    P3D+ stock dampers and springs...

someone take these pls. They're taking up too much space in my garage.

good eye there. Yes it's the AA stage 1 (416 whp)

Went the other way (track car)

hah you're right about regen and brake pads. The M3 had some garbage 'street performance' pads on the BBK (which is just 996 calipers and ZCP rotors) on my car, and I swapped them for real race pads (carbotech) and yeah It sounds like a garbage truck when I pull up to stops around town. Not...

Went the other way (track car)

So I got pretty lucky. I started looking for dedicated track cars and pretty quickly narrowed it down to an e46 m3. There were a couple of track prepped (to one degree or another) locally that I saw but missed out on because I hadn't really decided if I was going to go that way. I was talking...

Went the other way (track car)

I was wondering if you still had yours (saw you on the m3forum when I joined), and what your times were like in the model 3 vs M3 :) I agree with a lot of your points in favor of tracking the tesla. And maintenance costs are a thing, definitely. Here's hoping they put in superchargers at more...

hmm. could have sworn I put this in driving dynamics..mods if it's ok can this go there? Makes more sense than here..

Went the other way (track car)

I know a number of folks came from M3s (and the like) to their Model 3. I went backwards :) I (we) still have the P3D+ but I bought a dedicated track car, an E46 M3. It's interesting to compare the two on the track. The biggest takeaway for me is that with the same R compound tires on same sized...

Unplugged Street and Track front pads for P3D+ (unused)

Bought them months ago, waited for them to offer matching rears, bought a (different) dedicated track car. They're brand new. $225+shipping. Thanks

P3D+ 20" wheels and Michelin P4S tires ( with ~1000 miles)- Seattle area

bump. I assume the question from the above member indicates some sort of concern about the trackday.. Anyway- the tires have 1 half day (novice HPDE). 4 heat cycles. They're fine for street use. But since winter is coming I'll let these go for $1800.

    P3D+ stock dampers and springs...

~ 5000 miles on them. make me an offer. Someone must need these things, right?

P3D+ 20" wheels and Michelin P4S tires ( with ~1000 miles)- Seattle area

Took them off with around 1000 miles (and one trackday). The wheels are basically perfect -(had minor curb rash on two of them repaired ). $2000 for the set. (includes wheel caps and TPMS sensors)

What's with the "Verified owner" BS on Tesla's official forums?

I’m still trying to figure out how you’ve driven (no exaggeration) 45,454 miles a year since you were 16....

Three reproducible problems with AutoPilot 16.2

Oh heavens no, one of a despised poster’s threads might be closed? Whatever will we do for entertainment? Bob has continued to brag about using autopilot in ways it specifically is not designed to be used in its current state (and endangers everyone on the road with him) and it makes some...

I was going to just post thank goodness Tesla didn’t use o-ring box plastic when they made the frame but I’m trying to tone down my snark..

    Horrendous brake feel

Are you joking? I can’t tell. If you’re not, then you’re suggesting every time anyone changes a tire roadside, they’re bending the frame of the vehicle, unless you’re implying that the model 3’s frame is significantly weaker compared to most other cars, which isn’t true..
  20. S

    Horrendous brake feel

Also, you need low profile flat top jack stands for this to work
  21. S

    Horrendous brake feel

Folks say the body/frame is strong enough to lift the car from the front jack point (for instance) high enough to get a jack stand under the rear point. I haven’t had the guts to jack it up that high yet and just do one wheel at a time with the jack at the jack point and the wheel under the car...

    New pavement @ pacific raceways

Yeah there’s that big bump after the entry to 5. You just have to have confidence that the tires will stick after the back kicks over, which they do every time, in my experience. But it is unsettling, no pun intended :) glad you got out there again Wenkan

Disappointing Range in P3D. Is this normal?

So why by the P if range is a primary concern of yours? My understanding is that the range estimates should be taken with a grain of salt just like all EPA mileage estimates, so why by the most powerful heavy version of the car if you want maximum range? I was initially surprised by how far...

