Model Y DIY Xpel Ultimate PPF

I just installed precut PPF from Drive Protected on my Model Y front end last week and the front bumper main piece took 50 minutes to install, including some help from my wife and kids and also some time to record video of the install for this video of the project I also made. The whole car was...

Does anybody adjust their charging amps using app?

I use the ability to adjust the max charging amps in the Tesla app on a daily basis. Even multiple times a day to better match the output from the solar panels on my RV which I use to charge my Model S which you can see more information about in this video. This function used to not be in the...

    Model S Trailer Hitch Installation

That's interesting that it shows higher weight capacities than others have. When you receive the hitch there will probably be a sticker on it (mine did) that shows the weight capacity of it there too. I'm curious to know if it's 400 and 4000 because if so I'm guessing Torklift has increased the...

    Model S Trailer Hitch Installation

Congrats on your purchase and I hope it works well for you! Tesla Model S hitch by EcoHitch® This is the device I got and that I think you probably need. I got the 2 inch version which is referring to the receiver size. It's tongue weight is 300 pounds and towing capacity 2,000 pounds. There's a...

In the bit of testing I've done with my fishing boat it reduces range by about a third, or you could think of it as the other way around that the energy consumption per mile went up about a third.

Gen1 vs Gen2 roof rack mounts

Do you still have the gen 1 hardware now 4 years later? I purchased a roof rack from the local classifieds from a guy with a 2015 Model S like mine but his hardware doesn't work so I think he had gen 2 and I have gen 1.

    Model S Trailer Hitch Installation

From my perspective if you know what wire to connect to, and you're willing to physically alter the wire to tap into it then it's a fine approach. I didn't know what wire to splice into and I wanted to be able to remove everything and have no physical evidence of my installation remaining just...

Should my 2015 Model S 85D 12 volt battery be cycling between charging and discharging every minute?

After the initial post I've found that if I disable TeslaFi the clicking stops so I agree it's certainly TeslaFi causing it. I'm going on a trip in a couple weeks which I'll turn TeslaFi on for, then after that the customer support rep said he'd pause my account as long as I want until the issue...

Should my 2015 Model S 85D 12 volt battery be cycling between charging and discharging every minute?

Thanks for the additional information! I contacted TeslaFi support yesterday and this is their response: ("they" referring to Tesla) "This is something that changed on their end and the only thing that TeslaFi would be able to change is polling or not polling data. However, I made a change to...

Should my 2015 Model S 85D 12 volt battery be cycling between charging and discharging every minute?

Thanks for the details. This appears to be the main on off switch for TeslaFi. Why would I bother to pay for a service if I'm going to just turn it off? Did you just cancel your subscription for TeslaFi?

Should my 2015 Model S 85D 12 volt battery be cycling between charging and discharging every minute?

No, I never got an answer to this issue and it's still happening periodically. Sounds like perhaps Teslafi is causing it. I looked through TeslaFi's settings and didn't see anything about polling. Is polling simply TeslaFi connecting at all? Can you clarify what you turned off to make the 12...

That's a really interesting route I didn't know was available because I was avoiding taking off the covers to get to this point. Looks like a pretty good option for you and I imagine it's probably a fine channel to utilize for your purposes. That's for including how you're doing it so others...

Should my 2015 Model S 85D 12 volt battery be cycling between charging and discharging every minute?

Something doesn't seem right with how often the 12 volt battery is cycling between charging and discharging and I'm trying to ensure if there's something wrong it doesn't cause a larger issue in the future from so frequent cycling. I am not sure when this cycling began but I don't recall it...

Review Of My 2015 Model S 85D at 100,000 Miles

This week we've now had our Tesla Model S for 2 years! I made a video outlining all the repairs our Model S has undergone in it's...

    Model S Trailer Hitch Installation

Torklift has modified their design since this article was published 3 years ago. They've added some plastic washers and probably some other tweaks as well. I mentioned the receiver is easy to put on, and you asked if it's easy to take off. Haha sorry for not reading accurately, but really it's just as easy to put on or off, perhaps easier to take off since...gravity makes it fall out once the bolt is out. I don't use the EcoHitch cover. I don't...

Removing the receiver drop down part is super easy to do, especially if you keep a driver and socket on hand as I do so I don't need to look around for the 15/16th socket. In the first picture in my original post if you look closely at the bolts you'll see white discs around each of them. These are plastic vinyl washers that separate the aluminum bumper from the steel hitch and is what is used to isolate the metals from each other to avoid galvanic corrosion.

Logistics of Charging a Nissan LEAF and Model S in One Garage
