I’ll configure but I will be getting the 180kWh battery which is going to be delivered later. No need to get a Launch Edition.Who here has a reservation and will configure on Monday? I will start it by raising my hand.

I haven't seen it but I'm hoping it'll be in the configurator. I'd guess another $20k but hopefully I'm overestimating. It would be better to get longer range for towing trailers. Any word on the cost of the longer range?

I am trying to decide between the R1T launch edition or Explore edition. The only feature on the launch edition I care about is the reinforced underbody and getting it sooner. OTH it might be wise to see how the launch edition does and let others work out some kinks. But the non logical brain wants it NOW!
Agreed. Patents are also far from a guarantee of a future product. I just thought it was interesting.I don’t see an average consumer being able to easily install/remove/store an auxiliary battery of any usable size.
i guess some people will just install it and forever lose that bed capacity

One year ago, we took two early R1Ts on a 13,000-mile, all-electric journey from the southernmost tip of Patagonia up to Los Angeles. We now get to share it with you.
“Long Way Up” premieres September 18th on Apple TV+.
Sadly neither the Rivian or the Cybertruck are right for my needs. I want something at a minimum that fits in the garage. Don't need all out 4WD and prefer a more practical van shape than a macho truck.... Likely sadly will be purchasing an ICE till there is something that works that is electric.
The Mercedes EQV is what you need. Sadly, it's Europe-only.

VW ID Buzz should be out by 2022. That is my Sienna replacement. Don't like the SUV long hood of the new one. And the Buzz is the van shape I want.
I've enjoyed watching this series and it ends this week. Its not a great road trip story but pretty good. The electric motorcycles are more highlighted than the Rivians.

I've watched it, and have enjoyed parts of it, but even as a Rivian reservation holder I've been less enthusiastic about the show overall. Their lack of EV knowledge was so bad early on so as to be unbelievable to me. It felt like it was played up for production/dramatic reasons. Surely one of the manufacturers mentioned that they cannot charge in subzero temperatures, for instance. It left my head hurting.I've enjoyed watching this series and it ends this week.
