Hi all - just bought my first Tesla (and first EV), a 2022 Model S Plaid. It’s hard to describe how much fun I am having with it - I can see why people say they will never go back to ICE. I’m a car guy and have been daily driving a Porsche Cayenne GTS and have a 911 Turbo cabriolet as my fun car - which I thought was fast, but my parameters have been totally reset with the Plaid. The 911 is a long term keeper, the Cayenne I kept for now because the trade value was insulting.
I’m getting the hang of the tech and all, and find it pretty intuitive. A lot of the stuff appeals to the perpetual juvenile in me, as I would have designed a lot of it myself when I was 15 (a long time ago). Mine is white, black interior, black 19” wheels, with the upgraded yoke - which I really like. I wanted to do something totally different than what I was used to, and boy is this all totally different. I’m having the universal wall charger installed on Friday.
Quick question - in the Tesla app I see under upgrades the ability to add 2 more years and 25k miles to the warranty for $3100 - which seems like a decent deal. I only have 18k miles on it now, so extending to 75k and 2028 is appealing. Does anyone know if this offer is time limited? In other words, will it disappear as an option in the app at any time? Just curious if I need to jump on it now. Most of the aftermarket warranties would start the clock on me now, while I still have 2 1/2 years left on the original warranty - kinda dumb to pay for that coverage.
Last - I had a deposit on a Lucid Air Grand Touring and went for a test drive last week. Very nice car, great interior, didn’t fit me well though, and the deciding factor for me is the supercharger network. Tesla was smart and so far ahead of the curve with that buildout. I also wonder if Lucid will make it until the end of the year.
Happy to be here - thanks for all the wisdom shared on the forum as it was very helpful as I did my research.