    Horrendous brake feel

If they feel spongy and soft why not try bleeding the brakes? It’s not hard and will likely fix at least those two symptoms.

    One Lap of America

That looks super fun. I’m going to look into going next year :)

    Horrendous brake feel

To be clear I know what non-linearity means to me (tracked motorcycles for years including the 1098 with notorious stock pads which bit super hard initially) but was interested in what particularly the op was feeling. The stock pads on my 3P+ feel fine, on the street and track, all I’ve done is...

Top Gear Magazine: Model 3 Performance is faster around a track than the BMW M3!

Who do you go with when you go to PIR? That was the track I learned to race motorcycles on and have many fond (and a few not so fond like hitting the bump entering T1 on the brakes and destroying my lovingly built classic super bike) memories of that track and would love to try it in the 3...

    P3D+ Street/Track/Time Trial Build

Interesting- is the purpose to give you HANS protection without a harness? I was thinking of putting a race seat and harness in but did a bunch of research and found lots of conflicting info, but consensus (as much as it exists) among folks who would seem to know was that seat/harness/HANS...

Top Gear Magazine: Model 3 Performance is faster around a track than the BMW M3!

Anyway...I think lots of folks have proven (at least to themselves) that the 3, especially the performance is a fine track tool, and with minimal tweaking beats lots of performance ICE cars. Horses for courses and all that. Can’t wait to get mine out on the track again

Top Gear Magazine: Model 3 Performance is faster around a track than the BMW M3!

Heh. My point is that it doesn’t matter if you have “excellent skills” when tracking a motorcycle. Small mistakes can have large consequences. As I said I’ve spent years tracking motorcycles and have seen experienced racers eat it with serious consequences. They had excellent skills. It’s just...

Top Gear Magazine: Model 3 Performance is faster around a track than the BMW M3!

More engaging but with much more on the line than just money if you mess up. I tracked motorcycles for 10+ years and stopped about 5 years ago, and have found it very hard to go back. I was an A group rider and have thousands of motorcycle track miles. Nothing feels like an excellent fast lap...

    Horrendous brake feel

What is the feel characteristic(s) that is bothering you? You say “non-linear” does that mean they lack initial bite then come on or something else? Is the pedal firm?
  37. S

Top Gear Magazine: Model 3 Performance is faster around a track than the BMW M3!

I agree. Stomping on the accelerator away from a stop light is fine and all, but i’ll take more power higher up any day. The only place my car gives up anything acceleration-wise to fast ICE cars on the track is on the straights so I much prefer the higher roll on power
  38. S

    got her dancing shoes on.

Not sure how VIN range is defined. No part numbers yet- when the car was done they said there was some confusion about whether or not the springs were correct and they were going to do more research and contact me. Tesla.
  39. S

    got her dancing shoes on.

Well what do you know. I’m at the SC getting my spoiler installed and I asked them to check the suspension was correct for my (performance) model because as folks have noted the wheel gap on my car seems excessive. The tech originally said there was no difference in part number for the springs...

    Take all four wheels off

Folks say the car is rigid enough to jack one side high enough (at the back point for instance) to get a stand under the other point on the same side. I bought some low jack stands but haven’t had the guts (or the need) to take all 4 off at the same time. For wheel swaps and bleeding the brakes...

    P3 Brake Job

I might have to invest in a pressure bleeder. I bought a vacuum bleeder but didn’t trust it because it pulls air around the seal apparently , which kind of defeats the purpose. Luckily I have a 14yr old at home to pump the pedal

    5% increase in power

I finally got it. WiFi never works at home (too many DNLA devices or something) so I opened a ticket (I was on 8.5) and they pushed it. Good option for those of you who have WiFi issues. And I like it. Passing power is nice :)

    Brake Cooling Ducts

Model 3 is a great track car. As Wenkan pointed out, a quick search of this forum will show you lots of folks are tracking their 3. Also,
