Supercharger - Grand Forks BC

Meeting in question with attachments (they even screengrabbed supercharge.info for their presentation!)

Is this enough for a blue dot triangle @Big Earl @Chuq @corywright ?

Edit: 1866 Central Ave

September meeting included a site plan, and appears that it might get final approval during the October meeting on Tuesday. Appears to be 12 stalls, with the option of 4 more in the future.

As noted in an earlier post, this site would help with the Osoyoos to Castlegar connection (225 km) but also the Kelowna to Spokane route (411 km) via Grand Forks with GF being the mid point. I drove the latter route last month and it was a stretch even in a LR Model 3 (with warm weather).

I'm suggesting that this location could warrant a "Permit" marker in the Supercharge.info site. There is clear information that Tesla is pursuing an approval from the City of Grand Forks for a Supercharger at 1866 Central Ave. The most recent design shows 12-16 stalls (although that could change during the approval process).

I see that some City approvals for this site are on the Council agenda for their next meeting on May 6th; specifically a zoning amendment to allow EV chargers as a permitted use and a change to the Official Community Plan. It would seem that City staff are recommending that Council approve the zoning and OCP changes. There are some housekeeping items to follow; consolidation of the three lots into a single parcel and issuance of a Development Permit.

Lets hope that this site does not get abandoned due to the staff cuts inside Tesla. It would be a worthwhile to split up the 222 km stretch of Hwy 3 from Osoyoos to Castlegar (and would be very handy for travel from Kelowna to Spokane).

It's a good test of Musk's "Where there are gaps".

Hopefully, this location does follow through.

Also, the lower mainland definitely needs more chargers, it's turning into the Bay Area lol

The amount of Tesla sales in the greater Vancouver area is very much booming with the $9k rebate for a $50k car, making it cheaper than a new Toyota Camry or Honda Accord.

It may not be obvious from Maine, but us locals know that a majority of travel to the Okanagan from the Kootenays is via Hwy 33 directly to Kelowna. It is rarely possible to make Castelgar-Kelowna in less than ideal temperatures given the 1535m summit through the Monashees. Grand Forks is sorely needed and will be truly welcomed!
