What is the charging port on model s and X - NACS?
It’s Type 2 but can support DC charging without the two additional large ports at the bottom.
You then need an adapter for CCS2 plus early models like mine needed some wiring changes.

However the technique is to attach the adapter to the charging cable first then insert that into the type 2 port on the car. It then locks all three parts together and starts charging.
Removing the adapter from the CCS2 cable is often difficult when the adapter and CCS2 cable are new and the tolerances are fine. I had a similar problem at Exeter when it first opened but wth more use it became easier.

Not replace.

If needed (depending on age of the S/X, think this is for pre 2017) they upgrade the port chip so it can speak CCS2, and then sell you a passive adapter.

As wol747 already had an adapter (just seemingly hadn't used it) his car came with that functionality.
Note that over half the superchargers in Australia now need this adapter for S/X.

Had we gotten the refresh versions they would have come with CCS2 plugs in the enlargement tail light.

Honestly think Tesla should be offering this for free, and actually actively contacting owners to have it done.

I got to use this supercharger in both directions this weekend during my trip to Taree. On both occasions, we were the only car charging. It was also my first V4 charging experience.

The amenity of this site is waaaay better than Heatherbrae. For a start it is covered, and with 12 stalls, you’d think difficult to congest, even at Christmas. The adjacent shopping centre is small but has a few different food outlets to cater for a range of tastes, and a Woolies. Best of all, proper toilets. The single unisex bathroom at Heatherbrae is not great.

It’s a little bit of a detour off the highway but not to the extent that it bothers me. The ‘detour’ is less than getting to Chargefox Karuah. For those who just hate detours of any kind, then Heatherbrae is for you (and there was 1 car charging there on the way up and back).

We really need Taree SC to come on line. There is quite a DCFC gap between this and Thrumster - 210 km. Karuah’s not bad but only 2 stalls and only 27 km up the road. After that there is only NRMA Nabiac (1 stall and slooooow at 50 kW) and Evie Taree (2 stalls, 1 of which seems perennially broken) - so you wouldn’t want to bet the house on either of those.

We shop in Raymond Terrace regularly and was there just last Wednesday. One Y leaving as I arrived and I was the only one there for my short stop to get some supplies from the Reject Shop that the big supermarkets no longer stock and at half the price. 12 minutes total charge time to get me back to the 80% charge limit from 44%. Then off to finish shopping. I prefer this to Heatherbrae and the detour time isn't something we worry about.
