Austin Built 24 MYP Quicksilver Delivery on 5/11/24

I can see that. This weekend I checked the value of my 2023 MYLR which is now the same as I paid considering the tax credit. It could make sense to get a 2024 tax credit, especially now that it's instant. I sort of did that in 2023, upgraded from 2022 M3 to 2023 MY per the credit. All my...

Regret purchasing FSD after the Ver 12 "upgrade" being crammed down my throat

I totally agree. This is one of my main gripes. Case in point recently had 2 cases where car flunked multi lane merges so I had to take over but that takes an extra moment of time and the car twitches which unnerves other drivers.

Regret purchasing FSD after the Ver 12 "upgrade" being crammed down my throat

Yesterday I gave up on FSD for now and switched down to door #2 - lane keeping. I needed a break and it was quite a relaxing drive - I could choose either regular TACC or Lane keeping and they both worked well. Not like supervising a 5 year old. And I am actually that apparantly rare person...

Regret purchasing FSD after the Ver 12 "upgrade" being crammed down my throat

Well, I do hate this. I want 1-tap for TACC and 2-tap for FSD. Traffic conditions both in town on the highway are just too variable and FSD does not do variable. I don't even know what the conditions are going to be until I get there.

I regret my Model Y purchase because of seat comfort and seating position problems

Similar personal dimensions and same opinion. If I raise them very high, like for my bad knee, they feel bouncy but otherwise good.

What makes a car "fun to drive"?

Well stated. Driving at 10% really isn't much fun. Gotta find the sweet spots. I always thought the CRX format would have made a great short range electric car. The 2nd gen was really lovely but in those days I could not afford even that. I barely bought the regular 1985 Civic Dx...

What makes a car "fun to drive"?

Doug is full of crap. The model 3 is a blast to drive - fast, cuts into corners, slides the tail, brilliant on a mountain road - it just has that feel. It's not identical to your favorite legacy gas car, it's not light, no clutch, no shift points, it has it's own personality. The model Y is...

Tesla wants to replace my Model Y Standard Range battery pack with an LFP pack

Sounds really good. The only thing I would worry about is having a one off car and future maintenance. I would talk to the advisor about it. Otoh this seems like it must be common as our cars age and Tesla changes battery production.

Rich people keep learning that starting a car company, or an airline, or a spaceship, is really really risky. It’s a halo legacy thing. 1 in a hundred.

Tesla Model Y - have I made a huge mistake

Maybe he backed out of the driveway ... that's often all it takes to update the TPMS. It's still morning. I think the point stands that he did not notice it until it was time to leave, which is fair. edit: and yeah still think its the best car(s) I've owned, out of about 20 or so. you sort...

Tesla Model Y - have I made a huge mistake

And then ... we have had three in the last many years ... a very slow puncture we could refill every day, a fast puncture that required a visit to a tire store right now, and a total blowout last month that put me back $450. Despite the reasoning, I'd like a spare option. As for weight, I...

Tesla Model Y - have I made a huge mistake

That tire story is bad for sure. Lots of cars don’t have spares anymore but that doesn’t help now. You’ll get one to keep at the house and have a tire service number handy. Tesla tire service is not better in any way. Sorry for your trouble. Otherwise that’s sort of par. Tesla has lots...

    Tesla Vision vs Parking Sensors

Honestly my 2018 Tesla had a worse problem with phantom brakes than either of our 2023 Teslas (3,Y), so there is progress there. However, the marshmellow canyon parking visual is really a joke, like I hope passengers don't see it. Like is there anyone that gets a passenger in the car and then...

Superchargers needed at the N.C. beaches

Yeah in that area we're between the SC in Barefoot Landing and Leland. We go to Sunset Beach where we have one L2 on the beach and one in Calabash which were just enough last year. You have to get to the beach side charger either early or late. As you probably know there in another L2 in...

    Fisker Ocean... ?

My update is that a few weeks ago I got a message from a Fisker rep in NYC saying she wanted to make sure I have a good Fisker experience and asked if I have any questions. Nothing since. I have nothing against the company, other than doubts. They still have my $250. I would like to see...

    Be considerate on test drives

Tesla could do things like pop messages, reduce max speed steadily to near zero, etc.... yeah there are safety issues but they could also be like Hertz and call the cops on someone stealing the car. I feel like this is 'improvable' if not solvable.

    Range Concerns

It's literatlly called a heat engine. If you wonder why a BEV can get a 120MPGe, it's because an ICE engine is only about 25% efficient. The ICE only works becuase it has a much larger battery (gas tank). I will agree that winter range loss is one of the biggest drawbacks to an EV...

How many people are having connectivity issues?

I was having the same - then updated the Tesla app, removed my phone from the Tesla computer, paired it again, and no problems since. That is the second time I have needed to do that process to resolve problems. In 5 years. YMMV.

Meanwhile, Model Y LR prices have crept up by $500 in the last week here in Raleighwood. No idea if this trend will last another 10 minutes or not. It's getting tight for end of year pickups.

Did Tesla take away enhanced autopilot subscription?

Speaking of that, my FSD trial was supposed to expire last week but is still enabled. I'll miss the lane change AND the visualizations. The rest of FSD was just not worth it for my driving, other than the very entertaining flapping wipers :)

Model 3 RWD Purchased November 2023

Your driving range is a function of your efficiency and capacity. Your car is new so capacity will not be a problem. Track efficiency in the car's Energy app. It's not too difficult to drive less than or equal to your rated efficiency about 225 for model 3 rwd iirc; however, we all do things...

Over time the charge stats on your app will be really useful. Remember to enter your utility costs if they are not already accurate. For consumption the energy app in the car is the final word. I can’t complement it enough. I wish the app and car were equal in those abilities.

Comfort Suspension Not Much of an Improvement

Having had 3 model 3s and one Y, I can say the Y is much worse - stiff, unyielding, harsh - over any uneven pavement. Smooth roads are fine of course. I don’t think it’s a noble trade off for sport handling. I think the suspension is not tuned well, it should be more progressive but feels...

Recycling is a joke. I did not realize how big a joke it was.

Honestly I always thought China was doing it to get some fake credits in the global trade balance sheets. Like we were probably paying them to pretend to take our recycling, but then they would just toss it. I don't know of course, but just have this naggijng suspician.
