Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Hybrids are hot, eh, selling more than pure gas/diesel cars? Have you looked at the available new cars recently? Here in europe THERE ARE NO PURE GAS/DIESEL CARS FOR SALE. Only hybrids or EVs. well if you really looked there may be some occasional model. But hybrid version will be cheaper...

Re Legacy EVs. Lets take a look at MB EQ lineup. There's currently what, 10 different models, quite high prices and low amount of production. And they can't figure how to make money on these. Or VW, just revealed id.8. I think. Tesla had already shown the recipe: make one model that can...

A coworker just bought an Mg4 standard. Comes with 50 kwh battery and something like 150kw motor, its a surprisingly good car! No Tesla, but certainly better than any ICE at that price point. MG4 Standard costs 27 900€ here, thats with 24% VAT included.

I'm in scandinavia, where we have quite good high speed rail connecting all major cities. Major routes trains speed up to 200 km/h. But either trains are ridiculously expensive, or flying is riduculously cheap, prices are pretty much equal. A 6-hour train trip costs about the same as a 1-hour...

I think all this is just a bit overblown.. I just spoke to a colleague who bought a model Y. "Did you consider any other cars?" - yeah, I test drove Polestar 2 and Volvi xc40 recharge. They cost the same and both sucked compared to Tesla. "Does supporting Musk bother you?" - what, who's...

In a sense yes. But roadtripping in Europe to other countries and trying to use other than Tesla chargers is a nightmare. I drove last summer through Sweden to Denmark, tried to charge a couple times at a different fast charger and it was just impossible. Process: 1. Download some danish app...

out here, IONITY charges 0,79 €/kWh. Tesla superchargers peak rates are 0,41 €/kWh. So nobody uses Ionity, apart from some mercedes owners who get a cheaper rate tied into car purchase.. So I would not trust oems to build any viable chargers.

Yes, but on a street like in that photo you are allowed to park facing the other way. As long as its a 2-way street.

Why? England is same as most of europe, you can park facing either direction.

Does anybody actually believe these were the guys responsible? Its all about as credible as that bear in the old joke about russians. KGB are told to find a rabbit, after 20min torture they have a bear who has confessed to being a rabbit.

    Tesla Unionization

Finnish transport union (akt) is now on full strike. Does not relate to Teslas swedish strike.. but relates to Tesla and EVs. Its a political strike against current government cuts to employees rights and will probably last 2 weeks. 2 days of strike and gas stations are running out of gas, and...

Yeah, how do you even count that percentage? Y underbody is cast from 2-3 parts, model 3 welded from dozens, so are they 1 part or lots of parts? the whole metric is silly

    Tesla Unionization

Since IF Metal pays the 130% salary for those mechanics that are on strike, they must know exactly how many are on strike. They are not saying the precise number in public, to me that implies its less strikers than they would like. Of course Tesla also must know who shows up to work and who...

    Tesla BEV Competition Developments

I drove it for 2 days, returned it and rented a model 3. Found the 3 much more spacious and altogether a fun car to drive.

    Tesla BEV Competition Developments

Well that might be better. The one I had was a 2022 model. Still I doubt the car being that much better. Tight and cramped interior was a big issue for me. Felt like Volvo S60, big on the outside, cramped on the inside.
  32. S

    Tesla BEV Competition Developments

Heat pump gave up on my Model Y, and while waiting for parts I rented a Polestar 2. Meh. Car was just boring. Center console is so big that I almost felt claustrophobic. Nothing like a roomy tesla. Driving mechanics, boring, and in snow fwd was awful.. hard to get the car even moving from...

I wouldn't mind being on leave from work with 130% pay. it's actually amazing so few mechanics have chosen to strike. PAM, finnish trade union for people working in private service sectors, are organising a 2-day political strike in Finland. They will compensate everyone who strikes for 2 days...

    Tesla Unionization

Finnish transport union is on sympathy strike, but so far it only concerns dock/port workers. It could expand to service. it's possible a Tesla employee belongs in the transport union. The sympathy strike only affects swedish cars, so if Tesla sweden sent cars to Finland for service, these...

    Tesla Unionization

Unions carry some benefits. I can only speak for Finland, but I'd wager sweden is not that different. for example: you get fired without a legal reason. It happens. If you're a union member, their lawyers will sew your former employer, and if the court degeees that termination was illegal...

Its certainly not the first time the union is striking to get a company to sign a collective agreement.

I would think Sweden has pretty strict laws against firing anyone for being on a union strike.

Tesla has their own supercharger service technicians, so SC's would be serviced normally. I think theres around 50 supercharger stations in sweden, and of those a few have 40 stalls. A lot of chargers.

IF Metal had a full page ad at todays Helsingin Sanomat, which is by far the biggest newspaper in Finland. I estimate the price for this kind of full page ad on Sunday is about 30k€. Front page ad would be about 70k€. That union has too much money and the way they are spending it is...

    Russia/Ukraine conflict

There's also something like 1000 railway cargo carriages that have been confiscated by Finland. Fortum lost assets worth about 2 billion euros to Russia. You could say that investing to Russia was an idiots errand..
  42. S

    Tesla Unionization

Sounds like if Tesla left sweden, she would see it as a big win for the union.
  43. S

    Tesla Unionization

I have been talking with other Tesla owners here, consensus is that IF Metal has gone too far, and as said its trying to force Tesla to join even when Tesla employees wouldn't want to. People would be disappointed if Tesla gives in here. Which I don't think will happen, Tesla will just go on...
  44. S

    Tesla Unionization

As I understand, not exactly. A company can either join an employers collective and take their agreement, or they can negotiate their own individual agreement with the union. Veli-Pekka Säikkälä was interviewed by finnish tv news. He actually said that they are worried thar if Tesla will not...
  45. S

    Tesla Unionization

Yeah its silly really.. they'd have to unload the ferry at Hanko, then trailer the cars some 800km to Tornio to get to sweden across land..
  46. S

    Tesla Unionization

Shouldn't the amount of pension just depend on your salary and how much of it goes towards your pension fund? I'm not familiar with swedish pension model. So how exactly do tesla workers get less pension? Here a part of your monthly salary goes to a pension fund, and when you retire, your...

    Russia/Ukraine conflict

Yes. Finland has now completely closed the russian border, since Putler started sending asylum seekers from 3rd world countries across the border. Whole thing was ridiculous, russians would drive these people close to border, them give them bicycles. They actually crossed over with bicycles...

    Tesla Unionization

This is getting out of hand. I'm quite certain that if AKT (finnish transport union) went on sympathy strike for a swedish union, it would be seen as an illegal strike here.
