never used twitter in my life. But generally the world would be a better place without bigots. And ironically he has turned twitter into an echo chamber… for white supremacists and the like.
  11. terranx

    Just kill it off already

Strong disagree. The world would be a better place if he didn’t have any influence.

Okay, but the guy was asking where the s performs better. And the answer is everywhere
  13. terranx

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

New one tbd, but for the old one the S does actually outperform the 3 in corners. “feel” rarely correlates to actual performance.

Or just do it like the model 3 and Y and have the sticks self center regardless.

How to fix Tesla Customer Service

Problem is the Tesla discussion pages on most social media is heavily censored. This forum is okay, but even then has its issues with things like heavy handed restrictions on discussing the ceo. But going on Reddit or Facebook and not singing praises gets you banned quickly.
  19. terranx

Tesla added QuickSilver to the S/X order page last night

Yeah while I’m not a fan of the turn signals, the yoke was the deal breaker for me. Tried multiple drives with yoked cars, and just hated it for anything outside of highway use. I never would have bought my S if a wheel wasn’t an option. I’ve also retrofitted the mechanical horn which certainly...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Sounds like they actually went with bespoke bushings and swaybars in addition to the new dampers if the marketing info is to be believed. So I suspect it will overall handle considerably better, but should be interesting to see.

Vendor New Refresh Headlights & Taillights for Tesla Model S 2012-2020 | T Sportline x Alpharex collab NOVA Headlights and Pro Series Taillights

I wonder what the actual technical issue is. Seems odd to me that it would blow fuses in the refresh but work perfectly fine on the old cars when they have the same physical taillights from the factory.

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

In fairness the S’ variant would probably look better since the led strips would run with the silver bits of our wood/carbon trim. It seems to have been a fairly last minute change to not implement them since most S’ came with the wiring for them in place and there’s lots of references in the...

Time to disable bluetooth as a key?

Where this ends up failing is if the other guy is uninsured or underinsured. Last time someone hit one of my cars, they only had $5k coverage

Plaid X Vibration at beginning of each drive: Who is experiencing this?

You have a 2024 right? Wouldn't be surprised if they altered the cold start behavior with the "efficiency package" configuration the 24s have. But yeah, being parked for a single shift at work (so 10 hours for me) definitely enough to consistently cause the vibration to occur. And much more...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

I do wish teslas suspension was on par with bmw etc, but agreed the value is insane. I basically think of my car as an electric muscle car

    Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

Model S Plaid: Model 3 Performance: Plaid is clearly a spaceballs reference. And IMO the 3’s badge is clearly meant to be a reference to ludicrous speed from Soaceballs. The Easter egg from the model s ludicrous showed a similar animation No other Tesla had a similarly patterned badge.

The service center itself doesn’t seem to have the capability. But the mothership absolutely does have the capability to push firmware

    Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

Not like pregnant women can’t exercise, that’s not really a big issue. I doubt an M3P can accelerate fast enough to cause any real concern, but I’m not an obgyn.

Your understanding is incorrect. It’s effectively the same as a software update, except you’re “updating” to the same version as before.
  34. terranx

Tesla added QuickSilver to the S/X order page last night

I tolerate it, but if stalks were an option I’d go back without hesitation. Change for the sake of change is pointless. The stalkless controls offer zero advantage.
  35. terranx

Plaid X Vibration at beginning of each drive: Who is experiencing this?

Parked 10 hours at work is sufficient to trigger it for me. Definitely more intense in below freezing temps. Today, one of our warmest days here so far, I hardly noticed it.
  36. terranx

Plaid X Vibration at beginning of each drive: Who is experiencing this?

I do think it’s related to a cold start routine (and the duration / intensity does in fact vary with temperature), but what I’m not convinced about is the vibration being intended. All teslas use the motors to heat things up on cold starts, but only the 22+ Plaids have a perceptible vibration. I...

    Future classic?

I could see signature edition carrying some value as a historical piece down the line. But that’s about it.
  38. terranx

Plaid X Vibration at beginning of each drive: Who is experiencing this?

Dunno if it’s truly by design since the 2021s don’t have that one.
  39. terranx

    Retrofit to matrix (global) headlights?

They are better. The high beams will be the same as your MYP. Low beams are also projector unlike the Model 3/Y, so a little bit better there. Whether or not it's worth it depends on how much you drive at night and whether or not there's much street lighting on your usual routes.
  40. terranx

Looks good. I think I still prefer red, but would have pretty strongly considered silver

No rumors of such a thing happening. Also for whatever it's worth, the model 3's buttons are also capacitive. They just have a bit of give to make a more convincing perception of hitting a physical button.

    Just kill it off already

No, the choice is dead in microseconds vs probably live with minimal injury, but small chance of burning to death. The nitrous tanks referred to earlier are much smaller than 10 gallons and only store 1000 psi. Even then, when they fail, the results are catastrophic

I mean technically I can accomplish *all* of my charging with a supercharger, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have onboard chargers at all. It’s rare, but there have been instances where 80A charging would have eliminated the need for me to supercharge.

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Those numbers aren’t sourced from Tesla. The piling up inventory of the model Y paints a different picture. 4680 was never going to replace the 2170.

Peeling Yoke warranty replacement - updated materials?

Just keep in mind the round wheel and yoke have different airbags. Likewise for the mechanical horn vs non mechanical horn airbags, though in the latter case I’m pretty confident the only difference is the horn symbol on the airbag.
